I have heard Celtic fans boo during the minute silence on Remembrance Sunday, so I find those fans **** of the earth. They are booing people who fought so they could live in a free world where they can express the views they want to. But booing during the silence is not on.

As Celtic have not condemned the fans, I have nothing good to say about Celtic anymore, and hope to God that a team can put up a better challenge next season against Celtic to stop them winning by a large margin again.

This is why Celtic will never be allowed into the EPL, they take trouble wherever they go, and if you go on YouTube, and put them in, they cause more trouble than anything.

I read the comment said about what happened at Brentford, and yet Brentford will not say anything. To them it was about making money, and yet again Celtic fans tarnish the famous name of a great club.

Not only that, apparently on STV, someone has broken into the yard that holds the Rangers FC team bus and cmmitted Arson.

There are people that go to away games just to cause trouble and don't nessessarily have any links to the club. So trying to say Celtic take trouble everywhere is a bit of a weak statement. Look at Ranger when they trashed Manchester. Celtic are very well respected and 99% of fans are good people.

Celtic fans are in no way worse than anything as you put it.

Also the bus depot was set on fire but trying to say it was Celtic fans is too far fetched. More likely the firms insurance scam lol.

Yassss! First game back at Celtic Park tonight :D Can't wait. Season ticket sales up on last year, free wi fi (though it won't be ready for a couple of weeks) Kerrydale bar open to season ticket holders before the game, may pop in for something to eat with my daughter. Elfsborg in next round next Wednesday. Here we go again!!!

Maybe worth pointing out with Stephen's post above (sorry Arthur got you on ignore so can't see your and a couple of others bile that u post) that Celtic fans are the only fans to be awarded the UEFA fair play award for the Seville year. I agree. Most clubs have one or two idiots. Only solution is to keep banning, though it seems at times that there will always be someone to take there place.

I know truth isn't high on your list of priorities but I should point out the first recipients of the award were Dundee Utd fans, and that was without a begging campaign to get it awarded. Plus a previous winner was that jolly craicster Paulo Di Canio before his fascist tendencies came to light, previous good, if not entirely truthfully reported behaviour, can change very easily.

OK, I just heard that the new structure was going to put Rangers into the league right below the Premier League. Good that they are not being fast tracked, they deserve at least 2 more seasons out of the top flight.

When does this new structure come into effect? I've heard so many different things about this structure that I am totally confused.

Celtic have accepted a bid from Queens Park Rangers for striker Gary Hooper.
The Championship club submitted an offer of around £5m for the 25-year-old last week.
Hooper, who was used as a substitute in Tuesday's Champions League qualifying win against Cliftonville, scored 31 goals last season.
Talks are ongoing between the player's representatives and QPR over personal terms, while Norwich remain keen on the former Scunthorpe forward.

Hi Stephen,

Lets put it this way, I am married to a family of Celtic fans, and l can tell you that you must support another 'Celtic'

I have a deep respect for Celtic since the days of Jimmy Johnstone, but Celtic and Rangers have a bad reputation for trouble no matter where they go.

I have been to an old firm game and was told by my wifes family, don't speak during or after the game as Celtic fans don't like Londoners, also l have been to a few Celtic games in London namely The London Cup at Wembley, and Arsenal testimonial game and there were parts of your fans singing anti british songs, IRA chants etc this is sick.

They were down here at Brentford last week and your so called fans ran riot.

You watch on Youtube, where your fans were singing nasty songs during remembrance Sunday preparations, and Celtics director bend their heads in shame at what happens. I suggest you watch it along with the Rangers fans as well.

The biggest problem in Scottish football is that the problems from both clubs won't go away until the clubs directors say enough is enough. And ban the culprits of the trouble.

Don't get me wrong, but l have respect for Celtic, but what sent a chill down my spine was The London Cup, where Celtic fans were banned from pubs near the ground and inside they were singing songs against the British.

Bees chief sorry for Celtic 'bad behaviour'
Jul 24 2013 By Chris Longhurst
http://images.icnetwork.co.uk/upl/ho...-424390643.jpgMark Devlin

BRENTFORD FC's chief executive has pledged to take action against hooligans who spoiled last weekend's friendly between Bees and Celtic.
Mark Devlin apologised to residents for the disruption before and after the game, and said he was saddened that the prospect of Brentford taking on Scotland’s league champions had turned sour.
The Chronicle reported how drunken Celtic fans repeatedly set off smoke bombs and invaded the pitch during the match on Saturday (20) which the Hoops won 2-1.
People living nearby also complained about noise, vandalism, and masses of litter left by the 6,000 travelling supporters who came to Griffin Park for the first time in 50 years.

