Already negotiated a deal my friend :) not the cheapest but still decent and cheaper than vm ;) £30p/m for 12 months upto 55mb unlimited bb, weekend calls plus my bt mobile sim.
Always worth phoning them (any company that is) when you get notified of price rises, been looking at sse bb too £21p/m anytime calls upto 78mbs.

Yes, SSE are meant to be good in-contract but poor prices outside the contract, a bit like BT. But good to have another player in the market. Well done on the BT deal. :D

If openreach get split from BT i think we will see more competetion and competetive prices.
Heard vm themselves are cabling new areas too so things could get very interesting.

Here why Copa 90 is on Demand:

Liberty Global’s media investment arm own a 14% stake in Big Balls Media, the London-based firm behind online football channel Copa90.

You can see what Liberty Interactive Group own (As of December 2013):

The Mexico City ePrix was shown live on one of the 99* channels if I remember correctly. This was due to a scheduling conflict on ITV4 where they had a delayed viewing.

OK. if it's coming to Fire TV then you're right, there is more of a chance of it coming to VM, and probably YouView as well.

At the back of my mind has been the interview earlier this year with David Bouchier headed "Virgin Media turns up the television volume to transform its neglected pay-TV business". Granted, most of the article is about Tivo but he concludes "We’re back. That is the sum of it. We are back.”

Slight off topic, ( nothing new at vm to chat about) who seen fifth harmony on BGT. This is was not terrable but not by far the best and to me fell flat despite bands attempts vocally they can sing I wonder if auto tune or lip sync caused issues

I still say BGT is fixed. SC I believe has arranged for the Gospel Singers to win. The Irish Choir, were there biggest challengers. Yet some how the 'audience' vote sent them home.

Storm troopers - SC act will come Second.
Sad, I cannot understand why they don't show how many votes for each act.

Surely this would be an App like Netflix where you cannot record and can only watch on-demand through the TIVO's modem, and more crucially for VM, where you'd pay your money direct to Disney.

My feeling is that this would move people towards the cheaper VM bundles for TV. There is a large proportion of the market that will only have XL TV for Disney.[COLOR="Silver"]

Noticed yesterday that channel 100, the PPV preview channel, had sport advertised in its EPG listings.

Today it has been relabelled as BT Sport Showcase.

I imagine that this is temporary to advertise the free football for those without BT Sport as VM won't want to lose the first EPG slot used for advertising PPV films.

Wonder if it's the same on non TiVo boxes?

Thanks, it was a good idea as it highlighted the free sport available to customers.

Back to normal today though.

Do you know if any recordings made from this channel are accessible after the free period ends? I ask because i'm assuming that this channel is a simulcast of one of the BT Sport channels, which are premium channels and I believe that any recordings made from premium channels (Sky or otherwise) cannot be accessed once access to said channel ceases??

I think recordings should work. The free channel is totally unrelated to the premium channels as far as STBs are concerned. The channel is now on 548.

The problems comes MM when Sky buy up 90% of the content so the vast majority of us can't see it unless one subscribes to their packages and seeing their bottomless pockets are much bigger then anybody else's this will sadly continue to the detriment of anybody who does not subscribe to Sky packages.

They haven't bought up 90% of content and the Entertainment content they have bought can be had for £4-£5 a month.

I don't mind the programmes being available on just the Sky packages provided the channels on which they appear are accessible on all pay tv platforms.

You edited your post muppet and added "fair price", so I was correct with what I wrote. Sky Sports costs considerable more yet you have no problem with that being unfair? I guess you could always get VM and pay less for BT Sports as you're always here posting, must be unhappy with your Sky services?

Yes I am, just to see what Sky promotion you might be doing over there. I have no issues with your posts, it's an open forum and I'm no moderator. Just merely corrected you.

If it looks good on a 50" TV, it should look better on a 32" TV.

On Demand/catchup is 720p and ideal for a 32" TV. At normal viewing distances, going from 720p to 1080p on a 32" TV, will gain nothing PQ wise in reality.

720p on my 40" set looks fine; very watchable.

I doubt that is the reason; one of my TV's is a similar age. Most TV's have adjustable settings for each input. Maybe the input used for HDMI input used needs tweaking?

The majority of people just accept the TV settings out of the box , it's always worth tweaking them.

I think the default settings are designed to look best in shops but not in people's houses.

The modern sets have what they call a "shop" setting, seems to bring out the best on the bigger screens, especially in large stores.

BT Sport Europe +1 is now testing on satellite, I wonder if it will appear on VM?

Heard rumours that channels may be able to extend their ad breaks by saving up their 12 mins per hour allowance. I imagine that they will reduce advertising during off peak hours so that they can sell more airtime during the more lucrative peak times.

Mine doesn't have shop mode, but i found setting the picture setting to natural gives a superb picture but because i game a lot i tweaked the contrast too.

I was told the main idea of SHOP mode is they always reset back to the defaults to stop people messing up the settings.

Dynamic was what used to be used in shops, on plasma anyway. It wacked the contrast and brightness right up so everything looked nice and bright in the stores.

All we are asking what will close for Sky to launch Sky Sports Mix?

We think the following channels maybe one for the chop.

-Sky 2 (With no HD channel for Sky Sports Mix)
-Sky Real Lives (And Sky Real Lives for Sky Sports Mix HD)
-Sky Sports 5 (And Sky Sports 5 HD for Sky Sports Mix HD)

At time of posting Sky Sports Mix will only launch on Sky.

The argument for this stupid idea was that more people had SSN HQ as opposed to Sky Sports. Maybe Sky insisted on the change via a contractual agreement??

Sky Real Lives is now simply called Real Lives leading many people to believe that this will be the next Sky channel to go FTA.

I doubt Sky will want to make it look like they have less sports channels.

There are no restrictions to HD channels wanting to join Sky, it's just the SD launch queue that's been closed.

This means that they could obtain a slot from an SD only channel and launch a new HD variant.

We only put Sky Real Lives on that list do it being names Livingit in the past 7 years.

And also what Sky have done with ex-Virgin Media Television channels since 2010.

-Challenge - both channels still on air now also on Freeview and Freesat.
-Virgin 1 - channels axe in 2011.
-Jackpot Challenge - channel axe on new year eve 2010.
-Bravo - channels axe on new year eve 2010.
-Bravo 2 - channel axe on new year eve 2010.
-Living - still on air now called Sky Living
-Livingit - still on air now called Sky Real Lives
-Living Loves - channel axe to make way for Sky Sports F1 to launch.

So the state of play is for example

1. Sky put sky sports up for all customers

2. Virgin lose sky sports 5 and 5 HD and get nothing back

3. Sky customers get sky sports mix and mix HD

Fair don't think not

Whether that happens is very much open to question but when you have no content you ain't got much to barter with in my opinion.
