Newcastle United 2012 detailed accounts have been published: profit of £1.4m (2011 £32.6m) #NUFC
https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...4/34.jpg:large

The £31.3m fall in #NUFC profit explained by £31.4m reduction in profit on player sales from £36.7m to £6.5m, due to 2011 Andy Carroll sale.

#NUFC revenue rose 5% from £88.5m to £93.3m, which is 7th highest in England and 20th highest in the world.

#NUFC 2012 revenue £93.3m (2011 £88.5m): match day £23.9m (2011 £24.3m), TV £55.6m (2011 £48.5m), commercial £13.8m (2011 £15.8m).

#NUFC 2012 average attendance rose from 47,746 to 49,936 (3rd highest in England), but match day revenue down due to season ticket discounts

#NUFC 2012 TV revenue up £7m, mainly due to higher league position (5th vs 17th) and 2 more live televised matches.

#NUFC 2012 commercial revenue down £2m, but these figures exclude new Wonga sponsorship deal.

#NUFC 2012 staff costs up 20% to £64.1m (2011 £53.6m), leading to rise in wages to turnover ratio from 61% to 69%.

Despite much transfer activity, #NUFC 2012 player amortisation and impairment down £4.6m to £12.6m.

#NUFC spending in Jan window (Sissoko, Debuchy, Gouffran, Yanga-Mbiwa, Haidara) not included. Cost £27m, but player sales ( mainly Ba) £12m.

#NUFC 2012 gross debt down £11m to £129m (2011 £140m), made up of interest-free loans from owner Mike Ashley.

#NUFC 2012 net debt is only down £1m to £129m (2011 £130m), as prior year cash balances of £10m have become a £0.3m overdraft.

Tottenham Hotspur 2012 full accounts have been published: loss before tax £7.3m (2011 profit before tax £0.4m) #THFC
https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...4/35.jpg:large

Thanks to tax credits, #THFC loss after tax smaller (than before tax loss) at £4.3m (2011 profit after tax £0.7m).

#THFC revenue dropped 12% from last year’s record £163.5m to £144.2m, which is still 6th highest in England and 13th highest in the world.

#THFC 2012 revenue £144.2.5m (2011 £163.5m): match day £41.1m (2011 £43.3m), TV £61.6m (2011 £83.1m), commercial £41.5m (2011 £37.1m).

Main reason for #THFC £19.3m revenue fall is going from Champions to Europa, cutting prize money & gate receipts by £30.7m (37.1m to 6.4m).

#THFC 2012 domestic TV revenue up £5m, mainly due to higher league position (4th vs 5th) and 6 more live televised matches.

#THFC 2012 commercial income up £4m, mainly due to more revenue from main sponsorship deal, offset by lower merchandising sales.

#THFC 2012 profit on player sales £9.2m similar to 2011 £8.6m, including Crouch, Palacios, Keane, O’Hara, Hutton, Pavlyuchenko and Corluka.

#THFC 2012 staff costs cut 1% to £90.2m (2011 £91.1m), though wages to turnover ratio rose from 56% to 63% following fall in revenue.

#THFC 2012 player amortisation fell £14.5m to £25m “as a result of significant player disposals”.

#THFC 2012 highest paid director received £2.2m (2011 £1.8m), presumably chairman Daniel Levy.

#THFC 2012 gross debt up £8m to £86m (2011 £78m), comprising bank loans and securitisation funds. Less £16m cash gives net debt of £70m.

#THFC 2012 net interest payable up to £5.7m (2011 £1m), mainly due to no interest credit on Preference Shares (£4m in 2011).

#THFC continued to invest heavily in the stadium project and new training centre – £42m net (according to cash flow statement).

#THFC finances will be boosted in 2012/13 season by hefty player sales, e.g. Modric to Real Madrid and Van der Vaart to Hamburg.

British-based company Hawk-Eye have been awarded the contract to provide goal-line technology (GLT) for the Premier League next season.

Hawk-Eye missed out to German rivals GoalControl to provide GLT for the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2014 World Cup in Brazil, but have been chosen to supply, install and maintain the technology at the 20 Premier League stadiums next season, as well as Wembley.

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

Hawk-Eye chosen as provider of goal-line technology for the Premier League

British-based firm Hawk-Eye has been chosen as the provider of goal-line technology for the Premier League.

The camera-based ball-tracking system was recommended as the preferred option - rather than the German alternative Goalcontrol - with a unanimous vote at a meeting of the 20 top-flight clubs.

Hawk-Eye, which was sold to technology giant Sony two years ago, already provides camera-based systems for tennis and cricket, and its equipment is now set to be in place at Premier League grounds and Wembley Stadium from next season.

Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore said: "The Premier League has been a long-time advocate of Goal-line Technology, and at times it didn't look like it would be something we would be able to introduce.

