MS has announced far better support for indie devs, including self-publishing:

http://www.polygon.com/2013/7/24/455...elf-publishing

Self-publishing is also coming to the 360 at last:

http://www.polygon.com/2013/7/26/456...says-developer

What this all means is that indie devs will no longer have to spend $$$$ having a proper publisher to be able to get their games on the XBLA.

I also read something related to this about MS improving the certification process for XBLA games.

No headset included with the Xbox one.

Multiple years to create a rechargeable controller and have failed to do so. Typical attempt into duping people out of another £15-£20 for a rechargeable kit.

One step forward and ten steps back. £499 and no headset.. someone's having a laugh here.

If you can download your game anytime, anywhere, and you can play it while downloading, would that not mean smaller drive?

Only if you wanted to play games offline, and several games, would it cause issue.

But I am a simple soul, if it plays, I am happy :)

Jameseh 01-08-2013 23:46

Right you play while it downloads, but the data has to be stored somewhere. You don't stream the entire game.

Re: The Xbox One Thread

I don't have an issue with the size. If I run out of room, I can either use an external USB3 HDD or I can just delete stuff I don't play anymore... Anything you have downloaded can always be re-downloaded for free later on, anything you have installed can always be re-installed later on.

The deleting was what i meant.

It would be an issue if you were using the storage and never deleting

Oh wow 53mhz! that's really going to make a difference.

I have not bothered overclocking the gpu's in my pc apart from when I run a benchmark since, overvolting and overclocking gpu's will reduce the lifespan quite allot.

My 680's when I first got them would do +200 on the core and +400 on the ram, now after they have been overclocked and benchmarked around 5 times they will no longer do more than +100/+300, and that is 5 times at around 1 hour's worth of 100% load.

I can see this leading to another RROD issue.

Just flog it on eBay, one burke will always end up breaking it and need a replacement.

Re: The Xbox One Thread

It feels a bit like not next gen, i say this because all the things that made the Xbox One unique and great have all been changed and MS have backpedaled. The whole point of making Kinect part of Xbox one is that devs could make games with Kinect support and now this news means that devs may not even bother with Kinect

Re: The Xbox One Thread

I don't see much appeal in either console anymore. They don't look anything like next generation if you're a heavy pc gamer like myself. I loved the online system on the 360 but there isn't going to be that many changes to warrant calling it next gen. Bigger console with some memory and graphics upgrades filled with false lies of live streaming and video capturing of which isn't the case anymore. Ships with a poorly made headset that will break after a month so they can charge you 20 quid for a new one. Wireless headset available but the 500 quid price tag isn't enough to ship it in the box so you'll be forking out 40 quid for that. Heavily rendered screen shots and trailers combined with game play that was actually produced by a GTX 780. A controller that runs on AA batteries despite being 1 upped by Sony last time round.

Naturally none of this matters when you have a fan base as delusional as Apple users that will lap up any piece of crap set in front of them.

It isn't a hard feature to implement. It essentially already exists. Xbox live works on both Xbox and Pc with both sides sending and receiving messages as well as a note saying playing w.e game on GFWL. Remember your gamertags won't be changing and should you still have them on xbox live whilst they're using a 360 you'll appear to them as using X1.

Smartglass. PC. Xbox One. Xbox 360.

The four ways to communicate throughout xbox live

As for voice communication indeed is restricted to its console but it's plausible Skype for XBL will solve that anyway.

Re: The Xbox One Thread

I wouldn't.

EA is in partnership with Sony/Microsoft, more Microsoft but still, EA's new ignite engine and it's features won't be available on PC/Xbox 360 or PS3. All three are capable of running the new engine and the PC is greater than any next gen console anyway.

So yeah, to effectively get FIFA 14 you have to be an owner of the new consoles otherwise you're getting FIFA 13 with some kit updates and a tiny amount of 'new' features, new meaning old rehashed stuff.

Here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ignite_(game_engine)

Note that the Ignite engine seems to be a Next Gen exclusive.

On an Xbox note, I need to see more reasons to buy it for me to actually make a purchase, a new Gears trilogy would have me get it.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion i guess. My feeling is the PS4 is way better in hardware, it is just whether in the real world it will make any difference when the games are side by side.

