Re: Time to go

It's all about money these days, the more a club has, the better the players, the more points you gain. And once you're the richest, you get to the top and stay there earning even more money. So some teams had better be content not winning anything.....

shocking. I've tuned out of the game anyway. I'm tired of it all now. City will win on Saturday. Arsenals officials may as well start preparing for next season. Wenger may as well leave if he wants to continue like this.

The referee is having a shocker. I appreciate that it is a home game for Utd, but the bias is embarrassing. Man Utd should be down to 9 men, and the rest of their team on yellows.

Shows you how far Man Utd have fallen, the only chance they have is to kick the opposition off the park

Ye imagine that. Finishing 5th in an initial 3 horse title race but considering what is now.. in a 4 horse title race. Incredible to think Arsenal is one of those horses! more like a damn donkey!

I'm reading its commical at the Emirates. From what I saw, line ups and all I believe Wenger reckons what he set out to do at Stamford Bridge wasn't actually right. I still don't understand how Gnabry hasn't featured much in the past weeks.

Might be drastic, but not surprised. It was always a question of WHEN not IF the fans patience ran out. The question now is, will the board and Wenger listen to the fans, or will they just carry on burying their heads in the sand?

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

Fans are furious. Its the first time I've actually seen this level of anger. I mean fans are calling Wenger 'SIF' = Specialist In Failure. Kind of funny tbh. History is history. Arsene oversaw an historic stadium move but its now time to move forward.

On another note I've been voicing Cavani a bit lately and theres good reason for that. One I'd love to see him at Arsenal. Secondly is Messi. A lot of people expects Messi to sign a record breaking contract at Barca but there are a few that believe firmly that a NEW challenge may be something that Messi is seriously considering. PSG will throw a bucket load of money at him. In recent weeks gone by Man City let it be known that they are willing to trigger his current release clause. If Messi goes to PSG then Cavani will be surplus to requirements. There will be though a host of clubs interested no doubt but Wenger does have an upper hand somewhat. Arsene had a hand in PSG being taken over by Qatari folk, I'm not sure whether he was financially rewarded for that, nonetheless they may be happier dealing with Arsene instead of say Jose. Having said all that its only one player and one player isn't enough. Arsenal always get the 1 or 2 signings done eventually yet its never enough.

Twitter isn't really representative of the entire fan base nor is someone posting a flag of anything. This is not the worst it's been. The worst was United last year.

I mean Specialist in Failure is a bit meek. Co-opting Mourinho's insult speaks volumes of some of these internet dwellers. I think there are legitimate questions about the way we go into big games and if Wenger has the ability to tactically outwit the likes of Rodgers and Mourinho as well as our transfer policy last summer. However Wenger will always be a club legend and will stand with Chapman as one of our greatest managers. So any internet-dwelling plastic fan that starting supporting Arsenal around the glory years who personally insults the man should go and support Chelsea like they would have done had they been born a couple of years later. No time for them. When he goes Wenger will have this statue and his status and these fans, no matter how hard they'll later try to deny it, won't be able to take back the way they treated a club legend.

Anyway I wouldn't be as opposed to Wenger stepping down this season although I would support him if he stayed. The question is who to take over. Klopp is obvious but who else is a realistic possibility and would be good?

thenry 26-03-2014 17:04

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

 'SIF' isn't from twitter or the internet for that matter. Fans out in the open world have jumped on it.

I cannot believe you've taken it to that extreme Damien. Everyone acknowledges Wengers achievements but moving forward its weak! He cannot even tactically prepare well enough to give the big hitters in the league a game of football! That is poor! Legend he is but God he is not.

Moyes should be given the time to build a decent team, just like Fergie had the time to do back in the late 80's. Knee jerk reactions are too common, plus Moyes inherited an ageing squad which needs an overhaul so he needs roughly 2 whole seasons to try and make some headway.

My concern is that if he is going then we need to plan the next manager. If he left then we have very little time to get a guy in place and give him the funds and time to do what he needs in the summer. Worst case scenario is they give the job to Steve Bold.

Wilshere has improved since 17. He was overdramatic there. However he hasn't improved in the last couple of years although he was out for an entire season with injury and people were saying the same about Ramsey as well.

The rest of it is pretty agreeable but again, a bit overkill. Arsenal aren't doing that badly over the course of the entire season but we have a serious problem against the big clubs.

David moyes might be available by then or avb, cracks me up when spuds fans go on about how rubbish arsene is when he achieves every season what they can't.

Why wont there be many takers for the Arsenal job? Is it because Arsenal is painted as a club that wont spend, wont support the manager? The money is there to be spent on the right players. Stan LOVES Wenger.

Scholes said it all when he said not having a Vieira there is a major factor in development or lack of.

Who though? There aren't many world class managers. Klopp yes. After that the list of realistic candidates is small.

Most of the managers are at clubs with money too and Barcelona may well be entering the fray too. Which managers do you have in mind? Klopp is the only realistic prospect I see out there and if we can't get him then who else is out there?

I am not adverse to Wenger leaving on good terms but only if we get someone good in.

Klopp is a character. Dortmund have been playing under financial constraint and still are really. Arsenal has a much bigger wage budget than Dortmunds and as for cash available.. how many other clubs have cash reserves as much as Arsenal.

We all want the same. A character, a presence, someone respected no crap, development of youngsters, tactically aware, doesn't neglect! etc..

Yes Klopp would be my choice too but if he wants to stay at Dortmund then who else is there?

This is a important question. There are few managers out there who kick all the boxes: consistent (several years) evidence of performance at more than one club, competing at the top level and the Champions League and shown an ability to spend money on decent players. At of the managers out there that meet that spec, who could we get?

This is the same as the Moyes out crowd. You need a realistic suggestion of who would come in.

Keeper should have saved it, it was on his side and wasn't even near the corner of the goal.

Klopps just signed a new deal as well until 2018 not that it matters possibly. If the money is waved both Dortmund and Klopp may bite ?

If a new manager isn't brought in then the structure at Arsenal needs to changed whether people like it or not. Players need to be brought in and Wenger himself needs to change a little. His methods have failed. Getting to the minimum requirement isn't success.

I think he might be tempted away as the chance won't come often (unless he thinks Moyes is for the chop) and there would be increased resources than he has at Dortmund but also a club that would be willing to give him time to build the squad he wants.

Stories in the papers tomorrow of dressing room unrest at United. I am beginning to wonder if Moyes will hold on now. Surely the pressure has to give?

Word is doing the rounds that an Arab-based takeover bid for United is being mounted, with members of the Class of 92 fronting it. This sort of rumour pops up every few years but this one seems to have a lot more credibility behind it. I can't see the Glaziers handing it over easily but I won't complain if they did.
