Yes. Works perfectly on 3G. Make sure your location services are on if you are using iPhone.
Happy days

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 3

My DND just got lifted.
So here it is rumoured the whole Tivo software is going to have a major overhaul, this will see a complete colour change on the menus and other changes such as on demand being available at the click of one button and also 4 digit channel numbers, for example bbc1 would become 1001.
This is set to begin in 2015, atm it's only a rumour as only 1 source has told me this.
I know some of you will have questions but this is all i know at the moment as soon as i get more infor i will post it here.

The main (sky) sky sports app from the app store.

It will give you the option of signing in via Virgin. Have you updated the app

Thanks for the info :)

I wonder what the reasoning is behind the colour change and the 4 digit channel numbers?

Have you pressed the little person at top right of screen? That should take you to the log in page.

I think the 4 digits will happen as it opens up more space for launches of new channels, Sky already do this with the radio service.

The colour change i think is to do with HD etc to make it more better and eye pleasing.

Can someone confirm this just been told you can't take the sports season ticket if you already have offers on your account?

I wouldn't know as i don't have the tv vm were kind enough to let me drop tv and phone even though i was still in contract, but a friend just got told by cs as he has discounts on his account he can't take the sports season ticket.

But it's a Sky Basics channel, Sirius. I think there is a matter of principle here and Virgin are not prepared to step over this red line. It creates a precedent and would ultimately not be in our interests for Sky to believe that they can get away with ripping VM customers off.

I think Virgin should concentrate on finding alternative ways of making SA programmes available to its viewers and with Liberty Global's expanding content availability as well as other sources, start launching some Virgin exclusive channels that are worth having. This would give them something to bargain with.

I would suspect it is something to do with margins. If they are offering equivalent of £12 per month discount to all SS customers then this would be some of the margin they are using to offer the loyalty discounts etc. I have a £8 per month loyalty discount for the next 18 months so the offer would be identical to me.

The advantage to Virgin is they get the cash in the bank which may say something as well.

Depends what you mean by offers.... I had already switched to Kahuna with the sports and movies but Twitter and Customer Services confirmed I could by the Season Ticket...

Guess that's a bundle change not an offer... but it seems like an offer....

The username and password for signing into the app, I take it is the same username ( which is usually your email addy ) and password that you use to access your Virgin Media account?

That makes sense. TiVo in the US is issuing a complete rewrite of software this July, abandoning the slow and cumbersome Flash/Air UI and introducing a new Haxe developed interface that should be faster for customers and developers alike. More over on VMHD and SlashGear.

Two devices? So two iphones or one iphone and 1 computer?

Originally Posted by vincerooney (Post 35715699)

From Sky:
Quote:

Sky Go allows up to two registered devices which can stream both On Demand and live content (the range of which is dependent on your subscription)
Sky Go allows you to stream (watch) content on both of your registered devices at the same time.
(If you want to download content to watch offline later, you need Sky Go Extra, which is not an option for VM customers)

Device Limits / How often can I change my registered device?
You can change one of your registered devices every month by following these steps:

Sign in to Sky Go using your Sky iD and password.
Select the settings button at the top of the screen.
Select manage device on the left of the screen.

When is my device registered on Sky systems?
Please note if you have not streamed content on a device before (therefore it is unregistered) that device will automatically be registered when you start playing content.

*Note - The act of signing into the Sky Go website is not enough to register the device you are using. Registration only occurs when you have signed in and attempt to stream a programme.

What constitutes a device change?
Removing a device is not considered a device change.
Adding a new device is considered a device change.
Removing then re-adding the same device is considered a "device change"
If you have already made a device change in the past month, you will be able to remove all of your registered devices, however you will not be able to add any new devices until the next calendar month.

Just a little humour Den , its good to see VM Sky Sports/Movies customers now getting the full experience.

The Sky Sports iPad app is really good especially using the companion features for F1 race control , Premier League and Masters Golf it has features like replays , team lineups , game stats , twitter feed and all sorts of other features.