Saying that there is always a small chance i may get an Xbox One but currently unlikely until i see the same games run side by side and this is coming from an Xbox 360 owner as you know. :)

Controller. I'm going to be using it for more hours than I'd like to imagine and I just cannot happily use a dualshock after using a 360 pad.

Reason why I changed is the drop of the Kinect requirement, otherwise I'd still be with PS4.

You play games purely to look at ? . So your telling me if you played shooters you would rather play call of duty ghosts with a minuscule difference in graphics than go for the better gaming experience with one platform providing dedicated servers. Games are about the gaming experience surely ?

Better graphics do not make a better console ;)

Or a game.I've gone back to Settlers 2 because it's a better game than all the sequels..Not on the Xbox of course but I am making a point that the best graphics in a game don't give you a better gameplay..

Reason why I changed is the drop of the Kinect requirement, otherwise I'd still be with PS4.

Yes the controller is 1 thing that is bugging me especially now it has force feedback triggers, as i have always prefered the 360 controller so IF i was to go for the PS4 i would hope their controller has improved alot. :)

I play games i enjoy, so if 1 console is able to make a noticeable difference in the quality of graphics and gameplay then i may be more inclined to buy that console.

Hmz, i hadn't really thought about the impact of not having dedicated servers, and if that is in every game then it may prove a problem for me if it is an issue, so that is something else to think about and weigh up the pros and cons of each console when people finally have their hands on both to review and compare. :)

the difference between the 2 GFX chips being using will not be massive, I do not personally think the ram will make a huge difference either

If what happens is how I expect and PC gamers benefit from the consoles X86 architecture then the most powerful console will be a gaming PC lol

I know i am going to have to wait and see before buying as i don't want to jump the gun here and wont buy both.

The Xbox One is far more appealing now that you can unplug the Kinect crap though i must admit........ Only a few months left for me to decide what is best for me.

Are you going to buy 1 of them Tizme? :)

My killer point is online games. So i think it will be xbox one.

But not thinking to hold off, and wait and see.

I feel indecisive, I think. :D

Is there a rumoured release date for the Xbox One yet?

After watching Titan Fall and other games and i also like the changes to the controller with the rumble, i may be interested in the Xbox One again. :)

No date other than "November 2013" but it wouldn't surprise me if they make it within a few days of the PS4 launch

The inquirer seems to suggest 29 Nov
http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/...d-availability

That (as vOid suggests) would put it the same as PS4.

Where is the recommended place to buy the Xbox One on pre order as i have finally decided to stay with Xbox? :)

And are the cost of the games likely to be cheaper than £50 when bought in the UK as that is a joke, surely they will be if we can import them for around £38?

I stopped my pre-order.

But equally, there might be trade-in offers going closer to the time. I have a PS3 or xbox 360 that I would happily trade in

I don't really play football games but seeing it is free on this pre order while stocks last i thought i would snap it up.

Also i plan to import 2 games for around £38 each rather than buying from the UK too.

It looks like i have missed the Amazon Day one edition as they're now out of stock, hope it comes back in stock soon as i thought it was good to buy from there seeing they're so big.

I am now looking at Tesco, is there a better option?

Well there's the option I'm considering which is waiting all the way up to about release day in hopes of seeing bundles offered by stores.

Hoping to snag at least 2 games, 2 controllers, wireless headset & P+P kit with the console.

Littlewoods usually offer these but at ridiculous prices.

I just ordered the Day One Edition with the free Fifa 14, all i paid was a £20 deposit.

As for games, i will always import them from places like Play Asia for around £38 rather than paying the £50-60 UK current prices.

All in all i am happy i stuck with the Xbox i think, i am looking forward to the new controller with the new impulse trigger rumble, and Titan Fall looks awesome. :)

There is an interesting technical post over at Neowin about the X1 architecture, which seems to point to it being far better than people had thought. The forum posts mean nothing to me but it is a good read, if it is accurate.

For the people that are getting games on disk you aware that smart match won't be too great as you will have to ether wait or change the disk when it's matched a game

SnoopZ 28-08-2013 19:54

Re: The Xbox One Thread

I don't know what smart match is, i won't be buying digital if those digital games cost £50-60 pounds, but if i can get them for £38 the same as an import disk then i would go digital. :)

Why would you need to change the disk when those disks are blu ray, so surely they will mostly be 1 disk games? :)
