Just watching sky sports news (sky sports advert channel) and it is unbelievable how much they are playing on the fact they have FOUR dedicated HD channels, and is the only place to watch all our HD football coverage...

sky really dont like the fact everyone else is catching up, and in some respects overtaken sky in the market..

although premier league games appear to be live on hd1/hd 2... it does not change the face that previous matches such as championship were also on 1 and 2, of course now, moved to 3. dirty move be sky...

I can see a day where virgin overtakes sky....

before we even had the prospect of sky hd channels, virgin has a large customer base on hd, now all of sudden we are getting most of sky hd channels, they think customers will switch for the extra 2 channels... they didnt switch before, so what makes them think they will now.

I dont think sky have got any plays left.... oh yes i forgot... sky sports news in HD... just for hd channel amount.. nothing about quality.

we get film 4 hd... something actually worth HD, not like sky news ect...

I think you will find that Sky have always made a big deal about the channels they have and so they should if they will not advertise to their customers what is good about then then who will? Virgin media could learn a thing or two about self promotion from them.

And VM will never take over Sky when they are only available to less then 50% of the population, VM have held steady at 3.5 million customers in the last decade where as Sky have increased numbers quite a bit in that time. I really don't see why people get so wound up they are only a utility companies and you should go with who give you the best deal and choice.

Thats stranger seeing as there was a EPG shuffle around a few week ago I would have thought that Film 4HD would have gone into slot 429 next to the SD version.

Maybe we should change this thread to coming soon to virgin hd as when i ask if anybody knows about any sd or on demand coming soon everybody still talks about HD. Some of us virgin tv owners don't have HD yet !!!! not being nasty but like to know if there are any rumours for us sd viewers

8th. Film4 HD will launch on Virgin Channel 429 on the M Package.

So we now have two dates for film four HD and two channels, the 8th and the 20th and channel 429 and 432. I do enjoy the speculation.

I would like Virgin to do a multiple announcement , that is sky sports and movies HD , ESPN America HD , Film 4 HD and Five HD.

Lots of speculation around - exciting times for Virgin just as I am forced to leave them having been patiently waiting it out for more HD for past 2.75 years. Moving away from London to wilder parts of the UK where Virgin do not have a service - so back to Sky for me. Will miss the VOD element.

I hope 5HD makes it on 13th though...and for once as a SKy customer I will be waiting for an HD channel - Film 4 HD lol....

There will be some SD channels arriving in the next few weeks but most will be +1.

It's not actually speculation but what has been formally announced. In the July print edition of Virgin's Electric mag they said that Film4 HD would arrive on July 8th on channel 429. Plans have changed and now we have the trailer for the channel showing on the Channel 4 channels saying July 20th and it will be on 432. I think you can forget it appearing on July 8th unless that's a "soft launch" for testing.
