It looks like its going to be a difficult time getting Smith out before that though as England seem clueless as to ways to get him out.:(

Joe Roots very average tactical captaincy coming to the fore again while it seems some of Englands fielders have developed a touch of butterfingers as well.

l was jesting Jim ;) as yes the day was extremely disappointing for England with Smith scoring runs for fun and then Englands makeshift opener getting out cheaply as unless our batsman stay in for the whole of tomorrow which is basically asking for a miracle then the Ashes are gone.

Re: English Cricket

The weather looks like being England’s best chance of getting out of this match with a draw although Sat/Sun forecast is much better and two full days may be beyond England’s survival capabilities. The last time a test match was played this late at Old Trafford was in 1880. There is a darned good reason for that which had obviously escaped the money grabbers at the ECB.

The money grabbers at the ECB are sadly only interested in the white ball game thus test cricket is only of secondary importance to them.

Nine changes from weekend. Keeper and all back four making their first appearance of the season, five young graduates started, average age of team a fraction over 24 against a virtual ten man defence. Always a bit frustrating to watch but some good performances from the likes of Gomes, Greenwood and Tuanzebe and 3 points in the end.

I didn’t comment at the time but just remind me how Liverpool fared midweek?:D

Bit harsh on Bairstow, his wicket keeping keeps getting better even if he hasn't been in the runs. Sibley is an overdue call up.

If you don't score enough runs then one cannot moan that he has suddenly been dropped as wicket keeping skills alone will not get you into a test side nowadays.

It does segway nicely with the Aus Tests which kick off at midnight, filling the lunch interval. Pak started well but...
Aus last lost at in the Gabba in 1988! That looks nice too but too hot for me, and anyone else it seems...

Unfortunately as we have floods, they have forest fires, (something s up with the climate maybe?) plus Mrs K doesn't like spiders....

Could certainly do France, love my wine and cheese, it's where the high profile Brexiters emigrate to , not much cricket though....

( Think I've managed to cover cricket , climate change and Brexit there, well done me ! :))

England are once again attempting to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Awful shot from Pope, Curran not much better.:(

We are in a decent position this morning though with King Kane just departing.

We're in a less decent position this morning.! This why Test cricket is great, things change from day to day. Broad is starting to look past it, Curran looked the only bowler causing problems. Archer didn't even get the second new ball. Root is a poor captain I'm afraid.

Off to get some sleep now need to recuperate to get up in time for a footy match. Life's tough ;)

Yes l woke up this morning and it was pretty disappointing that they were still batting and they had a first innings lead.

l don't disagree with many of your sentiments as well.
