Its not a question of get rid of Mancini, its City were beaten by the better team. And as for the biting incident, l have seen worse thibngs tna that in the PL.

Just think some of the players today would not last five minutes in the days of Vinnie Jones.

My prediction United, Arsenal, City and then Spurs. Chelsea wont have a sniff.

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

What Suarez did was utterly disgraceful and l hope the punishment fits the crime but as for getting rid of him well did Man Utd get rid of Cantona or Keane or did Man City get rid of Tevez and the answer to that is no but yes he is totally in the last chance saloon now for many Liverpool supporters.

Roy Keane and Eric Cantona were no angel's by all means but to Bite two different players, racially abuse a player, continuously dive and use his hands in a game of football is nothing short of amazing for one person is it not?

I bet Ameobi would do the same if he actually played. He's a loose cannon wor' Shola.

Well Defoe got away with a yellow for biting another player, still it was Mascherano[sp] so I think a yellow was sufficient punishment.;)

did Suarez get a yellow though? and was the yellow given during or after the day?

I think he got a yellow for the handball earlier.

so he wasn't deserving of another yellow which would have seen him see red?

He should have a fitting punishment as there are no excuses and he is in the last chance saloon now for many Liverpool supporters.

It's pretty simple if Suarez was a very average player he would have been hunted long ago. As it is he's an excellent player so despite his long list of vile acts and behaviour it will be tolerated by the club, sad :(

I'm not so sure Brendan Rodgers is willing to bow down to him like Kenny did, time will tell though.

Not really talking getting rid of him I meant it more as a Rodgers wouldn't openly come out in the press and defend the player with all his might (Kenny incident)

I think he'll be out for the season due to the FA, might miss a few at the start of next as well as receive disciplinary action from Liverpool and that would be that.
Unfortunately like seen with Tevez and Man City, players just do whatever they fancy when they come under criticism and punishment. I'm sure Liverpool will take in all the possibilities before deciding.

On one hand Liverpool need to stamp their authority and show their player he can't just go get banned when he feels like it. On the other he may kick up a fuss if disciplined.

Reported in the paper today that he started his vile tricks at a very early age, he was apparently sent off at the age of 15 for breaking a refs nose by headbutting him.:rolleyes:

Seen on Twitter today, Suarez was fined for yesterday by Liverpool and he asked for the money to be given to Hillsborough charity. Like that will appease anyone. Pillock. Sell him, and let him take Wenger, Bale and Rooney with him.

denphone 22-04-2013 13:37

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

Yes he has been fined but it looks like Liverpool are going to send him for counselling plus whatever the punishment the FA deems suitable to give to him.

someone at Arsenal needs to be held responsible. The Arsenal lads will have to stand in honour on Sunday while Peter Hill-Wood, Stan Kroenke, Ivan Gazidis, Mark Gonnella etc. all stand scratching their heads. useless incompetence. Arsenal need Usmanov to takeover and Dein to be reinstalled. thats the only way things will change for the better at Arsenal.

congrats RVP. I've always been angry at the board for allowing this decline, farce. disgusting. daylight robbery + abusive. incredible.

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

It's simple at Arsenal. If Arsenal spent what they theoretically could spend, around £50-£70 million, it still doesn't compete with Chelsea or Manchester City. It does compete with United's spending but they've got a better team and hence have less to do. The board are looking at that and thinking that they could spend £70 million to try and go higher but they may well end up third/forth again or they can spend as little as possible and finish third and forth again.

As far as the board are concerned the safe option is to qualification for Champions League football and not spend trying to win the league. It sucks but that's what Arsenal's ambitions are now.

Wasted is subjective. It's a favorite term for people who want to promise more whilst taking less, politicians who say they can cut taxes and improve services by tackling 'waste'. It's the same with football. Yes Arsenal have wasted money, but other clubs have as well. Even United blew far too much on renewing Rooney's contract, the Young deal never really paid off, Bebe was a unmitigated diaster and Hernandez would be complained about if United didn't have Van Persie to score a bucket load of goals.

Waste is a natural occurrence in football. We can argue about the scale of waste and which player costs too much, is paid too much, and so on. We are addressing the contract situation and a lot of players' contracts expire at the end of this season. So that's a good thing.

However I don't think the difference between struggling for forth and fighting for the title is 'waste'.

nice way of defending incompetence. Utd are 3rd highest wage spenders in the league and they have just won the league. nabbing our gem RVP. if you dont add quality, quality will leave. if you dont sign quality and trust too much in flops your squad will be less motivated. how many rotten apples at Arsenal and how many are there at Utd? its a business. busiensses strives towards efficiencies. if your not up to scratch then your sacked, its simple. to top it we're sold self subtainzzzz etc. etc. its all bullcrap. you cant defend it. the problems are deep adn there not addressed because its the officials whom are at fault.

It's not a nice way to defend incompetence. It's just a calm view of the facts. You can talk about rotten apples, flops, quality but it's all just clichéd remarks. The squad isn't good enough to challenge for the title, the investment to do so isn't coming anytime soon. That's it. You can bemoan 'bullcrap' as much as you like, and you have, but the cold bitter truth that I suggest you accept is that Arsenal will not challenge for the title next year, or the year after or the year after that unless we spend a lot on the squad.

