Hello jamesnoe,

At present media sharing from the Tivo box is not available. This is something that may happen in the near future.

Thanks.

I hope this does happen in the near future. It would make Tivo even better. It already works on the US Tivo

I guess this is old news so to speak, but a quick search showed nothing.

Had a call from Virgin last night. How did I like the Tivo Etc.

Only have a couple of moans - well known here.

Was told that yes Virgin had made a mistake in not adding reminders & that most of the people spoken too, listed it as the number one want.

Was told that it & full red button on BBC would be in the next up grade due between Jan & March 2012.

However he had not heard any one complain about having to reset favorites as the main option any and again ( yes I know) . Also hinted at a new style of box being looked at. More in line with the V+ LED display ( Now I would like one of them !!!:D)

I don't think it was a mistake as such, especially as TiVo has never had reminders and when working on things to add/change reminders probably weren't high on the agenda as its a legacy feature from before VM had a PVR.

The apps won't need an update to get added. Apps can be downloaded to the stb when they are released, seperate from any updates.

Well DF has said there will be a full red button/interactive service by the end of Q1 2012. So i hope that is still correct.

Does anyone else think ITV needs red button live streams for the french open tennis next year ?

Maybe a ITV Sport app on TiVo ?

Hi DT3,

From what I understand, the BBC requested that all of our BBC On Demand content was run through their iPlayer App as opposed to our On Demand service.

In what respect?

Normally you should always end up at the programme you want to watch in the iPlayer app. If you end up in the root of the iPlayer app it's because the programme listing has yet tied into the specific catch up programme i.e. it's not on purpose

Hi DF,

Here is the route,

Home> Catch Up & On Demand> Catch Up TV On Demand>All Days> yesterday

All listed BBC programes in this section, the links send you back to the TiVo homepage, the strange thing is back on the homepage it is still previewing the on demand preview show's in the top right corner:confused:

Also if you go to All channels> BBC Iplayer it will go back to the home TiVo menu, it seems that non of the links work using these routes on TiVo!

Ah, I think there is a fault ticket for that... let me try my TiVo and see if I get the same thing........ BRB

EDIT: ok no mine is ok it goes to the BBC iPlayer programme and lets me play the asset.

Yeah we raised a ticket on Sunday for that issue, only happening on some TiVo box's, but I'm not back in until tomorrow so will check the ticket. Can you confirm you can play ITV/Ch4 and 5 programmes ok?

I received a phone call the other night just to ask how i was liking the new TIVO box.
I so wanted to like this but am really not impressed with it and passed this on.
Lot of points already well made on here, music on demand absolutely useless now, really slow to search through and who wants an advert at the beginning of each song. Youtube also pretty useless, the new search function looks as though it has been designed by a four year old and i have yet to have it show wanything other than a black screen when i try to search. The old app is marginally better but still a really poor search interface, takes forever. The on demand service lists so many shows that are not available, pointless. And now today the HD channels have no sound and the signal keeps dropping and have to change channel to try and find signal again.
I was told over half a million boxes in use so must be a success,

Ticket ref is 1835613. Can you reboot then try again and see if it now works?

It's a known bug, but a reboot will fix I'm told.

The V+ display tells you how much you've already watched, which, thinking about it, isn't really very useful.

If you press play on the TiVo remote, it'll tell you both how much time has gone, and how much is left. Much better!

I will take this in,what I am sure is the spirit it was intended.
We fully understand how to get this information. However the question was asked what we would feel would make it a better product. That was her answer with his reply. Nothing more nothing less:erm: & she finds it useful, sorry if that does not sit well in your world ;)

Ive recently changed from Sky+ to a Tivo. And there a couple of things that could be good on the next software update.

The main thing that I have noticed is that when you want to play back a recording, with Sky you can manually select where you want it to start from, buy entering 10, 20, or 30 minutes etc...

Am I missing something, or isn't this facility on the Tivo?

The nearest thing to that on TiVo is the ability to skip forwards/backwards 15 minutes at a time, by pressing fast forward >> and then press the skip button >I

If you've part viewed a program it'll start from where you stopped it last time, or as has been said there is the option to skip forward in chunks. That's good enough for me, at least.

---------- Post added at 17:22 ---------- Previous post was at 17:17 ----------

A lot of things that people consider a step back are options you find on less advanced boxes. People have to realise that Tivo is different to what's gone before and requires an attitude adjustment for the end user as much as anything - if you're going to fill it full of functions that older pvr's already do then you might as well save the effort and continue to support the old tech. I came from Sky+hd and when I got V+, well, THAT was a step back. Tivo? Well thats the future!

I agree with you however the V+ and Sky+ way of starting something at a desired point of a programme is easier than the method you and Hugh describe , plus I prefer the ability to see whats been viewed , part viewed etc. I accept TIVO is different however that doesn't mean every feature is better.

IIRC the 4th light is a download light. It lights up when the TiVo is downloading an update.

I agree fully with you about accepting TIVO is different , there are many things it does far better than the V+ and Sky+ for instance buffering on each tuner , never ending series links , remote record (something not possible on V+) , wishlists , multiroom streaming soon.

You will not regret it Richard and you still have your old box as well and a good deal to boot as well, Enjoy.

I went into the VirginMedia shop and had a quick play with a Tivo while the guy was sorting out the phone I was buying. I was well impressed. I might have to take the plunge. I'm guessing another 12m contract though?

You are right in that assumption.

Agree completedly, the only backward step with TiVo is VM is now charging £3 per box instead of per account:erm:

I have to use optical myself as my old amp does not have HDMI but works perfectly well and supports Dolby and DTS.

The only thing i think it needs is the option to create a wishlist for a specific series. Other than that it is a great feature.

Wouldn't it be easier to use the option of search all tv, find your series and then set an express series link.

As it happens, the lack of front panel display is my number one complaint about the TiVo too. But I have different priorities. :)

No problem, the lack of display panel doesn`t bother me - but I can use the remote in the semi dark the boss keeps hitting the wrong buttons ! Hey how about a remote with back light:D

The "TiVo Slide" remote has a backlight I believe, it's not yet fully compatible, but VM intend to introduce it at some stage. Other poster say the US one works, but some buttons are not compatible.

Has anyone tried using a wish list for a specific series?

I might try this when I get home tonight, I would imagine Top Gear would be a good one to test and put series 6 or something as a keyword

Worth a try I guess

I think wakingthedead may be speaking about recording a specific season (in US parlance).

My father has just had a TIVO annoyance , last night I recorded a show on my Sky+ box which he set a series link for from his mobile phone it was on BBC2, when he's watched the first part of 2 it's missed the last 3-4 minutes.

Yes the BBC and ITV are notorious for their TV schedules on some of their channels not running to time.