"However, since FIFA took the decision to permit it we have been working hard to get a system in as soon as practically possible.

"Principally it is about getting it right. Fans, players and managers exhort, strain and stress respectively for their teams to score or prevent goals being scored, so we as administrators should do all that we can to ensure the correct decisions are being made.

"Of the four companies that are currently licensed by FIFA, Hawk-Eye stood out for their excellent track record in delivering for sport over many years."

England coach Roy Hodgson said: "Well it's the same as everyone else. We're not behind people. It's same for all European countries.

"It had to be approved by FIFA and for many years they were against it - and I can understand their opposition in one sense. It costs lots of money which means only certain countries can benefit from it.

"The major fear for FIFA has been where is it going to end - are we going to have a very different game in the future. Will game be stopped and it goes to panel of experts who will study the video and make a decision. So I can understand there's been reticence.

"But with goal-line technology there's less reason to doubt its usefulness. It's one of those momentous days that go down like changing of offside law."

Stoke chairman Peter Coates added: "I am for it, and all the other clubs are for it, and we'll see how it plays out. I am not for technology everywhere but I think, however many extra officials you have behind the goal-line, you are back to human error, unless you eliminate that.

"We want to keep it simple, and we still want plenty of controversy so I don't think we want to overdo it."

I was initially an advocate for goal line tech...now i am not so sure.

The money for that would be better spent encouraging youth.

The number of times a goal is disallowed for not being over the line isn't that often

and main issue these days is the refs...like the europa game tonight with chelsea

WHAT we have to do is buy more strikers, we cannot rely on other players to score goals, but the biggest problem you have when British teams play in Europe is where 'Oscar' winning divers from European teams go down so easily and get players booked and the officials allow this.

Are you trolling? or have you forgotten the amount of times Gareth Bale has been booked this season for simulation?

Onto Newcastle then, this season has been poor for many reasons but mainly because of the failure to strengthen in the summer, we expected to travel around Europe with the squad we had and perform consistently in the Premier League.. just no, it was all wrong from the get go, injuries followed which you should have expected. It's been an all round poor year in Europe for all English clubs, Chelsea look to rescue some pride but it's really not good enough. Benfica are tough opposition but let's be honest they are Champions League whipping boys every year. We failed to take our chances away from home and to be fair it could have been 3-1 to us on the night had we not made mistakes and took our chances. My dislike for Steven Taylor grows, I get he's a geordie and I get that he's proud to represent but the way he milks the crowd is past annoying and his handballs have cost us something dearly over the years. We won't be competing in Europe next season which may be what we need to get another good season out of this team. It's about time we pushed for an English trophy like the LC or FA cup, tired of seeing us field crap teams in both trophies and getting ourselves knocked out by lower league teams.

Sunderland 2012 detailed accounts have been published: £32.3m loss is significantly worse than 2011 £7.8m loss #SAFC
https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...4/27.jpg:large

#SAFC loss is even higher than previously announced OPERATING loss of £26.9m, due to loss on player sales £3.1m and interest £2.2m.

#SAFC £32.2m loss is 3rd highest in 2011/12 PL, only below #MCFC £98.7m and #LFC £40.5m. Total losses for last 4 years are £95m.

Main reason for £24.5m rise in #SAFC loss is player sales: 2011 £25.6m profit to 2012 loss £3.1m. Losses due to releasing players cheaply.

Last year #SAFC player sales included Henderson, Bent and Jones, while 2012 losses presumably due to Malbranque, Ferdinand, Gyan, etc.

#SAFC 2012 revenue £78.0m (2011 £79.4m): gate receipts £14.1m (2011 £12.4m), TV £47.0m (2011 £48.1m), commercial £16.8m (2011 £18.9m).

#SAFC 2012 wages up 5% to £64.0m (2011 £60.9m) with wages to turnover ratio rising from 77% to 82%.

Before tomorrow’s big north-east derby, interesting that both #SAFC and #NUFC have almost exactly the same wage bill at around £64m.

#SAFC 2012 highest paid director received £2.4m, incl £2m compensation for loss of office, presumably chairman Niall Quinn (left Feb 2012).

#SAFC 2012 gross debt up £6m to £85m (2011 £79m), comprising £41m owed to owner Ellis Short, bank loans £33m and a bank overdraft £11m.

Since year-end #SAFC have committed a further £29m on new players including Steven Fletcher, Adam Johnson, Alfred N’Diaye and Danny Graham.

I think a major problem with 'divers' is that the officials should take a better look at the situation, and use there linesman more.

I always remember when l was a remember, and the diving that went on. I sent off a player for a blatant dive - l was running behind him and there was a player at least TWO feet away and he went down in the box with an Oscar role dive, and claimed he was pushed - so l sent him off.
He complained to the league and it was ME who got banned for two games, so l packed the game in. He clearly dived, but the league did nothing - this is why officials are supposed to see these things.

