Re: The Xbox One Thread
MS has announced far better support for indie devs, including self-publishing:
http://www.polygon.com/2013/7/24/455...elf-publishing Self-publishing is also coming to the 360 at last: http://www.polygon.com/2013/7/26/456...says-developer What this all means is that indie devs will no longer have to spend $$$$ having a proper publisher to be able to get their games on the XBLA. I also read something related to this about MS improving the certification process for XBLA games. |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
Which is all very good news

No headset included with the Xbox one. Multiple years to create a rechargeable controller and have failed to do so. Typical attempt into duping people out of another £15-£20 for a rechargeable kit. One step forward and ten steps back. £499 and no headset.. someone's having a laugh here. |

|
Re: The Xbox One Thread
Hey, at least they won't be selling overpriced hard drives for the X-bone as the do with the 360, it doesn't have an upgradeable one. MS believe 500gb is futureproof

Re: The Xbox One Thread
Right you play while it downloads, but the data has to be stored somewhere. You don't stream the entire game.
|
Re: The Xbox One Thread
I don't have an issue with the size. If I run out of room, I can either use an external USB3 HDD or I can just delete stuff I don't play anymore... Anything you have downloaded can always be re-downloaded for free later on, anything you have installed can always be re-installed later on.

Re: The Xbox One Thread
Oh wow 53mhz! that's really going to make a difference.
I have not bothered overclocking the gpu's in my pc apart from when I run a benchmark since, overvolting and overclocking gpu's will reduce the lifespan quite allot. My 680's when I first got them would do +200 on the core and +400 on the ram, now after they have been overclocked and benchmarked around 5 times they will no longer do more than +100/+300, and that is 5 times at around 1 hour's worth of 100% load. I can see this leading to another RROD issue. |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
Rumours on internet saying MS have set 5th Nov for release date. It was also on MS COD:Ghosts site whihc i have seen this
|
Re: The Xbox One Thread
Headset now included, please continue to have an uproar over anything MS does so we may get a console worthy of it's price.

Re: The Xbox One Thread
It feels a bit like not next gen, i say this because all the things that made the Xbox One unique and great have all been changed and MS have backpedaled. The whole point of making Kinect part of Xbox one is that devs could make games with Kinect support and now this news means that devs may not even bother with Kinect
|
Re: The Xbox One Thread
Another reason why it would be wise to wait a month or so to get both consoles compared with each other and hear their strengths and weaknesses before deciding on which console to purchase.

|
Re: The Xbox One Thread
I don't see much appeal in either console anymore. They don't look anything like next generation if you're a heavy pc gamer like myself. I loved the online system on the 360 but there isn't going to be that many changes to warrant calling it next gen. Bigger console with some memory and graphics upgrades filled with false lies of live streaming and video capturing of which isn't the case anymore. Ships with a poorly made headset that will break after a month so they can charge you 20 quid for a new one. Wireless headset available but the 500 quid price tag isn't enough to ship it in the box so you'll be forking out 40 quid for that. Heavily rendered screen shots and trailers combined with game play that was actually produced by a GTX 780. A controller that runs on AA batteries despite being 1 upped by Sony last time round.
Naturally none of this matters when you have a fan base as delusional as Apple users that will lap up any piece of crap set in front of them. |

Re: The Xbox One Thread
I wouldn't.
EA is in partnership with Sony/Microsoft, more Microsoft but still, EA's new ignite engine and it's features won't be available on PC/Xbox 360 or PS3. All three are capable of running the new engine and the PC is greater than any next gen console anyway. So yeah, to effectively get FIFA 14 you have to be an owner of the new consoles otherwise you're getting FIFA 13 with some kit updates and a tiny amount of 'new' features, new meaning old rehashed stuff. Here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ignite_(game_engine) Note that the Ignite engine seems to be a Next Gen exclusive. On an Xbox note, I need to see more reasons to buy it for me to actually make a purchase, a new Gears trilogy would have me get it. |

Controller. I'm going to be using it for more hours than I'd like to imagine and I just cannot happily use a dualshock after using a 360 pad.
Reason why I changed is the drop of the Kinect requirement, otherwise I'd still be with PS4. |

Re: The Xbox One Thread
Where is the recommended place to buy the Xbox One on pre order as i have finally decided to stay with Xbox? :)
And are the cost of the games likely to be cheaper than £50 when bought in the UK as that is a joke, surely they will be if we can import them for around £38? |

I don't really play football games but seeing it is free on this pre order while stocks last i thought i would snap it up.
Also i plan to import 2 games for around £38 each rather than buying from the UK too. |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
It looks like i have missed the Amazon Day one edition as they're now out of stock, hope it comes back in stock soon as i thought it was good to buy from there seeing they're so big.
I am now looking at Tesco, is there a better option? |

As for games, i will always import them from places like Play Asia for around £38 rather than paying the £50-60 UK current prices. All in all i am happy i stuck with the Xbox i think, i am looking forward to the new controller with the new impulse trigger rumble, and Titan Fall looks awesome. :) |

There is an interesting technical post over at Neowin about the X1 architecture, which seems to point to it being far better than people had thought. The forum posts mean nothing to me but it is a good read, if it is accurate.

Re: The Xbox One Thread
For the people that are getting games on disk you aware that smart match won't be too great as you will have to ether wait or change the disk when it's matched a game
|
Re: The Xbox One Thread
I don't know what smart match is, i won't be buying digital if those digital games cost £50-60 pounds, but if i can get them for £38 the same as an import disk then i would go digital. :)
Why would you need to change the disk when those disks are blu ray, so surely they will mostly be 1 disk games? :) |