I wish it were different, you wish it were different. It isn't. We shouldn't have built the stadium. The board were wrong about where the future of football was. It's been downhill ever since. We're all just waiting for the day when it changes direction again. :(

calm? no. your last bit is going well off. the squad isnt good enough but then you have to look deeper. the wag bill is screwed so that holds us back. the Mata cock up. Mata should be in the squad with Fab and Nasri not waiting for exits. its incredible how many times its been said, it was add a player or two now its half a squad. anyway we can compete. there funds are there. its people with no bottle who settle for the safety first option. funny how the safety first option is beign shown up to being dangerous.

the stadium build aside. all that aside its done move on but its the stadium that is holding us back right. its not debt lol its sill ypolitics. the late Fiszman vs Dein then grandad Hill-Wood. Whos actually won out of it all? no one. not one person has come out on top. everything is coming back round to meet at 1 point. and thats where everyone is.. nowhere.

the sponsorship renewals suck. devalue the stadium, the very thing most of this mess is about. all for what? an extra few million but when the next round comes up it'll be the same unless the Prem drops in value, the revenue drops big time which i cant see happening.

like it or not Arsenal is run by a bunch of incompetent crooks. and to think people speak of Usmanov being anti christ or whatever. get a grip. Arsenal fans are being mugged in the daylight. being spoken to, treated like crap. PHW has linked to dark forces in Russia why isnt anything voiced about that. 'pot kettle black'

I think the main problem is that by selling VP, Arsenal kicked themself in the foot big time, and Wenger needs to be sacked.

Yes, they might be going into the CL, but they haven't won any silverware and for the board to allow that to continue is a total joke, being a Spurs fan, for Arsenal to overtake us is bad. But l am hoping that we go higher than them and shove it down there throat.

Arsenal are total rubbish and unless they buy quality players they are going no where, during the Summer l can see Walcott leaving and could join Man Utd or City.

Arsenal do not have one quality player that can send them into a cup final. Get rid of the baord and Wenger and then you may have chances.

In fairness during their team's brief flirtation with success certain Arsenal fans came out with such gems as "Man United's glory days are confined to the era of Geri Halliwell's Union Jack dress and Noel Gallagher" so it's only right we get our digs in.

Giroud is half decent. Not sure why he gets so much flack, it can only be because he isn't Van Persie.

He is better though and didn't cost anywhere near £35 million. Giroud is fine. He isn't Van Persie but he has a decent goal rate this season.

Yes true he did not cost as much as misfit Carroll but a great striker affects important games and Giroud l am afraid has gone missing in those big games.

yup. and again i stand corrected, happily :) we've just nabbed a few of their youngsters  the ones said to be on their way to Liverpool are going elsewhere. Chelsea or Arsenal although Arsenal has been mooted as the preferred choice. I doubt we'll be getting Villa and co in the summer unless they force the move

talking of this. did you say anything about Bayern possibly winning it 2 years on the trot? IF they win it this year and strengthen for next year they may just kill the standing record of no team able to win the CL 2 years in a row.

I didn't, but I wouldn't bet against it. They are already stronger next year, gaining one of the best managers in the world and one of the best young players in the world.

Well if the biter (twice) is also the self same racist ( self confessed diver, hand ball cheat, ref head butter, etc ) then possibly yes, but is it worse than missing a drugs test and getting an eight month ban?

Apparently they couldn't take the first bite into account, I think they.should appeal and get the guy some help at the same time.

He certainly needs help that is for certain, he has had problems since he was 15 so how anyone can help him is debatable.

An appeal does also run the risk of a longer ban if it is considered frivolous as well.

He could quite easily have been facing a charge of ABH or common assault if the Chelsea player had made an official complaint. He should take his punishment like a man but then real men don't bite like little children or animals.

Serious enough to warrant a 10 match ban, but not serious enough to take any action against the odious evra's infantile behaviour on Monday.

Double standards again.

Its not just him that'll suffer though, Liverpool will as well, I think five games would've been appropriate, that way he misses the chance of personal glory in the scoring charts and misses the first game of next season as an extra reminder without wrecking his and Liverpools pre season, I don't think an appeal would be frivolous.

What Suarez did was utterly deplorable but 10 games frankly that's way over the top as a 5 match ban would have been a more suitable punishment.

You are of course joking, yeah?

In an ordinary world of employment, if you go around biting other staff, you get sacked for serious gross misconduct and worse still, get arrested and charged for GBH.

10 match ban and a pocket change fine to him?

He has got off very lightly.

Its a total disgrace from the FA, they are not cracking down on racism, diving or serious foul play, but a player bites another player l dont consider that a 10 match ban.

Probably a five match. But, this is typical of the farcical way that thwe FA act. If it was Man Urd Sir Alex would be fuming at the ears. Total farce.

Which would you prefer? Being called a name, or being bitten. I prefer neither, and expect harsh punishment for both.

In this case, persistent offender getting harsher treatment..hurray

I have very little sympathy for Liverpool, I do feel sorry for Mansfield Town who got cheated out of the FA cup match by his blatant handball, I also feel sorry for Stoke who lost valuable points when he admitted diving for a pen. Time will tell just how much damage his goal against Chelski has done, it could still cost them a top four finish when he shouldn't have been on the pitch. I also have sympathy for Ghana after his cheating at the World Cup.

10 matches is just plain ridiculous.

If he had punched the player, or gone in with two feet and almost broken his leg, he would have got 3 matches, but biting is over three times worse ? They havent a clue what they are doing (as usual).
