S4C will not be closing. The BBC is taking it over, or rather the license payer is. However a lot of the programming on S4C is already done by the BBC anyway.

They have pledged that it will continue and its hours will not decrease, but we will wait and see.

Does anyone know why VM are putting TLC in the Entertainment channels numbers and no with all the other Factual based channels. Surely it should be where Realtime channels will cease to be?

If it does then doesnt leave any blocks left for Sky Atlantic ;-) in the 100s!

I think Virgin have given Discovery the channels numbers of 167, 168 and 169 due to DMAX and Quest being at Channels numbers 170 to 173.

And also Virgin cant put TLC on channels 174, 175 and 176 due to ITV Digiital Channels broadcasting there.

Also TLC will broadcast Comedy shows every weekday from 9am and 5pm.

It is because The Learning Channel, despite its misleading title, is not a purely factual channel. Take a look at the programming!

I think they should change the name of the channel. It bears little relationship to the programming. It's hardly educational!

Rumour: Virgin Media to launch Two HD Channels before May!

From DS Forum:

Quote:

TV XL is £24.50 so £7 cheaper than Sky's equivalent and includes library content, 32 HD channels (from end of April) and 7000 on demand music videos.
http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showp...&postcount=750

I can only add up 30 HD channels being on XL Pack right now.

I think the two new ones will be TLC HD and Animal Planet HD.

I love The Golden Girls, great to see them back on UK TV. Is Honey Boo Boo on there too?
Is the "new" TLC still called The Learning Channel, as the "old" one was, or is the name just TLC ?

Now that movies & sports in HD is split on Sky, surely our £7 charge should go down to £5.25?

I know I asked this when Sky announced it but I'm still failing to see why this isn't implemented (like when Sky HD pack went from per box to per house, ours followed suit within a month).

Personally I'd expect that the fee will be part of the last carriage agreement, and likely can't be changed unless/until the agreement is renegotiated

Plus mostly what Sky have done is put half their old fee into the Entertainment Extra+ TV pack, the total cost still seems to be the same as far as I can see

MB covered that http://mediaboyblog.blogspot.co.uk/2...sports-on.html

Quote:

Info thanks to Daily Mail online:

Sky’s concern over the threat from BT Sport is also understood to be part of the reason for the delay in agreeing a carriage deal with Virgin for their cable customers to access Premier League matches next season.

Sky, who had to pay far more than expected for PL rights because of BT Sport’s entry into the market, need to recoup some of that cost by charging Virgin more for their platform contract. And they will be wary of Virgin bundling BT Sport’s PL games into subscription offerings.

So we could possibly have the scenario of a deal still not being done come the start of the new football season and that is not a good scenario if they are trying to entice new premium customers to sign on.

Put it this way Virgin, I don't care how good your broadband is, offer me anything less than the sports package I'm receiving and I'm off, still might be off if we don't get 3 & 4 sports in HD and 3d in the next carriage agreement.

Just to prove a point. IF you live in a flat and have a communal aerial ie for VM and Sky, IF you get VM and the TiVo box, you can do exactly the same.

My mother in law lives in flat with the same system and they have VM and TiVo and they do the same.

Communal systems for VM and Sky are different.

If VM is installed in a flat block, its the equivalent of a normal street except it's vertical

The blocks in Brum were recently upgraded, within the last couple of years.

They have decent terrestrial signal again, cable is in the blocks and Sky is too and Sky+ recording two channels no problem.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 2.

BenMcr, So why is it that on the inside of my m.i.l flat there is a small box on the wall with 4 sockets on the same box Bt/Sky/VM/Normal aerial socket.

On the outside of the flat there are cables going all over, but inside the flat is this box on the wall. And she can have any service she requires.

paultrademark 19-04-2013 22:41

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 2.

The cables outside the flat that supply the Virgin services will come from the Virgin cabling under the ground.
The BT ones will come from BT network under the ground
The ones that supply the Sky services will come from a communal dish on the roof.
The normal TV aerial will come from an aerial on the roof.

I'd assume they were fairly new flats to have that all installed to one outlet.

Have SKY and Virgin started discussions for a new carriage deal for the SKY Sports channels or are SKY stalling?

This is maybe unfair to ask, so if you don't feel comfortable answering then please don't. Is there a feeling or a sense within virgin that SKY might try to play dirty when it comes to negotiating a new deal for SKY Sports?

Whilst I'm currently with SKY I would never say never to returning to Virgin if the package and price are right. I don't think it would help the consumer if SKY tried to hold back channels from Virgin.

Does anybody know what is happening to the shows that are on Discovery Real Time and Home & Health if they are both closing?

Just seems odd to me to close both when they share a lot of shows, the replacement TLC does not appear to be showing any of the shows from these channels. Are they headed to Dmax? The only other Discovery branded channel where shows like Cowboy Builders, Homes Under The Hammer and Antiques Road Trip would fit IMO.

I wasn't impressed at all, in fact rather disappointed.

Will a TV channel actually work, we've had a couple in the past (well on satellite at least) and they closed down.

(First was The Computer Channel, later renamed .tv and then there was Game Network).

Future plans

It is planned to extend Information TV’s distribution to the major cable networks (Virgin Media in the UK and UPC in Ireland) in the near future. Again, viewer access will be totally free.

Has anybody seen this on the Information TV website! They do have plans to launch on Virgin Media in the future. Don't know when?! If they do launch, will anybody be watching them!

You really don't bother with facts at all do you? It's happening again tick tock tick tock. Define liquidation? Oh and why are you not allowed to play in Europe, not that you'll ever achieve it. A new yes new club must have 3 years of accounts, your club has none. Yer a footballing non event now bye bye

Ok explain to me this, a company doesn't win titles a club does! Fact one, the club was bought before the old company that owned it went into the liquidation process, as the judge says also, the club is a separate entity from the business that owns it and can be bought/sold to another company, also explain why all the governing bodies, ECA, FIFA, UEFA, SPL, SFL, SFA all recognise that Rangers are the same club that started in 1872, and i quote from lord Nimmo Smith to your rep' a Mr McKenzie this...........In common speech a Club is treated as a recognisable entity which is capable of being owned and operated, and which continues in existence despite its transfer to another owner and operator. In legal terms, it appears to us to be no different from any other undertaking which is capable of being carried on, bought and sold. This is not to say that a Club has legal personality, separate from and additional to the legal personality of its owner and operator. We are satisfied that it does not, and Mr McKenzie did not seek to argue otherwise.
It's pretty easy to understand, well, only if you are capable of accepting facts that is! your comment about the club must have 3 years of accounts is nonsense! It's the business running the club that needs 3 year's accounts and that business is not the same thing as the club, yes, we must have 3 years Accounts for the company, the club is still the same club. Even your top shareholder Mr Dermot Desmond has said we are the same club, so get your facts right!
