Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
oh, I see. thank you The Daddy! but I'm sure when I was watching the U21's once I heard the commentators say that someone was 24?! hmm, I've seen the clips on sky this morning - there really was a huge divet, but why on earth didn't robinson have his eye on the ball rather than the pitch? he knew there were divets, and the ball wasn't heading for him that fast..
|
Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
Can't you have three over 21s in the U-21s? Sounds odd, but I think this is the case, or was, or I've been drinking too much and hallucinated it.

Drop the lot, I say, and stick some Arsenal players in. That's what they're missing. Mind you, we'd have to play five-a-side and borrow a couple of players off the other lot. |
Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
Well, Scotland were dire last night, never got running and were well and truly humped by the Ukraine. The ref was a shambles and gave some really terrible decisions but the result was justified either way.
In some respects i'm glad as it brings us back to earth after the France game, but i hate it when we lose and play bad. Seeing that England "own howler" go in though cheered me up no end - the whole pub started laughing. Anyone got a youtube link? Well done to the Welsh by the way, great result and an excellent performance, the Republic did not to bad either by all accounts. |
Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
I can't believe a Scot is actually trying to have a pop at a goalkeeper, have you forgotten some of the cloth handed incumbents of the Scottish goal down the years

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
Who would have thought that after games against Spain, Denmark and Latvia we would have had 7 points out of 9.
Who would have thought 4 games in we would have had the same number of points as England. How things have changed in Norn Iron football. Euro 2008 here we come. ;) |

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
well what a load of rubbish that was.. very dissapointed and feel sorry for the fans that went out there to watch it
it was clear after the first half that the system wasn't working and once again an England manager showed that he had no way to turn the game around.. even before they scored the system should have been changed if we weren't so negative passing back all the time then maybe Gary Neville might have played the ball up the pitch and not back to the keeper Watching Gerrard and Lampard and a few others they just don't put in the same effort for England as they do for their clubs |

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
England, along with premiership teams, when they play in europe, play far too negative a brand of football. The English top division, was always more successful, when playing a fast paced game. Look at just how successful it was through the late 70's up to the mid 80's. European teams never liked it when they were pressed constantly. Why we adopt this style of negative, keep ball, simply because the rest of europe do, is a mystery. Hence the reason I find international, and european football, tediously boring. Give me the premiership any day, although even that is slowly heading towards a european style.

Bad news about Petr Cech
Though what do people think about the challenge? Mourinho seems to be blaming Hunt, yet after seeing the challenge, it looked like an accident, with Cech sliding into Hunt. Hunt didn't put his foot out or change his run, just that Cech couldn't stop after collecting the ball. ...also, Bolton have offered to lend them a goalie... |
Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
Don't forget, according to Mourinho it's always the other players' fault.
|
Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
I think of the two keepers, I would have thought Cuduccini would have come off worse, the tackle on Cech looked harmless at the time.

when i saw them both at the weekend the one on Cech seemed to be hardly any contact at all .. i think it was an accident he wasn't kicked or anything it was just contact with is alot different to deliberatly being kicked
the second one also seemed to be an accident although maybe the Wigan bloke could have done abit more to get out of the way |

one thing this did show
i hate all the diving and play acting and stuff that goes on and the 15 roll overs after you get tackled looking at the Cech one at the time i thought he was making a meal of it like alot of players do when they aren't really hurt at all.. so you can'y always be sure.. however he didn't keep rolling over about 15 times from side to side and neither did Cuddicini either |

that's what i don't understand surely someone at the FA, UEFA and FIFA must have noticed that EVERYONE who rolles over all the time somehow manages to get back up and keep playing but when they just lie there they are injured not letting the trainers on until the ref says so has helped but it's not enough as i said before the only reason bungs were looked into is because that means money going out of the game.. with diving and stuff only the fans get cheated out of the money they paid to get into the ground |
Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
According to the Express, Cech wanted to play on with his injuries :tu: but Chelsea want the ref punished because he made him crawl of the pitch

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
well Wenger reckons someone will be killed soon :Yikes:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...em/6057730.stm what does he want maybe they should wear protection like they do in ice Hockey ? seeing as this hasn't happned to a keeper in about 100 years of playing i think they should be ok |
Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
The only time I can think of was a Celtic keeper dying during an Old Firm clash in the 1930's after a collision with a Rangers player.

There will be no opposing player allowed inside the penalty area soon, mark my words! Mark my words! ;)

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
u are right Mal and the keepers are using it to their advantage.. half the time at Palace Kiraly stands behind all the players and then just runs into the back of his own men knowing the ref will stop play as it looks like a foul

Re: Football Talk 2006/2007 Season
good win but we still could have done so much better.. still not sure on Saha.. ok he puts the ball in the net a few times but how many goals does he actually create out of nothing like Henry can ?
been reading them comments from mad Jens about how a keeper will be crippled soon he's really one to talk seeing as he's stamped on people a few times.. and that's just what i've seen since he's been in the prem if he's done it here i'm sure he's done it through his career |

Actually, even though your obviously delusional and appear on this forum to be what Alan Davies is to QI, it has raised a rather interesting point.
We do need to play each other again, i mean - 7 years (and counting) without any Scotland v "Those southern nancies" match is too long a time. We should have a kind of 4 nations tournament every other summer IMO, in between the European Championships and the World Cup. |

Harry Redknapp and Neil Warnock have to be close if not 1000.
Denis Smith has 1139 according to Soccerbase. I'm just a tad suspicious of a sting in the tail on this one... maybe a Scotland manager or one who's currently international? |
