He made a comment about the minimum salary and I said that its a jobs, and he was impressed as some people with my skills would turn it down.

While on the phone, he said that the company has a supervisor role going so you never know, the only thing against me is that I've not been in a paid supervisor role.

My fingers are crossed for you Hom3r.

Any employment will add to your CV and once you have proved your determination to work other employers would be downright silly not to pick up on a person willing to work outside their comfort zone.

Past salaries and qualifications can't pay future bills.

First time I've had a 'Happy Thought' in ages.

Handed in my notice today, start my new job in September.

New job, new home, new town, new part of the country, new life - totally new life.

Currently drinking red wine, and celebrating the fact that (with a bit of luck) I'll finally be moving on and leaving the pain of the last 12 months well behind me.

NHS nurses are my happy thought. In the last year Ive had...

tilt table test
echo-cardiogram
x-rays
MRI scan
so many blood tests Ive lost count
24hr ecg's/blood pressure
a weeks stay in hospital

and the only positive thing for me has been the nurses. Yes theres the uniforms which does help but in all my visits Ive always been impressed with the nurses. Even the nowty one who didnt like me vanishing from the ward for a fag. Always have a laugh with them, shame the doctors are too up their own arses to actually listen to what you have to say. Why do they ask you a question but then but in with their version of the answer?!

Big up to the nurses out there :cleader: especially Andrea at Preston Hospitals MRI unit :D After the year I've had I can understand people complaining about how nurses are paid/treated

In contrast to my post in the 'other' thread..the car is OK.:D

Seems it was my OH's fault because he moved our car forward three feet yesterday and didn't let the fuel injected engine run for long enough and the result was it was flooded this morning. All it needed was a hard foot on the accelerator to sort the issue out.

Had a chat with the chap about stupid mistakes and learned that the RAC vans are now set up to drain fuel from car tanks that have been contaminated by the wrong fuel.Apparently he has been getting 3-4 such situations a week.

He also showed me a special cap invented by one of their roadmen and financed and sold by the RAC which fits over a diesel cap and prevents petrol being put into the fuel tank by mistake.

A couple of happy thoughts.....

My new work laptop arrived today - Tosh R700 i5 portable - Shiny!!!!!

And a big up to dohertwhy for pointing out about the triple XL package - I rang retentions about this (I currently have XL TV and Phone, and L BB, V+ and additional V box); they have upped me to the Triple XL with current V+ and additional V box, for £7.50 less than I am paying now (and they are sending me out a new free modem as my current one isn't optimal for 20Mb).

I am in a new 12 month contract, but I don't care - result!

:D

I will have to faff around with my set up (at the moment, I have the modem into a wireless router for downstair, which then is linked by cat5 cable to a wireless router for upstairs - we have one hardwired PC in the office upstairs, two PCs upstairs linked by wireless, and two laptops downstairs linked by wireless; and an iPhone, iTouch, two Blackberrys, Wii, and BluRay player all networked).

I am sure it will be worth it. :)

Had a parcel from VM today, with a two little boxes and a nice leaflet telling me how to disconnect my old modem and connect the hub (leaflet MS0710); strangely enough, the boxes contained a 256v2 modem and a power supply, but no hub....

Just finished setting them up with my two routers, and went through the activation steps (one of which made me download the hub software), so back online in less than 20 minutes.

As my main PC is upstairs, and the modem is downstairs, the nice CSR asked if I wanted transferred to Tech Support to set up (which I thought was a nice thought); I said "no thanks", as I work in IT.

Good service, VM (except for the mis-match between the leaflet and the hardware, but not too bothered about that)>

Agreed - not sure what value the hub would add, as I have two routers of my own (I know it is 'n', but to get the benefit, I would have to buy 4 x 'n' bits of kit for the PCs and laptops).

The agency called today, still no news on the CTC, but he then said was I intrested in another job similar role, but working for HR, pays £2 ph more than the other job.

The only thing is I have to do a 2 day trial this Thursday & Friday with 4 other people. Out of these 1 will be selected to work until the end of October with the team doing the job, if it's not me I will have the other job, which also ends in October to fall back on to.

So tomorrow I will sign off, and NOT attend there stupid JSA 6 month review job search.

I only hope I can get rid of this dam cold.

Great news and well done. I shall keep my fingers crossed for you, but let me know when to cross them or I shall end up with cramp if I have to keep them crossed all week. :D

It's been a fairly carp week this week, all things considered, but the sunshine has come out today, as my daughter (from my first marriage) has just passed her driving test, and my son (from my current marriage) has got a place to study History at University.

My carp week commiserates with your carp week. :(

Good news about your son and daughter though. I take it your son got the results he was hoping for?

Unfortunately not - he didn't listen to his mum and dad's advice re studying more and drinking and playing rugby less during A level year (so unusual for an 18 year old, I know..;)); he had to go through clearing, and was one of the lucky ones who found a place.

Something which may make him realise that he will have pay more attention to his course work whilst at Uni. Going through the clearing process can be a wake-up call to some students. I know a friend of my son's did it, after what for him were disastrous results due to his partying, and he went on to get a 1st.

It's matured (eXtra Old).

I've not had any yet but when I get it I'll let you know :)

I think this quote from the marmite site sums it up for me ;)

"..[it's] as though the Marmite has come out of the jar and given me a swift kick to the head!"

As long as I get to keep my marmite :)

As an aside, my favourite sandwich used to be...

Marmite, Danish Blue and red onion :) - It was not surprising how few people sat next to me at lunch :)

The last few posts have got me thinking of Twiglets. :)

I've not had any for ages and just Googled to see if they are still being produced. Did you know they now also come in Curry flavour and a couple of other flavours like Worcester Sauce and Tangy? I have got to track some of them down and have a taste to see if they are as good as the Original Marmite coating.
