Struggling with sales woman though as she seems completely unaware of the emails going out. Even with the code she tried to sell to me at £199 plus £40 installation.

On hold now whilst she "looks into it"

Got the email too even though I have decided TiVo isnt worth £149 to me ...

but out of interest wasnt this email supposed to include an online order option ... all i see is a customer services phone no. to order by ?

good luck to all those desperate enough to order now ... sadly £149 is overpriced in my book for an unfinished and nothing special pvr but thats just my humble opinion

some accounts have more "complicated" billing so require a call to Sales on the direct number.

You should have a unique ordering code too.

Is that what you got? If so there may not be an order code?

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

Email re Tivo for info:

Virgin Media TV powered by TiVo is here.

But before the TiVo boxes officially go on sale, you'll remember we promised you an exclusive chance to get one. And here it is.

Virgin Media customers go to the front of the queue.

With enough storage space for around 500 hours of standard TV, or around 100 hours of HD TV, demand is expected to be high when our 1TB TiVo box officially goes on sale. So to ensure you're first in line, make sure you call us and buy yours now.

An exclusive price for Virgin Media customers and an extra special offer.

We don't take entertainment lightly. That's why we're offering our VIP customers, with our up to 50Mb or up to 100Mb broadband, the opportunity to upgrade to TiVo for no additional monthly fee. It's normally £3.

Order our 1TB TiVo box now and it'll only cost £149.95 to activate your box. That's an exclusive customer-only price (to everyone else, it 's £199.95). And, because you were one of the first to pre-register, we won't charge you an installation fee either. So that's an extra £40 you can keep in your pocket.

I received my email this morning and after spending nearly 40 minutes on the phone (mostly on hold listening to that mind-numbing music) fixed my TiVo installation for Thursday morning. As a VIP 50 customer I paid £149.95 - which will go on my monthly bill - with free installation and no monthly sub. I get to keep my SA V+ box for the bedroom and will surrender my bog-standard Samsung V box. Very happy. Roll on Thursday!

I agree, but this kind of thing doesn't help:

Quote:

Just ring the switchboard number 01256 752000 and ask for sales.

Then press option 2 for existing customers then you get through. I had no reg code but they are taking orders now for existing customers they check your account to see what price (eg £3 etc)

Mines coming on 30th April as I have cancelled Sky and that doesnt run out till first week of May so dont want to be paying twice for it.

Some inconsistency here. I assume that the order system will not allow an order to be taken from someone without a unique code, even if the agent does not ask for it?

Apologys for previous saying the 500GB TiVo wasnt mentioned .. it is but states its exclusive to existing customers and available from 16th May for £49.99 and dosent say anything about install charges

Sales should be asking for that code, I believe.

IMO the smaller box isn't worth it, you're only paying £25 more for 1TB box if registering now

£49.95+£40+£36 (non-vip £3 per mth 12mth contract) = £125.95

No email here, not hopeful of getting one either after missing out on the "Dear Dean" email despite pre-regging on the first day.

Are some VM sales taking orders without the reg code?

I am pre registered so they said its fine if I havent got the email cos they checked the system and I was pre registered.

They didnt ask for the code either because the system showed them I was already down for it.

Not to worry ... im still not going for TiVo .... dosent offer me anything im drooling for and especially not for £149 for a pvr

I did however notice .... and this is probably just bad wording .. but the email says .... call us on BLAH BLAH BLAH and BUY yours now .... so do customers actually buy it :p:

good luck to those getting theirs now ... I will wait for whenever they swap the V+ boxes out for free in some distant future

Worthwhile to inform internally that there are reports of orders being taken without codes then, sio any incorrect orders are stopped since only pre-reg customers should be ringing right now?

I am still waiting the email and my code and would not be happy if other people have been able to ring up and order a Tivo and jump ahead of me.

Would accept if anybody could ring up but their install dates are delayed until the pre-reg customers had booked theirs but cannot see how that can be arranged without knowing the number of pre-reg customers who will order and so should take the first delivery dates.

Over on www.vmhd.blogspot.com some are saying that they have managed to order a TIVO but they are awaiting a call back ( in 24 hours ) to confirm the install date?

Your still paying the £3p/m on the 1TB drive, so if the smaller box is £49.95 + £40 installation your actually saving £60 on today's prices, or £100 when the free install ends.

And £60 isn't a small amount of money - much easier to find £90 than £150

I think I've just about survived my call to order TiVo. After the 35 minute phone call from hell, I'm expecting my 1tb box installed on the 19th. :D

Will wait and see if this happens though because the lady on the phone seemed clueless. :(

THE SMALL PRINT - at end of email

It really is UNACCEPTABLE that the frontline staff cannot take a simple order.

I agree with perfect choice.

But do we do as richardc1983 did? If people are bypassing the arranged system but we're sat here following the rules, we're the ones that loose out with potentially far off install dates.

Surely, VM have set out a procedure and they should enforce it?

I'm going for the smaller one next month. I don't ever hardly record anything so the smaller HD box is ample.

I agree too. There has to be a process to avoid non-pre-registered customers getting to order early.

What has happened to the order online option that was promised?

Not if you're a VIP, as the £3 gets waived as I understood it.

DF, I assume that a cool off period applies to this installation and 12 month contract? i.e. if you have have second thoughts after it is installed that you can cancel and go back to V+?

I would also assume that you pay the £40 in that circumstance?

I ask because unfortunately I'm waiting for a long running customer complaint to be resolved and may back out and jump ship to Sky or Freesat. But if the issue does get resolved, I don't want to have missed out on the TiVo offer.
