Despite this investment, and against an economic climate where households are having to review their spending on non essential services, Virgin have grown their business thanks in no small part to TiVo, and have posted their first profit, all of which is positive news for the future. If you chose Virgin over Sky to provide your services, then the simple fact is that they're doing it better and more efficiently than when you first asked them to do so, and are in a stronger position to continue that progression than ever before.

You see, I don't keep track of these things like some people :) So that's quite a bit more than "nothing" then :D

Not read this for ages and going through 68 pages will take too long so sorry if already asked

Are there any rumours about getting SS3 and 4 and News in HD anytime soon? Not fussed if it isn't for a few months/years, just be nice to know SKY will let Virgin have all the Sports channels in HD as well.

Err No!

And besides, like Carl says, how much TV can anyone actually watch!?

Whilst I agree with your comment Andy, I think some of the growth experienced is due, in part, to the economic climate. How much does it cost a family of four to go to the cinema to see the latest blockbuster? Once you've bought drinks and snacks it's probably the best part of a months subscription for VM or Sky, so if money is tight then you look for the 'best' return available for the money you have.

Cheers

Grim

I find it hard to complain about the lack of new channels when we are going to get 48 Olympic goodies next month.

I guess the question is what can Virgin do with this extra capacity post Olympics. Any new Sky channels or Prem Sports or even ITV HD 2-4 will still be difficult so what channels are out there that are both reasonably priced (or free) and worth having?

That new Sony Movie Channel.

CBS Drama/Action, whichever is the one we don't have currently. (I can never remember which!)

Those are my main two.

Sky Atlantic would be good but I don't see it happening anytime soon.

I would really like Virgin to push on and try and secure as many non-SKY HD channels as possible. I would also like the opportunity to subscribe to Premier Sports. Other than this there really isn't too much that Virgin could add that would make me go WOW! There really isn't too much out there, that Virgin don't already offer, that would significantly improve my viewing pleasure.

Even the "jewel in the crown" SKY Atlantic isn't a massive loss for me. Anything that has taken my fancy from SKY Atlantic, I've managed to find it from elsewhere often before the episodes have even aired in this country. If the channel was to come to Virgin I'd happily pay for it as part of my subscription. As it stands the channel is being withheld from me through no fault of my own. I'm locked in contract with Virgin and can't join SKY. I could wait until SKY Atlantic programmes are released on DVD, over a year after their original TV airing, however I refuse to pay £40.00 for a DVD box-set of a programme I've never seen or might not like.
