Yeah I've finally been upgraded with the new speed boost.!!

I get 82KB/s (656Kb/s) speeds downloads which is superb - much higher than expected on my Broadband Speed Test. :)

I phoned tech support because website kept saying i had been upgraded but my modem said i hadn't. I told them that their website had said congratulations blah blah blah since Monday but it still wasn't. I explained how I had been rebooting my modem everyday since Monday with no success, then he put me on hold, the synch light went out on my modem, then it came back on again, then he told me to reboot the modem and it should be ok now, so i rebooted modem, he checked the modem from his end and said it was registering 1536000kb, I said thankyou very much you very nice man and went surfing.

Re: [Merged] BB Speed Upgrades

Is it normal for the upgrade to require manual working inside the green box?

Reason I ask if there is 2 of those little NTL:Home vans outsider the box on our street, with those little orange lights flashing.

Probably a fault I imagine :/

Sorry to go slightly off subject [and if its been asked] are AOL getting this 1.5 and 750 upgrade btw?
My m8 would rather pay more and and have no d\load restrictions placed on him.

Dont think so, Think of AOL as a customer to NTL, like Pipex is a customer to BT, they share a core network but thats about it, and isnt AOL restricted on NTL to only 512k anyway?

nope AOL speeds are staying as they are

Re: [Merged] BB Speed Upgrades

If AOL wanted speed upgrades for their customers they could have it any time, they haven't chosen to so they haven't got it.

On the subject of download limits, even though NTL say they have a 1gb a day cap, I really wouldn't take this too seriously as it's not a strictly enforced cap like that of Freeserve or BT etc.
I've been doing 2.5 gig a day average (says DUMeter) for the last 6 months (when I installed DUMeter, so is probably longer than that) and haven't heard a peep from NTL.

I wouldn't say that at all... how could AOL increase speeds for cable customers but not for ADSL?

people chose their ISP so if people want to chose AOL that is upto them.... i wouldn't ever go with AOL but that is just my opinion :)
