I think the unnatural Lancashire air/grass has badly affected our players. However looks like rain to me and they should call it off now as a precaution ;)

A game of 'proper' 4 day cricket starts Sunday, then we'll see which rose is best ;)

Result was never in doubt. possibly one of the best T20 matches I have seen and as a test match fan I still found it immensely entertaining.

Busy day for me on Friday 10th of August due to the TV scheduling idiots who just don’t give a damn or use any common sense.

Lancashires’ last home game in the T20 group stage starts at 6:30 on August th, Man United kick off at the other Old Trafford at 8:00 the same evening.

I will go to the cricket then leave early to watch the footy, the chaos on the local transport system doesn’t bear thinking about.:(

Yorkshire won the toss and decided to bat.:D

Looking at the scorecard it appears that Clark got a hat trick.

Some hat trick , Joe Root, Kane Williamson and Jonny Bairstow .

That’s the world ranked 3rd 4th and 16th test batsmen in the world.

Re: English cricket hits rock bottom again !

How come Yorkshire with all their resources and England players like Plunkett available are able to sign a bowler, Poysden from another county for just this one game.

It’s like United borrowing Harry Kane for a match, stupid rules.

Will be a huge blow for Lancashire if Livingstone takes no further part. As Habeeb is a walking wicket they are 2 down before they start.

Interesting game looks like it could be over in 2 days. Don't think they've all switched off from 20/20 mode. Oh for Geoffrey Boycott to make a come back (his recent quadruple heart bypass might delay his return to the squad though ;) )

Re: English cricket hits rock bottom again !

TBH Both teams have batted poorly all season long in red ball cricket, that’s why they are near the bottom of the table.

Haseeb Hameed might as well leave his bat at home, he has been out four times in his last five innings not playing a stroke and scored very few runs either.

Yorkshire already 21 for 3, all caught by the keeper, it is a really steamy, overcast morning, just hope the sun breaks through later.

Unusual for Yorkshire to be struggling as they are usually nearer the top rather then the basement.

Disaster in the last couple of overs, Joss Buttler, Lancashire’s only real hope got out to Joe Root of all people.:(

They think it's all over - it is now!

Yorkshire 192 & 239: Bairstow 82, Brook 55; Onions 3-44

Lancashire 109 & 204: Buttler 59; Root 4-5, Patterson 3-38

Yorkshire (19 pts) beat Lancashire (2 pts) by 118 runs

England Test captain Joe Root finished with a career-best 4-5 as Yorkshire polished off Lancashire in the first hour of day three to win by 118 runs.

Lancashire resumed on 194-6, needing 129 runs to win the Roses match, but Root had Graham Onions caught with the first ball of the day at Old Trafford.

His off-spin claimed Matt Parkinson before Tom Bailey (45) fell, with Root bowling James Anderson to seal victory.
