Re: New Speeds - June 1st
Well, I'm at work at the moment and I live in the ST5 (Stoke/Newcastle under Lyme) area so hopefully I'll have 4mb when I get in on my rickety 120 modem.
How do you reboot a modem - why, you turn it on and off by the plug you do! |

Re: New Speeds - June 1st
Look like the speed upgrades follow the timetable shown on http://www.ntl-isp.ntl.com/ServiceStatus/
On the morning of Thursday the 15th of June between midnight and 6 AM, Network upgrades will result in a loss of service in Southampton, Swindon and the surrounding areas Hopefully Portsmouth will be upgraded on the 15th... :dozey: |
Re: New Speeds - June 1st
Reset my Samsung STB and got the speed below:
Tue, 13 Jun 2006 14:23:31 UTC 1st 512K took 923 ms = 554.7 KB/sec, approx 4571 Kbps, 4.46 Mbps 2nd 512K took 1563 ms = 327.6 KB/sec, approx 2699 Kbps, 2.64 Mbps 3rd 512K took 1516 ms = 337.7 KB/sec, approx 2783 Kbps, 2.72 Mbps 4th 512K took 1532 ms = 334.2 KB/sec, approx 2754 Kbps, 2.69 Mbps Overall Average Speed = approx 3202 Kbps, 3.13 Mbps Manchester area but I'm due for a cable modem and 10mbit since I cancelled DTV. A person on the same street as me gets 9.62 Mbps through a ntl home 250 cable modem. I'm getting around 475 KB/sec from my newsgroup news server though. Can the Samsung STB handle speeds faster than this? |
