Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 4)

Repost:

We have one of the original Business Essentials Cable modems, currently on 1.5 Meg speed. No sign of any upgrade in speeds here in Shepshed for that modem and no mechansim I know of, such as a web page, to upgrade.

Phoned Business customer support and they know nothing about a plan to upgrade Business Cable modems, he seemed to think the increase from 1 to 1.5 MB was news!

Anybody know if and when business cables modems will get the speed increase, please?

APS

What's your point? Surely you're not suggesting that the internet is a necessity?

If they are incapable of handling 8Mb or below then they should not use STB's.

i guess that means i should not use my d-link adsl modem too because that supports speeds of upto 8mbps??

How on Earth did you get that from what i said? I said NTL should not use equipment that can't handle speeds that they currently offer, will offer or could potentially offer in the future. I don't know how you came with the answer you gave me?

My heart goes out to Orangebird, Debsy and all the other NTL reps on here that have to put up with so much abuse.

C'mon guys. Get a grip or at least get a life!

Well the equipment they used supported up to 1.5MB, so why do you think they are upgrading the equipment now? :)

I just phoned up and said
"hi i have been trying to upgrade my speed on the internet and it told me to phone you"
she said "no problem"

i said "i have 1.5 mbps and want 3 mbit,i already have a samsung"

she said "thats great we wont have to upgrade you then"

then she went on for a while saying that she is nearly getting tangled up in her headset wire, spoke to her for a while what a nice friendly person.

she said about the 1 gig a day but said as long as you dont take the micky.I thought i was going to be there all day chatting :D

How long will the update take?

Speeds of 10 or 20 meg may be in the future - but if the manufacturers don't make the right stb for that speed, or the cost is too much, what do ntl do then? All they can do is pass the cost onto the customer. Which I don't beleive would go down too well.... :erm:
