OK - Another very quick question.

Is there any way of emptying the deleted programs folder, without having to delete every individual item that's in there?

Pressing 'clear' on the folder doesn't work.

Thanks.

But you don't need to, as any space they take will be re-used.

There isn't that I know of, but these will delete automatically, won't affect the amount of space you have for new recordings and, as far as I'm aware, won't be included in the calculation for the percentage of space used shown at the top of the "my shows" screen, so unless you have serious ocd then I guess there's no way to do it because there's no need to do it.

I have just joined this forum having been on the TiVo Community forum since 2008 when I bought my first two TiVo S1s. Through you guys I have enabled the US TiVo iPad App.

Nice to find another group of people who in the main love TiVo (and CPFC).

The listing by time and channel under 'manual Recording' are also very useful for setting up you weeks list of programmes to be recorded.

Do you have to keep the wish list film or does the folder stay if you keep it?

you can delete the wishlist film, if there any no films in there the folder goes but then if you record a film it puts it back in the folder. Becuase its a wishlist it started recording suggested films so i changed the options to New Only and it didnt record anymore suggested films. I can now record a film from any channel and it will go in the films folder thou

it did take me about 3-4 attemps to get it to work correctly thou as i think its trial and error. In the categories i choose HD then in sub categories i choose film. 1st time i did it i only choose film. i do think its trial and error like i say

your welcome, im only passing on the info i have found, use this link below and that will tell you how to set it up. Post back on how you get on and your settings for it and i cna see if it works any different to mine

http://vmhd.blogspot.com/2011/06/cre...r-tivo-my.html

oh and i didnt set it to 1 i set it to all in the wishlist
now read the reason the folder needs to be equal to 1 is that so only 1 film will be recorded as a suggestion and it doesnt record loads of suggestions but you need it to record 1 film to create the folder. Looks like i need to change mine when i get home then, i bet all my hdd space will be usesd by the time i get back home from suggestions

My parents had their ageing SA V+ box replaced with a 500GB TiVo (my Xmas present to them) earlier today. I have to say that they're very impressed so far and so am I. Already they've picked up a lot more about its functionality than they ever did about the V+ box. Mum even managed to teach herself how to do the basics just by reading the leaflets that the installer left behind, so they're obviously well written as she's not very technical-minded.

I just have one question on live events, once you have purchased an event does it appear on channel 555 when the programme is about to start? The reason why I ask is there is no channel 0 on TiVo and at present this channel is saying I am not subscribed to it please ring 150:confused:

No, what is rude is you posting incoherent and muddled posts, and expecting others to decipher them.

If you want to get a message across, it needs to be clear and concise.

I agree with you. It was annoying not having the time available but I got round that by putting a clock next to it. My big problem is not knowing whether the box is on or off so sometimes when switching on with my Harmony it switches the box off.

The channel number would be a bit difficult as which one would you display as it has three tuners :D

No it wasn't at all.

Also there is no update in January or Q1 2012. The November update to 15.2 has been coded with support for red button services but as yet they haven't been switched on. It has been mentioned in this thread and others. All you are doing is confusing matters with repeated info posted in such away that it makes no sense to anyone.

To watch the event, go to Home->On Demand->More On Demand->Live Events->Your Rentals. Channel 555 is a left-over from the days when TiVo couldn't do pay-per-view through the menus, and is no longer needed.

Wow. Back less than a day and already he's derailing threads.

---

Anyway, back on topic. I must admit, apart from the new YouTube app, occasional iPlayer app problems and that annoying habit the EPG has of falling back to All Channels 15.2 is a massive improvement and gets the TiVo much closer to where it should be.

I think maybe the US TiVo users should be thanking Virgin Media and it's critical customer base for helping improve their future products. According to an article I read, a lot of the problems we all harp on about have been there a long time and have prevented the TiVo from working it's way into the living rooms of all but the most ardent geeks.

What I'm saying is, we should keep up the constructive criticism, because as Virgin Media become a proper company rather than a merged version of various regional cable providers it appears they are listening to their customers and ironing out flaws as they go with more efficiency.

Thanks Digital fanatic, got my box yesterday so trying to sort out the features that I used to often use on my old set up.

BTW is it possible to change the BBC local news region. We get the London news whereas we are really in the Southeast region. The ITV news is Meridian & again SE would be handy.

As a rule if you press record while viewing, a programme will record:-

1. from the start and can be found in my shows providing you are less than 30 minutes in as this is the maximum size of the buffer which will be stitched on the front; or

2. Everything after the last channel change for that tuner.

When a film has a rating out of 4 stars where does that come from? Can you rate the films?

