Nope, disagree. Virgin have no interest in tv content. Hence selling their channels. If virgin can get it cheap, they will buy, else they will just not play ball. ITV are in it for the business, this is additional for them, so rightly they don't want to give it away.

Virgin sold their TV content business because of the simple reason that it is impossible for anybody to compete with Sky on this front so in my mind it was a wise move to get out of the content business.

I couldnt careless why they don't have them if I'm honest. I choose Sky because it's pretty much a given that a channel will be added at launch , I'm not remotely bothered about the business or regulatory side as I'm a customer not an exec.

You're absolutely right there are bodies in place to ensure everything is kept in order its not my concern. I'm not going to get dragged into these silly arguments anymore.

I will let the regulators and market forces look after the business side, I will keep enjoying the great content.

To bring us back on topic what HD channels do you think will be added this year ?

I'm thinking possibly Film 4 HD , Alibi HD , TCM HD and wasn't More4 rumoured to be going HD at some point.

Re: General Sky TV Discussion

More4 HD would be popular in our house, film4HD not to bothered about but any new HD content is always very welcome.

Its the multiroom streaming that I'm excited about especially with rumours it could hit as early as the end of July. I don't expect it hat soon but its going to be great when it comes.

The beta EPG will gradually be rolled out and then over time there will be feature updates which I'm betting will include multiroom streaming , iPad companion app , iplayer and ITV Player.

Nope. Sky don't over pay. There is a £10.25 a month sub on Sky for HD. They are chargingtheir customers for HD so can afford to pay what ITV want.

VM don't even charge for HD so can't really see why customers complain in this regard. Its obvious VM won't get these HD channels because these channels on VM would come directly out of its bottom line profits.

Hasn't there been rumors of Sky launching a couple of new 3D channels in the near future?

I believe the rumour was a Sky Sports 3D channel launching and Sky 3D continuing.

So anytime this year is good for me.

Couldn't agree more , it's a feature that will get used frequently in our house , I'm also looking forward to the iPad companion app. :)

More hd channels such as Alibi,More4,and how about some +1 hd channels? It`s annoying when you have to record a program on +1 because of recording clashes and can only do it in sd.