Mr Devlin said: "Saturday’s match was a very good test for the First Team squad and one that will, I’m sure, stand them in good stead for the upcoming season. The Manager was very positive about the standard of opposition and a number of our players have said publically that the atmosphere was fantastic.
"Usually pre-season friendlies at Griffin Park are played in a relatively quiet stadium in front of a couple of thousand fans. This was nothing like that. The noise generated by the Celtic supporters was unlike any I have seen at a pre-season game. It was very disappointing, therefore, that the afternoon ended with a pitch invasion despite a very high police presence inside the ground.
“Fortunately, no damage was caused to the pitch or goalposts during the invasion. CCTV pictures were taken, and will be passed to the authorities and individuals who have invaded the pitch are being identified. Supporters were searched on entry and anyone found with flares or smoke bombs was denied entry.
"The use of flares and smoke bombs at football matches in England is dangerous and of growing concern to the football authorities. It was abundantly clear that some did get through and this will be discussed at the usual post-match briefing. We have been made aware of reports of several acts of anti-social behaviour caused by some Celtic fans arriving very early, having consumed a fair amount of alcohol.
“We would like to apologise to any local residents who may have suffered as a result of this behaviour. We were of the understanding that there would have been a police presence in the area of Griffin Park from early on Saturday morning, especially as some pubs were open earlier than normal.
“As always, the Club will reflect on the match with our safety group, which includes representatives of Hounslow Council and the Metropolitan Police. This will take place soon.”

SCOTLAND'S top-flight football clubs have been given a cash boost by an increase in season ticket sales.

Figures were also up last season –

With a week to go before the SPL kicks off, Aberdeen, Celtic, Hearts, Hibs and Partick Thistle all report increases on last year.

Inverness CT, Ross County, St Johnstone and St Mirren said levels were much the same as last season.

But the Paisley side expect to surge past last year’s figure as they will wait almost three weeks until their first home league game.

Only Dundee United reported a decrease – although sales were at a record level last season with Dundee derbies played in the SPL for the first time in seven years.

Neil Patey, from accountants Ernst and Young, said the bounce could be due to league restructuring – or a feelgood factor returning to the economy.

He said: “Any increases are a positive message for Scottish football.

“For Hearts, there has been an appeal to fans to buy season tickets and Partick got a boost from promotion. But for all the other clubs, the football situation is pretty much the same as the season before.

“Given all that has gone on in Scottish football, there could have been a concern that season ticket sales could have fallen.

“That doesn’t appear to be the case – despite negative predictions when Rangers went down to the Third Division.

“Maybe it’s a sign league reconstruction is being viewed positively and the economy generally is better now.”

Champions Celtic said sales were up on last season’s campaign.

They sold more than 42,500 standard season tickets for 2011/12, according to their annual report. These are the most recent figures available for the club.

Sales at Hearts were up by more than 1000 on the same time last year.

Looks like Celtic have about 46k season ticket holders this season. Seems all the negativity was factually incorrect :D Who'da thought it

Boerrigter is Monday already undergo a medical examination in Glasgow. Saturday missed the left outside for the Johan Cruijff Shield yet because of an ankle injury. From the stand he saw Ajax at the Amsterdam Arena after extra beat AZ.

Another shining example of honesty, integrity and fairness at the heart of Scottish football.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23536242

Rangers go into administration after not paying tax = Big fine, year long ban on signing players over 18. (Which was found to be illegal but Rangers were blackmailed into accepting)
Hearts go into administration after not paying tax = No fine, 6 month ban on signing players over 21.

We will see the difference in treatment when Hearts inevitably go into liquidation mid-season. Guaranteed they will be kept in the top league to avoid problems with fixtures rather than automatic demotion, assuming of course they actually have somewhere to play.

Rubbish. Rangers legally used tax avoidance schemes (as did Celtic, in fact they still do). Were sold to a criminal who refused to pay tax and went into administration. Hearts have failed on numerous occasions to pay taxes and players and went into administration.

Regardless of the reasons the disciplinary panel were acting on the clubs going into administration. Rangers got a fine and long registration ban. Hearts and Dunfermline got no fine and shorter, less restrictive bans.

Fair?

MalteseFalcon 02-08-2013 11:38

Re: The Scottish Football Thread

This is not fair, in fact Rangers must be very cross over it. Hearts get away with it in effect. Some teams have gone bust in the middle of the season. Depends when it happens, if around March time Hearts will be assisted to the end of the season to fulfill all fixtures. November time won't affect table much, so they would probably get no help.

You seem to ignore all the things Rangers did. I suspect it would be hard for any club to do as many wrongs as Rangers, fairly unique, they had to write war and peace just to list the wrong doings.

Try as you might, you can't re-write history.

That's my real point. A manager of a full team time being knocked out of a competition shouldn't be making excuses.... yet something that appeared in the newspaper and the wind!!! are cited by the pie muncher.

I'd have thought that they'd have changed ends at half time ;)

What can be the reason for that?

Sold out? Nope they've sold about 5000 less than last year.

Safety certificate problem? There have been rumours for a while about the condition of the asbestosdome.
Stock exchange announcement on Monday? Would that cause them to suspend ticket sales?
Admin 2? If they're still losing £1M a month then that may happen, but I wouldn't have thought yet...

Rangers must be spinning in their grave.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BH6yFJoCAAE4Gge.jpg

Another sad attempt to predict Rangers demise based on a twitter comment by a mhank. Season ticket sales are at roughly the same level than last year without Rangers having to bribe people to renew, plus Rangers haven't had to close sections of their stand to avoid embarrassing empty spaces or the jolly craigsters of the Groin brigade.

Rangers have issues right now but we aren't going anywhere. Still the most successful club in Scotland.

Yeah but when they aren't breaking the seats (in their own stadium  ) they aren't sitting in them. The closure of vomitory 111 has been a long time coming, if it wasn't for their 'friends' at the SFA the club would have been taken to task for their antics a long time ago.

I think Celtic have enough to get through tomorrows tie.

Here are highlights for Elfsborgs 2-1 defeat against AIK at the weekend:

They are so bad at defending corners and free-kicks into the box.

rangers ask for a fine...then question why they got a fine. You could not make it up :D

"Rangers' lawyer, in contrast, specifically asked for the club to be fined in respect of Charge 3, or Rule 14(g). He did not lead evidence of Rangers' financial position or ability to pay any fine.

"Rangers did not appeal the fine."

Careful Colin. You'll be accused of being an obsessive Celtic fan for showing an interest in the longest running story of corruption and cheating in Footballing history..... by those who keep repeating they're the most successful team in the world. Poor lambs. Their club is only a year old too.

In other news the lowest of the low were even involved in diverting money away from legitimate charities.

I cant see the Well winning tomorrow.

As long as we stay in the Top 10 of the SPL every year that me happy.

I do not want to see them going down the road of being like Hearts, Dunfermline or Rangers again.

Celtic can't play the Gooners is my reading. Celtic can play:

FK Austria Wien (AUT)
Legia Warszawa (POL)
NK Maribor (SVN)
PFC Ludogorets Razgrad (BUL)
FC Shakhter Karagandy (KAZ)

While the Arse can play:

PSV Eindhoven (NED)
FC Metalist Kharkiv (UKR)
Fenerbahçe SK (TUR)
Real Sociedad de Fútbol (ESP)
FC Paços de Ferreira (POR)

Woah tiger, always wrong to dismiss a side as a walkover, the evidence of the other night should teach us that. We should get through though :) Pretty excited about the whole thing tbh. Couple of the new signings to come in and another couple on the horizon. Looking good for us.

Starting XI : Mignolet, Johnson, Toure, Wisdom, Enrique, Lucas, Gerrard, Allen, Downing, Aspas, Coutinho.

Subs : Jones, Alberto, Assaidi, Henderson, Sturridge, Coates, Borini, Sterling, Kelly, Flanagan, Ibe.

Sturridge came on at half time.

Agree Henke. It's great having any top sides visiting Paradise but we've had the same sides a few times, e.g. Benfica and Barca, so it would be nice to have a bit of different glamour.

If we can create that atmosphere for Shaktar Karagandy, what would it be like for Real!!
