Re: Operation Yewtree
Yes, there are innocent victims on both sides. To imagine that the families of the guilty aren't also suffering through no fault of their own is nonsense.

Re: Operation Yewtree
See every aspect of public life is being investigated now. Would be devastated if the Chuckle Brothers are implicated in any way. Must stress that I am not making any insinuation, but they are the last good thing of my childhood. Would be horrible for that to be ruined as well.

No idea, it does seem very unfair at this early stage.

Re: Operation Yewtree
Wow. I must admit that when this whole operation began, there were loads of people on Twitter saying Cliff would be quizzed. Until today, I paid no attention to those rumours. I hope he isn't arrested or charged, but seems weird that they would search his property at all if he wasn't around. I'm just in shock.
I pray that the Chuckle brothers aren't dragged into this now, that would be my whole childhood ruined for me then. |
Re: Operation Yewtree
Apparently, according to LBC News, this matter isn't being investigated as part of Operation Yewtree.

Re: Operation Yewtree
There is a statement from Cliff here, looks like its South Yorkshire police who instigated this, rather than Operation Yewtree. Still seems odd that they would release a statement like this as mud tends to stick wether found guilty or not.
Saying that we all know that South Yorks police have a way of doing things different. http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2...l-abuse-claims |
Re: Operation Yewtree
Since when has it been within the law for the police to gain entry to a probety without the owners consent, as far as I know they have to give the owner a search warrent or arrest him to search the house.
|
Re: Operation Yewtree
I do get a sense that these house searches are just a fishing expedition. If an allegation has been made that photos were taken and might still be there, that is one thing, but to search on the off chance there is evidence of other wrongdoing is quite another.

Re: Operation Yewtree
Im sure one of them has been handsomely rewarded for tipping off the press.

Gwent police did this to my property last year, the IPCC were not particularly interested about it. They refused to pay for the damage because 'They had good reason to believe that I was running a large scale drugs operation' although the warrant was obtained under questionable means. The senior officer involved was very sheepish and apologetic about it as they were made to look like a bunch of incompetent idiots. He actually tried his best to get the damage paid for, all I asked for was the cost of the replacement door and frame I was not even concerned about the fitting costs. For me it wasn't the fact that they were incompetent, it was the arrogance of their legal department who didn't want to admit their incompetence. The general opinion from others who have experienced the same is it appears to be that Gwent police seem to have somewhat of a reputation for it, and they will not admit any liability. The information leading to them searching my house came from an incompetent PCSO. They would not admit it, but he disappeared from this beat immediately when I pointed the finger and rushes off like a scalded cat when he sees me. It's quite funny to see him look uncomfortable and run off in the opposite direction, his day will come. What they have now is a member of the public who would never help them, and would certainly not go to the assistance of an officer in distress. So the reality is., that they will do as they please when it comes to obtaining a warrant, forcing entry and searching your home. |
Re: Operation Yewtree
I hope that this is just someone trying to get money out of McCartney or some twisted type of fame. It's disheartening seeing so many icons of our recent history turning out to be evil paedos.