Why ? Sky can now see what's proving popular with an even larger percentage of its Sky Sports/Movies userbase , makes perfect sense for both sides.

Great news, I'll have a look at setting this up.

Look like I'll get 2 devices for Sky Movies/Sport as well as the 2 devices I get for TV Anywhere.

It's probably to stop people using their friend\family sky go for free

They know people will let their friends\family have access to sky without having big to pay for it. That's the only reason I can think of.

Because if it was anymore people would be dishing logins out to all their friends losing Sky Sports potential customers.

On Sky you can pay £5 for Sky Go extra which allows 4 devices and the ability to download content to mobile devices , it also available at no extra cost for Sky Multiroom subscribers.

Exactly. My brother uses my SKY Go to access SKY Movies and SKY Atlantic. In return I use his Netflix account. I also sometimes use my parents Virgin Anywhere account to watch BT Sports.

Yup, I use my brothers sky go to watch the cricket now and again, he uses my TV anywhere for BT sports. Fair swap in my eyes, but probably not in the eyes of the content providers.:-(

Just seen on the VM news that they now have added HD channels on sports. So, why isn't SS1 on HD on the system whereas you can get HD SS3/4 within the package ?

He has just proven the point that I was making the other day that the way the sports channels are now organised is confusing.

He only had to check his TV guide, or the VM website in a bit more detail to find the answer.

I have just got off the phone - after an HOUR, with CS. They could not tell me.

I have the SSpackage and pay for the package, BUT cannot get the HD channels, and yet according to there website - we now have the HD channels Free.

The BT HD channels are free.

The Sky Sports & Movies HD channels are £7 extra, as they have always been. Where do you think it says they are free?

Maybe this caused confusion

http://my.virginmedia.com/customer-n...l-numbers.html

"We've recently added some fantastic new channels to the Virgin line-up. If you subscribe to the Sky Sports package, you'll get Sky Sports 3 HD, Sky Sports 4 HD, and Sky Sports F1 HD included in your package and all at no extra cost!."

No mention of having to have SKY Premium HD and no mention of having to pay £7.00. Clearly states if you subscribe to SKY Sports you get the new HD channels.

I took the subscription offer Friday, asked the CS man if the deal included the HD channels twice each time he asked another and can back with a yes answer. Promised that the changes would be up in 24 hours, time now well over with no HD channels showing up. I'll give them a call in the morning and keep you updated. I was basing questions on your quote as well

The thing is, Vince, that we now have the majority of the channels we wanted. There is only one decent channel (that will remain nameless - shhhh!) that we don't have, so this year is not going to be a patch on last year! I really think the emphasis now will be on streaming services, although Mr Malone's recent activities may indicate that the content war will resume in the not too distant future!

If that doesn't work, get in touch with them via Twitter. I did last year when they promised me something and it never happened, so they gave me the channels for free for 6 months.

I have Sky Atlantic on Sky - and to be honest I've only founds 2-3 series that ever looked good. Started to watch them and found them terrible.

Personal choice - but If Sky said we are going to remove a Sky branded channel from your line-up, pick which one you prefer us to remove - I would say "Sky Atlantic".

There is nothing wrong with extra chargable content because at the end of the day people don't have to subscribe to it Howard.

Can't see a issue with it myself, you don't have to subscribe to the new pay services.
It's good to have choice on one box imo hence why i ended up buying a ROKU lol.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 3

Whilst we're talking about the possibility of Amazon Instant Video coming to TiVo, I just signed up for a 30 day trial of the service last night. I thought you have to pay £79.00 up front if you wanted to keep the service however I noticed when signing up that Amazon also offer the video service on it's own for £5.99 per month.

Must admit the service is pretty good. Some surprises I didn't expect to see as part of the subscription like every episode of the Borgias and HBO's Deadwood.

Starting to seriously consider Freeview along with Netflix and Amazon Instant rather than an expensive TV subscription.
