Same here. Loading very slowly. Its as if its trying to load too many things on the page at once.

Re: [Merged] Promote your own website

loads ok here at work, but websense blocks the ads, which might make a difference, if I remember I will try again, when I get home.

Re: [Merged] Promote your own website

thanks for the input ;) I've been on the phone and messenger to numerous friends and family all over the place, about 20+ people... all of them have different specs lowest spec being a amd 850mhz with 4mb gfx, 128mb ram and dialup modem... the highest spec being my nephews amd 64bit, 2gb ram, ati 9800xt 256mb gfx, and 10mb braodband. I got them to empty their browsers cache first, and they have all told me that my pages loaded normally. using either msie, firefox and opera with no problems what-so-ever. saying this, I have had a few problems sometimes when using firefox, images loading slow etc... but not too slow as to cause problems. and this was a problem just with my firefox, because when accessed thru another browser it loaded ok.

I also have the enuff sight hosted on the ntl servers using my free 55mb space, but as you can see by visiting it here, my page isnt that great. buttons missing etc... I have no idea why tho, cos I uploaded the same files that are on my main hosts server. once again thnx for the feedback cheers :tu:

[EDIT]Thanks, I can fully recommend AdMuncher as one of the best ad blockers and popup stoppers out there! give it a trial.

Used it to set up convergence (early colour sets), picture size/shape, centring, colour tweaking. On video recorders: Tape guides and all sorts of other things. There was a pattern generator and a special test tape that could also be used but the final test I though best was how the picture held up on the testcard.

Re: [Merged] Promote your own website

Hi all.

Some of you may know that CoffeeCup.com are doing a promotion on their web software to celebrate their 10th year in business.

They have asked me, as a user of their software, if I would like to offer visitors to my site a 20% discount on any number of orders.

Firstly may I say, that this is not an affilliate programme and I do not get any money in payment for doing this. I have recieved something but am going to donate it to the Forum Team for use in their future competitions because they have allowed me to post here.

You can find details of the discount at:-
http://www.freebits.co.uk/coffeecup.html

It is in a way of promoting my site, but it is also a way of offering members of this forum a discount, the discount cannot be found anywhere on Coffeecup website.

I have met some nice people on here and had some fun, I hope to have more fun in the future.

Thankyou for your support.

My Command & Conquer sites:
  • CnCWorld - A traditional fansite with news, downloads, game info and forums etc. Recieves about 16000 uniques a month
  • CNC Community - A website for the community, members of a special webmasters only forum can post their own news items on the homepage. Houses a bunch of features included a topsite, banner rotator and comprehensive links section. It's also a neutral place to hold big events such as the community awards, and the open map competition.
My other sites:
  • Valcato Hosting - My main occupation, obviously a web hosting and domain registration provider.
  • RegisterFly Suck - I created this site because well...RegisterFly Suck! It's not completely finished yet hence the lack of any reviews, but if you've ever experienced RegisterFly I'd appreciate your input.

My current (now finished) project that I did for my sisters 2 caravans.

In the past I've normally butchered templates and content management systems. This is the closest I've come to completly starting from scratch on a full web site.

Written 100% in notepad. Menu will be re done to correct eratic capitalisation but other than that quite proud of it.

www.primrose-valleycaravans.co.uk

This is another site thats still work in progress.

www.branthowe.co.uk Looking at it now I think I might restart it and use an adaption of the base layout from the site above. hmm

Next project is 10 web sites for a local ski club. They want a seperate domain and site for each of the junior skiers that compete in events throught the world.

I have a newish site called Customer Voice. Its actually partly inspired by cable forum and the old nthellworld. Its a place for consumers to air their gripes about shoddy service across a range of industries. It has a forum, a news section and a list of contact of contact information for various well known companies so people can find out where to complain.

You're right Zeph, i tried moving the whole contents of the forum to the root of the host server thinking it would all point to www.enuff.co.uk instead of www.enuff.co.uk/forum but it didnt work. as soon as i can find out how to point the forum direct, i'll do it.

Create a new file called index.php in the root directory (delete all other index.* files) and put inside it

PHP Code:

<?php
header
("location: /forum/");
?>

Should do the trick

Nice 1st attempt :tu: (I remember my first site & its a great feeling to get into web Design) your site is on the wide side on my screen (most use 1024 x 768 screen) not sure if you get a Scroll Bar on your Screen (Left > Right)

Yeah, it was done on a 1280 x 1024 but I tried to make it more 1024 x 768 friendly without the higher res users having everything bunched up in the corner. Difficult to please everyone but as it gets more visits it does seem 1024 x 768 is more common.

Thx for your comments tho! :)

hmm... your warning for the over 18s section is a good idea- unfortunately when used in either Firefox, Opera or Safari it only gives you an "ok" option which then loads the page, there is no way of clearing down the dialogue box and not going onto the adult content.

I know what you mean but it is to cover my back from complaints, because it is worded in such a way that by clicking OK, people are accepting the warning. When I get better with html I will add a more secure option. I will look into that.

My New Web Site

Hi all, not sure if this is allowed but I want to tell people about my new site and get some feedback :)

http://www.angelfire.com/indie/foolsgold68/

It's fairly new so not much on it at the moment but I'm working on it.

PS. Does anyone know of any free hosting sites that accept sites created with FrontPage and also don't have banner ads and pop ups?

Ouch - it really doesn't like Firefox, does it? :erm:

Specifically it crashed my Firefox browser with an error in the media player plugin - the resulting error dialogue just looped & I had to use task manager to exit ;)

Sorry about that lol... forgot to mention that I'm having probs with the media player playing on Firefox. It works fine on IE though, not sure why there's a problem with Firefox, will have to look into that :)

I'm a bit concerned about the banner ads and pop ups on angelfire, some are a bit adult orientated lol

Have you looked at all the site? What do you think... so far? :)

Very nice m8... The picture in the Flash gallery of the alarm clock showing 6:26pm scares me... lol. The reason being I have a fear of the alarm clock going off at 6:30 am every day! lol :D

Well I've updated El Studentes' site recently, still got work to do on it to clear up a few issues with the display. No doubt once that is done I'll find a list of other bits she wants adding to it...... again ;)
