To some, its almost as distasteful as saying..."6 million people dying/being killed/being gassed/being murdered etc etc isnt so bad in context of the global population of x billion" or words to that effect.

I'm getting pretty much tired of you taking what I said and adding bits to suit your agenda. Nowhere did I say "it isn't so bad". I've admitted I'm having difficulty getting my point across but I guess you conveniently missed my posts where I say how horrific I believe the holocaust to be.

Russ, I dont have any agenda against you, stop being so paranoid. I have read your posts about how you find the holocaust horrific. You were asked earlier by another poster to think back and post again to explain what you mean when you put the death of 6,000,000 jews in context of the world population and you failed to respond.

All I am trying to point out that Trax has said something distasteful, not on the same scale as what you said, but that hasn't been the only cooment made in bad taste on this thread.

So do you take back your accusation that I have said (or implied) that 6 millions deaths in the holocaust "isn't so bad"?

You have tried to make a point in 2 posts, both of which suggest to a reader that you feel 6 million in the grand scale of things compared to total populations isnt so bad (If you take into regard the other posts around yours. Can I make my point any clearer than that?! So no, I see no reason to take anything back. Once you have explained what you originally meant to say I will post accordingly.

Now I will re-iterate, I dont have an agenda against you, I dont care what you background is, I dont have an agenda against your views or your lifestyle. But if I do find something in bad taste on this forum, I will hilight it and take issue with it, as everyone is entitled to.

I just sometimes wish you'd stop thinking that people who oppose your views have some form of agenda against you. Sop taking it so personally.

Let me make this totally clear to you: I have never (and would never) say I believe the events of the holocaust are "not so bad" (to use your words).

You have totally ignored my comments in posts 54 and 57 about how I would never downplay the seriousness of what happened. I wonder why you overlooked those comments in favour of others. No agenda you say? OK.....

Because I'm having trouble getting my point across my posts might look like the contradict themselves, fair enough and I accept that. But why did you take the negative view first? Why not the positive and the benefit of the doubt?

You might want to add, "But 6 million dying isnt so bad in the context of things." - which is clearly what you have said.

Remember we were discussing the number of Jews who died in the Holocost. Its easy to make an assumption that the statements are related. Can you see where the confusion lies? Or do you still feel I, and anyone else who disagrees with you, has an agenda against you.

No I havent ignored any of your other posts. I am commenting on what you wrote regarding context and numbers killed. You dont have to be antisemetic to downplay the holocost, statements such as you have posted (to which no other explanantion has been given - i believe you cant back out of what you said at the time) downplay it just enough.

Oh that word again Agenda..... can you explain what agenda you feel i have against you, I could do with a laugh, Im still peeved off at Wednesdays result.

Why would I want to add that when I have never said that? I can see you're doing your best to attribe me to things I have not said so allow me one last time to put you straight.

I really have no idea why you insist on this campaign of putting my name to such awful things. You say it's no agenda...well you can say it as much as you want, I'll reserve judgement until you can admit I have not said anyone's death is "not so bad". My own feeling is you misread what I originally posted but have gone too far in to this to back out, with pride stopping you from admitting your mistake. Whatever the situation, I have not, and would never say that anyone's death is 'not so bad'.

Sorry to keep on about it but you have insisted on painting me in a very bad light despite me putting you right on numerous occasions.

When you compare it to the 25 million Russians that were killed or the 10 million Chinese that were killed in a holocaust forgotten by the world, I'd agree and it's easy to get bogged down with numbers but of course they are just figures are they, each number is a human and each one lost is a tragedy

What figure would be considered "massive" in the grander scheme of things then?

Could it be that there is some confusion that massive means "largest" and so if there have been larger deaths then the numbers involved before cannot be considered massive?

I have to say I find it difficult to picture 6million people, it's just too big a number (and I find it difficult to picture 6 million being killed in concentration camps because it was just so wrong and immoral, let alone the 10 million chinese, or 25 million Russians, I can't help but try to imagine the pain and suffering each one went through. I'd love to go to the holocaust memorial museum in Israel, but I know if I do I would probably spend my time there with tears streaming down my face at the inhumanity of what happened, especially with the pile of shoes, or room of candles).

When i saw this subject i just knew it would end up like this and thats why i stayed out of it for so long. This is a subject that has so many extreme and strong opinions that it cannot be rationally discussed as there is simply no give or take on either side. There seem to be some personal agendas also present on this thread that are a result of previous threads where people obviously feel they didn't get the result they wanted and are going to carry it on in whatever thread they see a chance to open it all up again. For those reasons can a mod please close this as it is going nowhere fast and can only result in more mod time (handing out infractions and cleaning up the thread) if it is left to run.

I certainly have no axe to grind with anyone RK, and as regards asking the mods to close a thread because you feel its going nowhere... a bit extreme, don't you think?

What progress do any of these threads honestly make? apart from us all exchanging thoughts and idea's. To be honest I feel the subject probably has run it's course, but let's see, not just call for a mod to close it.:shrug:
