Brightness issues on Amazon Prime this evening (screen keeps dimming), but so far so good with no dimming issues on any other source.

Also the tv has a satellite tuner but cant seem to filter encrypted channels so 'found' over 1000 channels but most not watchable.

Altogether pretty happy.

Not sure if your TV is a 4K model but if so you can tune to the Astra 4K demo at 28.2 E.

Yeah those encrypted channels are pains in the backside, my Samsung has sattelite, terrestial and cable tuners although the cable one isn't uk lol. Sattelite picks up well over 3000 channels a majority of them are either encrypted or duplicates takes awhile to organse them all, but worth it as the channels are then set out how you want them.

Is BT Sport Extra 1 going to get it's own EPG slot or we just continue to access via red button?

I'm especially glad that ESPN HD will be back at 530, as that was my go to number for years! I currently keep finding myself accidentally on the SD channels as 530 is BT Sport 1 SD.

First world problems and all....

Laughable isn't it my parents are on 100mb and regularly only see speeds of 10-15mb if they are lucky especially at weekends and evenings and this is after so called work to improve congestion.

I honestly can't see the point of upgrades if they aren't capable of delivering current speeds at peak times to everyone , in my experience they also take an age to deal with congestion.

Got wired connection to pc and check it regularly and it is usually between 154mbs and going to maximum of 162mbs download, the upload is usually around 13mbs.

Have been involved in the Sam Knows broadband speed test which has a box attached to my router and the speed on the results they send each month rarely drops below 152mbs,

There is an occasional blip but nothing to cause any problem, might just be lucky where I live in Bishopbriggs

I think the area you live does make a difference. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I am able to get a wireless speed of 50mb on my smartphone...I don't have anything wired into my router, but I guess that my speeds would be close to the 152mb that I am on.

Spot on good sir. I have 150mb and at peak barely meet 10mb. I'm told I have a utilisation problem I'm given a reference number but in order to get a refund I have to call up every month even though they know it's a problem!

Rather than gimmicks and headlines why not provide the service they promise currently ;)

Good point!

However, I am fairly confident that we will get the channel quietly, as was the case with BT Sport.

We are of course, BT Sport customers, via the XL pack!

But we are not, it's a wholesale agreement between VM and BT and we are customers of virgin. I don't pay for BT

Fear The Walking Dead is on AMC in both countries, The Walking Dead has different channels in each.

Sorry, edited my reply after posting as I realised it was on Fox and hoped no one would have a chance to squeeze in a reply!
I think AMC will become more important in the UK over time but now it's a bit constrained by AMC's rights deals with other UK channels. By then, it may even be on VM!

ITV Encore is pretty certain to come, but only when the period of exclusitivity with Sky expires. The channel launched on 9 June 2014. If it was exclusive for 18 months then it could launch on VM this December.
TruTV, Spike and Sky Atlantic appear less likely. But maybe the AMC situation will encourage VM to get TruTV and Spike.

You are effectively paying BT through your subscription to the XL pack.

To my mind, that makes us BT customers, albeit in a second hand sort of way!

As expected, some channel slots have now been vacated and moved to their new homes.

The one off events channel on 548 has temporarily been renamed 'Channel Moved' and is currently showing an information slate for customers who previously visited this number for ESPN HD.

I wonder if BT insisted on this channel as part of VM getting BT Europe? Surely it won't go down well that customers will have to go to another platform to see the remaining episodes? Could VM launch it on 1 September instead?

AMC is going to be on VM not long after launch, my source expected it end of this month but they got their dates mixed up.

Thought it would be; seemed only logical. I believe that it's more problematic for cable companies to switch the encryption on and off too than it is for satellite.

I wasn't given a start date, but Andrew makes a good point about 'Fear The Walking Dead.

There are a few bugs:

1. Going to BTSP Europe HD, pressing red, then choosing the first feed which is what BTSP Europe is showing currently will then load the SD variant and not go back to the HD one.

2. The choose match screen says at the bottom "press sky/tv on your TiVo remote to exit this screen", obviously we don't have a sky button, we have a TV one though. so it should say home/tv instead.

So, it seems that VM remote controls are expected to have a Sky button now(!)

Talking pictures shows very old movies aka 50s 60s so a few of you movie fans might enjoy it, it is however available on freesat from SKY or can be manually tuned in on a freesat box etc.

Bit more info on it now if you have a freeview hd box or tv you'll get it it will not be available on standard freeview boxes, the best way to know if you'll get it is if you are getting bbc4hd and motors tv you'll get talking pictures.

If thats the case, you will need a Freeview HD receiver AND be in range of a transmitter carrying the lower powered COM7 mux.

That's right, that's the mux it's going on (less reach, but cheaper carriage.). I'm surprised they haven't gone the IPTV route.

Just been looking at the AMC channel schedules for next week. It looks pretty good.

I hope we get the channel in time to catch all the programmes from the beginning.

The TV and Satellite Week magazine states after the channel number displays:

AMC is currently available to Sky viewers who subscribe to the BT Sport package, and to BT TV customers.

Very carefully worded, don't you think?
