---------- Post added at 21:47 ---------- Previous post was at 21:42 ---------- What's all this about registering for an early upgrade? I am on 2meg, do I have to do anything for this upgrade to the speed? And also I have a Motorola Surfboard Modem SB5100, will I require a new modem for the upgrade from 2 to 10meg?? |
Re: Free 2 to 10 upgrade
I Have the silver NTL Home 200 from first install to present Day its been no
trouble. You can understand our feelings about this as mine and many others Dealings with call center have at times been very heated and frankly a pain in the rear so if its that way we have to set up new modem then i am am worried and are these new things reliable i dont want to spend hours on phone trying to explain to India what the problem is with probably little result . Yes i know somone now will jump on me and say thats rubbish they do there job properly and there few problems but you i and i know thats not so I Can install the modem i can fault fnd as well and yes i can and regular set up windows on new systems so i know what i am doing i just dont want my System FIXED when it isnt BROKE It works leave it alone . |
Re: Free 2 to 10 upgrade
All you do when the modem gets swapped is read out the MAC address on the modem. Thats it. It takes about a minute on the call

And all I would like is for someone to tell me if my Motorola Surfboard Modem SB5100 will not be required to be changed for the auto upgrade from 2meg to 10meg, as I feel the same and don't want the hassle of driver issues on the 98 system. I agree if it ain't broke............. |

If you are connecting via USB you will need a new modem (and may be the reason why they are being sent out) |

Upgrade timetable
Hi, We'll be updating this page shortly to provide you with the info you need to check the progress of your speed upgrade. Thanks, The Virgin Media Broadband Team. that's really useful...lol |
Re: Free 2 to 10 upgrade
I fitted my own Ethernet card in my 8 year old computer some time ago as USB caused problems, and I have had a stable connection ever since, so looks like I won't require a new modem.
I have just sent VM an email asking them when I should be receiving this free upgrade, it will be interesting to hear what they say. ---------- Post added at 22:38 ---------- Previous post was at 22:35 ---------- Quote:

Had to reload laptop and i never backed up the details) Trying to use the dont know your usernames/password link just fails out after putting in bill details etc. Quote:
Guessing i'm going to need to phone in morning and jump the 7 circles of call center hell. Oh well upside is i'll be able to move my email to this account i suppose. :edit: urm. dont suppose i could just create a new master account using the new virginmedia addy could i? |
Re: Free 2 to 10 upgrade
The password reset feature doesn't function correctly, you're going to have to call customer support and have them restore the account credidentials; I had to.
/myvirginmedia/gofaster/ also states that it cannot recognize my speed. http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/6544/beginwork.png Perhaps this is the upgrade being done in this area? |
