If you are so unhappy, why don't you switch?

I would, if I was as unhappy as you appear to be.

Nothing to defend, if that's how he feels that's his prerogative, surprised he hasn't moved to sky though, I would if I felt that way

My belief is that customers of VM should be given the best quality of programme and should be in competition with Sky, but they are not.

VM always tell me that they do not have capacity for new channels - so why put +1 channels on, when the so called TiVo box can record 3 channels at a time.

In the times that l speak with VM about new channels, l am told 'we are in talks with various companies' in that case, what do the directors of VM do all day.

Sky are way out in front with channel content and HD channels, so where are VM, when the rumour spreads from members about new channels, everyone looks to Media Boy for info.

My moan at VM is that if they don't have the capacity for new channels, then why put on +1.

I think you are starting to believe Arthur :). VM have only added two +1 channels in the past year, both hugely popular. (More popular than any other channel not currently carried by VM)

Arthur's position is that he doesn't believe people want +1 channels. I accept that the are those that do, even though I'm not one of them. However, TCM 2, which is essentially TCM + about 8, and more 4+1 have launched this year alone. Which 2 were you referring to and - back to my question - could the money have been used on new content instead, or not?

Nothing to do with VM's honour - if I was as unhappy as the poster appears to be, VM would be eating my dust as I moved to a different provider; I just wondered why he wasn't.

Has anyone cracked that "View Virgin Anywhere" App yet? I got an Email from the VM help centre, but lost the plot at the bit where I had sync the I-Phone to the Tivo box?

Unfortunetly the only alternative at the moment is sky, which I ain't a big fan of.if bt get there act together this year I may consider a switch to them.
Just very unhappy by the recent price hike as stated in previous post still awaiting justification of a nearly £6 price hike

As you must have noticed, VM rarely seems to make deals for individual channels. That's why new channels don't appear at launch but are "coming soon". They reach a deal with the channel suppliers for a bouquet of channels.

The main benefit of timeshift channels to the broadcaster is slightly increased reach, so extra advertising revenue. It's just as likely that taking these channels actually means VM pay less for the deal, leaving more money available to spend on new content.

That's how it was announced on CF but not actually how VM dealt with it, there wasn't exactly a big build up and drum roll, just a mention of it having happened.

I am amazed how many channel changes actually happen.
Really? I would say they are quite sluggish at tidying up the EPG and should probably do this more often.

It's a shame they seem to wait for deals to be renewed to add channels. I wish they could just get short-term deals on new channels in the interim, and then work out package deals when they're up for renewal.

Best Direct isn't the most innovative shopping channel around and still makes it onto the VM EPG.

I totally agree, they should build more flexibility into the deals to allow new channels to be added much sooner.

Yes they are , their offering is just different to that of Sky.

Sky will always have more channels and a larger choice of HD if your not happy you can always switch surely that's got to be more productive than constantly airing your displeasure on here hasn't it. ;)

I don't know the economics. jj20x's theory may be correct.

VM used to carry a large amount of analogue channels, these took up a lot of space and did limit the capacity available on the platform. After analogue was switched off, each of these channels became available for an additional multiplex, carrying several digital channels.

The lack of capacity problem is a thing of the past. It's futile to keep bringing up a problem that no longer exists as a reason not to add time shifted channels.
