Next rumour I hear I'm posting, big thank you for the pm I have just received.back at yer ds forum and yer horrible little trolls and is name is media boy and this is a coming soon thread on the best forum not a lies and slagging off forum like diarrhea spy forum and it's cronies

This is the first time that I have seen you post in this manner Howard! Try not to get too upset, there are good and bad people on this forum as well as all the others.

It's all too easy to get caught up in forums, but try to keep things in perspective, remember, it's only a television service!

There are lots of people who would give their right arm for the fact that they can't receive a particular television channel to be their worst problem in life :)

Thanks for the info. It would make sense to do it all in the one contract.

Good on you both for standing up to bullies, i've stood up to them since childhood and continue to do so to this day.

What is disappointing is when people charged with ensuring a forum runs smoothly are the ones doing the bullying, baiting and harrassment.

I predict more big things from Virgin in the coming months. I think some of the moves by Virgin have caught the attention of SKY. SKY have been canvassing some customers on the recent deal between Virgin and Netflix. SKY are currently looking at some new innovations. Some SKY customers have made it very clear that Virgin currently offer the best all round value packages and they intend to jump ship when their contract expires

The feedback from SKY customers is SKY Atlantic and the selection of HD channels are still 2 of the big selling points. That's what makes me think a deal for the missing SKY HD channels, and SKY Atlantic, might not be as close as rumored. We will just have to wait and see....

Don't think its a change of stance bud, just lg are becoming a bit of a threat/competition again.i have both so I can see both sides and got to say both have there good points.got to say sky have upped there game since I was last a customer and there customer service as improved 100% my heart belongs to vm but my head belongs to both.next September I will be reviewing my options and with a bit of juggling I am hoping to keep both as either will be hard to give up for the other ;)

I had that on Sky analogue. IIRC it closed down due to low viewing figures, but carried on in America.

Wow - just checked out the last 7 pages since yesterday teatime, to find 6 and three quarters of it were posts regarding DS.

Personally, I find the constant rumours irritating at times, but it is my choice to read them, so I take them with a pinch of salt, and give credit where credit is due.

I'm still trying to comprehend a channel launch being delayed due to MB posting a rumour !! I have heard some things in my time, but that is now the tops.

MB, Howard, and all the others, I consider you all my friends, even though I don't know you. Keep up the posting!

Group hug people.

MB should continue what he does best keep people updated all virginmedia will do if people flood theim with "ive heard this ive heard that" will just refer them to customer news website link.

Keep up the good work MB, yes no doubt virginmedia will be scanning these pages and probably wondering who at vm are the insiders so i hope the insiders are careful since vm are shedding jobs. Just be careful

What he said....

As much as I respect all MB has done for us in the past I don't believe for one second that the multi million £ company Liberty Global saw a channel launch rumour on this thread and thought "Right, we can't launch this channel now as Media Boy has told everyone it could launch. Flick the switch... those bar stewards aren't having it for another month now." (Cue maniacal laugh)

I want to stress I am NOT having a go, or taking the wee we out of MB in ANY WAY here, just the idea that he or we would have one jot of influence over channel launches.

H'mm, interesting. I was quietly hoping that we would get Sky Atlantic in time for the first episode of the Game of Thrones second series that starts next week. If it's not until a couple of weeks time or so, hopefully we will get access to it through Sky On Demand.

They've already been trialing this for a few years in one area of London. Is your source suggesting they are rolling this out futher afield?

Yes they're rolling it out to other areas as early as 2014.

Shouldn't do - quite a few countries offer speeds of that level almost as standard. Typical Britain - always playing catch up!

Let's rephrase the question ... for business or home use ? - sounds like business only ?

Arent most pc's nic's only 1 gig not 1.5 ???

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/news/4...o-techhub.html

---------- Post added at 13:05 ---------- Previous post was at 13:03 ----------

Home uses would have to upgrade their nic cards or mobos to see the extra speeds then.

Was thinking that myself.

And there was me thinking my 120mb was fast enough for me ! - it's mind boggling how quickly we become dependent on speed - but I do wonder if we could ever (as home users) utilise that type of speed ?

(trying hard not to think of traffic management with that speed !!)

It won't be 1.5 they actually roll out, presumbly they're just testing the network so see what it can deliver.

Liberty/VM have stated they want to stay ahead of BT/Openreach FTTC speeds and with FTTP appearing in small areas delivering 300mb+, VM need to get a move on.

Personally, a unmanaged, untraffic shaped, 60mb service will do me nicely.

Also speed on hard drives processing the data it gets will cause bottlenecking as stated in the link ive posted

Horizon 11-10-2013 14:13

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 5.

VM need to concentrate on the "quality" of their network, not just speed.

With the imminent launch of Netflix on VM and Netflix launching ultra hd over 15mb streams. VM need to ensure that they can deliver at least one or two 15mb streams to everyone without problems and STM.

Streaming tv will quickly take the place of the usenet downloads soon and requires huge capacity. In fact it already does, ie iplayer.

I agree with this. My connection has never been anything less than stable for speed - I always get slightly under 120 mb download and around 22 mb upload, but reading the forums, I seem to be in a minority

How are VM and Netflix going to deliver streams of 15mb to Tivo boxes when the boxes are limited to 10mb?

Good news however that they are testing it, I know the area im in can max speeds of 482mb/s as a VM Tech told me.

Sky Channels I can see coming soon, there is too many different people coming with info for it to be one person trying to dupe everyone.

Rumour: Netfix may launch very soon in all areas.

I'm hearing vm customers will get 6 month free trial and it'll be free on XL tv pack but at a discounted rate of £3p/m for other tv packs except for M which it'll be full price.

This is all great news, topping off a fantastic year.

I like all the rumours flying around as it's a great way of getting some insight into the future of VM.

I'd love Sky Atlantic to start before the 16th October as The Tunnel starts then and that looks quite interesting, if not I hope on demand has been negotiated as well.

Also I'm now looking into how I can cancel my Lovefilm subscription! ;)

If we get all the sky HD channels, netflix and other HD versions of popular channels will we all cease to exist? Will this thread just stop? I'm excited about it all happening but i keep asking myself "what on earth will i still need then? Will i ever feel the buzz and excitement from a media boy post?"

We constantly use all three tuners in our house, so the extra's will be handy