We're in an age where cheating is acceptable. I don't like it any more than you do but cheating is the norm now. As soon as there is contact you're entitled to go down... that is absolute rubbish, if there is not significant enough contact and you go down then that is a dive.. plain and simple. I'm sick of having pundits and commentators look for the slightest bit of contact to justify what's just happened. If the above is the case then every corner kick in the Premier League is a penalty. Too many ego's and threats though.

Can anyone remember when it was suggested Alan Shearer threatened to pull out of the Euro's if he was banned for kicking Neil Lennon? whilst we don't strictly know if it's true its an example.

Until they start banning people after the game for deliberate handballs, dives and so on then nothing will change.

I go back to my solution for other offences.

Castration.

I bet they wouldn't dive if that was the punishment :) (come on delia..sing it.."off with the ghoulies, let's be having youuuuu" :D

Absolute disgrace. How the Hell can the referee on the spot not see a penalty but a linesman 50+ yards away can? That was a disgraceful decision, and I hope the bribe he got from Arsenal was worth having the whole Norwich team waiting for you in the tunnel after the game.

I have totally gone off Arsenal now. Sack Wenger and let the drug baron Usmanov run the club into the ground.

oh come off it Mark. it was a peno, soft may be with both tugging but ultimately the forceful tug bringing Giroud down so Norwich can clear the ball was there for all to see.

Usmanov wont run the club into the ground but thanks for your well wishes!

Probably not, just very cross about the decision. I fail to see how someone 50+ yards away can see a clear penalty when the referee doesn't signal for one and no Arsenal player appeals for.

Yes, I think they (officials) should maybe query the linesman...or get him a sponsorship deal with specssavers :)

Giroud did look to the ref Mark. tbh the ref was poor all game, and im not just saying that. Norwich should have had a couple of yellows.

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

From what l can tell Both Arsenal and Norwich players were pulling at each other shirts, so where was the penalty.

Strange thing is Clattenburg was the same referee who done the Spurs game, when they scored against United and neither the linesman or Clattenburg saw the ball go over the line TWO FEET, and the keeper throw the ball out and said it was a goal kick.

If anything the officials are a disgrace, its not a question of who saw what, but this is where you need someone closely watching a TV screen and then saying what is what.

Officials are a disgrace.

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

Arsenal game should have been at most a 1 all draw. That was never a corner in the first place, Giroud was pulling the Norwich player as well, which the referee had a clear view of, so he let it go. Linesman from 50 yards cannot see clearly, so why the chuff he flagged for a penalty is beyond me. Total disgrace, and I hope he is dropped now as he clearly cannot be trusted to be impartial.

Second goal was fine, no complaints about that one. Third goal, Giroud elbowed a Norwich player, and the one who crossed the ball was offside clearly. Yet again Richard West lets it slide. I am disgusted with that game, and I feel Wenger needs to watch the game and amend his statement. Arsenal deserved nothing more than a point, and it's about time he cleared off from the Premier League.

If this game puts Norwich down, I would be very aggreived and would make a strong complaint about the behaviour of Richard West.

What about Norwich's goal from the free kick that wasn't? Also Giroud is hardly fouling the Norwich player either he is trying to push him away. The linesman isn't going to be dropped as he got the decision correct. The ref on the other hand.

Also there was the push on Walcott that could easily have been a pen too.

1 all draw. are you crazy. did you not just watch the highlights. Arsenal won that game even if those goals were not legit. fact is there were other opportunities, fouls not called up on therefore you cant really fault a win. id somewhat understand if Norwich got robbed left right and center but they wasn't. it was Arsenal but the bent decisions made up for it.

Any team could win here with this scoreline. The Newcastle defence has been dismal all season and not many exploit it but today we've seen it in it's glory.

The whole 4-5-1 is so useless and flawed when it comes to Newcastle but week after week we persist with awful performances and scraping 1-0 wins at the death, was only a matter of time.

Jonas has to go, as above, he's getting worse every season and I have no idea what Pardew still see's in him.

He hasn't got a ten year contract, he has a one year rolling one that states any club trying to sign him must pay seven or ten years of his salary to get him, they'd probably settle for seven months now!

It's ignorant to assume we're safe, our defending and inability to put the ball in the net says otherwise. I'm not the deluded geordie you catch on the TV ranting about winning the league. Pardew's tactics simply don't work and assuming he'll be here next week then they have to change. Pa**** Cisse up front alone just isn't cutting it and for a club that's supposedly looking to invest and buy wisely as well as spend money wisely.. paying Shola Ameobi a wage each week amazes me. He's to Newcastle fans what Heskey is to English football in general.

BAHA! Someone just suggested Benitez take over at Newcastle.. at least some amusement will be had this day. I know everyone hate's Benitez for whatever reason but he's still a top manager and I doubt he'd be caught dead at Newcastle.
