Yodel is an awesome name for a delivery service!

Also have a great track record for losing or damaging deliveries if my examples of their service with Amazon are anything to go by.

I have been a VM customer when it all started with NYNEX and been thru various changes in company and this is how they treat loyal customer.

Entirely agree, been a customer since the days of Midlands cable in early 90's given the amount of money thay have had from me over the years I think the upgrade should be free.

But VM love him if he is to be believed on the amount of money he's spent on upgrades, superhubs etc.

Haha, very good point.
No wonder why there are activation charges on packages ;)

Ordered upgrade! Woop!

This superhub, is it a modem, router or both? I want to keep using my current wireless router.

The Superhub is a combined modem/router see here. http://shop.virginmedia.com/broadban...s-routers.html

It's both, and currently no official way of turning off the router part.

But the good news is that systems are just starting to be upgraded for 30mb and it should be completed by the end of the week. So next Monday, I'll be checking again.

Thanks for proving my point about the fool being the company and illustrating how stupid VM are. You call through to retentions multiple times within a single day angling for a deal on 30Mb, all of which should be logged, and they indulge you, amusing. :)

Dream on. VM would give do anything if they think it would help the churn figures. The retention policy is laughable as my own experience suggests.

Even you are not that stupid to downgrade to 30Mb for little or no reason.:D

I can't afford £35 a month on 50Mb but now I am paying just £21.50 with £5.00 off discount loyalty for 30 Meg. That's suit me fine as I am a full time student.

Although it's probably just wasting power, isn't it possible to enable the mode where you can link router to router, as if it was an extender?
RIP comes into mind, but as my routers broke, I can't have a look at the settings to see.

No, wait until the 'retention' offers are updated and you should be fine.

I've no idea i'm afraid i don't no anything about routers, i just know there is likely to be a firmware update eventually to let you not use the integrated VM router part.

Re: 20 Mb/s to 30Mb/s free upgrade

Sorry, just to clarify if I take this offer to upgrade to 30Mb do I automatically get the upload increase too ?

I'm on 20mbit currently with the 768 up (which is a struggle most days) my area wont get the upload increase until August :(

And how good is this superhub ? I've got a WNR2000 which basically does it's thing day in day out without issue, nice and fast wireless N too. I don't want to shoot myself in the foot as apart from the upload path my service is good.
