Of course it wouldn't perhaps be necessary if there wasn't cheating and dishonesty in matches.......

But there are genuine mistakes made by the officials that have proved costly in the past.

The list of important mistakes is pretty endless.

Four minutes to make a decision is ridiculous, fans in the stadium have no way of knowing what's going on, the ref is constantly undermined by a mob of players demanding he 'go to VAR' and finally on decisions of interpretation VAR should play no part at all, like lanzini diving, one panel (disciplinary) decided he dived another (Sky) decided he didn't, it's not unthinkable to envisage similar with VAR, if we're not careful it's going to get out of hand, of course these could be teething problems and imo limited use might improve the game but don't bank on it

VAR is still in the early stages. You can display the video on screen so people know what's happening and work out the optimal times to use it and how to judge it.

Many sports have eventually benefited for the introduction of Technology, Tennis, Rugby and Cricket. Football is going in the right direction but the process in which the VAR is used and operated needs a lot of work.

They need to stop the players talking to the ref when there's a VAR incident, the talking slows the process down

They need to somehow make the VAR process transparent for the crowd 3 or 4 minutes where the crowd doesn't know what's going on is no good for the game.

They need to add the minutes taken up by the use of the VAR to the end of each half.

If the VAR stops players diving and shirt pulling I'm all for it

FA cup draw made and the blatant "seeding" continues.

How much did Liverpool pay for a bench warmer, £75,000.

Re: Season 2017/2018

Islam Slimani has actually arrived in Newcastle unlike Daniel Sturridge who ended up at West Brom. Feel like we've dodged a bullet with both Sturridge and Ings. Sturridge I'd have tried out I guess. A loan is still a massive risk when these players are likely key to survival. Ings is far too much of a gamble. Slimani will be out for just over a week or so but it's the right move barring a permanent move for Jorgenson which seems like a lot of money to spend for a club that'll likely be revamped in the summer should they survive and conclude being taken over.

Martin Dubravka is also en route to Newcastle.