True, makes you wonder then why the V+ has reminders then with a deadicated channel 0:erm:

Just takes a bit getting use to treating live events the same as watching a purchased movie.

Finally in the next few months now the 15.2 update is completed they will remove these 2 confusing TiVo channels from the EPG?

What an absolute joke iPlayer on TiVo is.

The lack of multi screen was a shambles from the start but a software update that renders the service virtually unusable. :shakesheadindisbeliefsmilie:

The star ratings are from Tribune Media Services, which provides the programming listings to many TV books across the country. TMS uses reviews from several sources - including Variety, Roger Ebert, Leonard Maltin and Videohound - to determine its star ratings.

For some reason the old youtube app has now got a new logo.

I think that is so you know that it is the Old youtube app.

You would think so and then Virgin Media could just put the Live events on channel 0 on Tivo like all the other Virgin Media boxes.

They will still be a update in January/Q1 2012 and which going by what i have read will make Multiroom streaming fully enabled and there is probably other things not annouced yet.

I am really hoping Express Series Link is made user configurable in the January/Q1 2012 update

Ben, I was pretty sure I read somewhere that the red button for mutli-screen for BBC and Sky was going to be introduced on TIVO by the end of the year. Did i dream it??? (it's quite possible) If I did is there any word on when it might come. I'm holding off on Tivo until it's working....cheers pal :)

Its highly likely to come in the first quarter of 2012 but Ben will know more but HE is unlikely to reveal much because of NDA'S.

OMG Don't you listen. There is NO update coming in the new year. Red button is enabled in the box, its just the apps need released and they DO NOT need an update, they are just rolled out when they are available. Same goes for MRS, it just needs a switch flicked to turn it on.

Also as there is no update in January there is no chance of the express link changing.

Red Button which actually does something useful and what everybody else knows as "Red Button", i.e. what we had on V+ on channels like BBC, is NOT enabled i.e. what is now is a pile of cr*p which is why you see comments from users wanting the "real" red button. It might be a case of activating so not an update agreed but it is not there now in what people expected, especially new Tivo users who then realise what is missing.

Not expecting an update in January but certainly better be at some stage in 2012. If VM think 15.2 sorted everything out on Tivo then think again. The product is not even stable right now with issues like iPlayer performance/reliability.

Express series link is an exceptionally bad implementation and cannot believe VM wil be stupid enough to leave it as it is. Get it sorted VM, if they had any sense they would implement changes in the next update whenever that may be!

I know that red button (apps) do not need a update. They could if they wanted to release the red button apps with the update which in my opinion will happen in Q1 2012.

The New youtube app is a example of a new app coming with a update.

I still think there will be a update in Q1 2012.

Apps of any kind do not need an update to be rolled out. The Youtube app would have happened with or without an update.

There will not be an update as there isn't any planned for the near future.

Another way, possibly faster... while in full-screen TV mode, press info, scroll down to the ® icon, press right, choose the stream with up/down (if needed), press right, then hold down the |<- button for a few seconds to jump to the start of the recording. Then enjoy timeshifted viewing; if you've left enough time before watching you can fast-forward through the breaks and catch up with the program at the end.

Wow, that looks a lot more complicated when written down. It's not though, honest!

2. Everything after the last channel change for that tuner.

Good tip, but the buffer is a max of 60 minutes rather than 30.

I asked that over on VM Community... they come from Tribune etc. Using the Roger Ebert style four-star with halves method, but those are NOT his rankings.

I know that was an irate answer but the info is pretty useful, nice short definition of the red button features coming as apps. Hopefully less buggy/features missing than the ones already on there.

I think Express Series Link is a great idea, all we need is ability to change defaults via TiVo UI. I almost always want "new & reruns, all episodes, keep until delete, no padding" so being able to choose that would make the TiVo much less fiddly. It's a shame TiVo isn't more like XBMC, where if something can't be altered by GUI you can edit the skin XML files and add the option(s) you need.

Sorry for the long multi-quote post, just a lot of points I wanted to make...

Red Button - all the information sevices, news, etc plus red button also used for multiple matches at the same time e.g. Wimbledon/Football - that one really annoys people who like red button to change over to other matches

YMMV Issue - was referring to Tivo generally not just iplayer, it is definitely NOT the finished product by a long stretch. Just go over the VM Support forum and catch the thread on those returning Tivo's

Express Links - agree a good idea but badly implemented for several reasons one of which you mentioned namely user configurable; back to back padding implications also has to be addressed, it is worse than what the Sky box does on this, see http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/...-O/td-p/913291

Overall I do like Tivo though so don't get me wrong here when I do criticize it. Just don't want VM to take their focus away from progressively improving it. 15.2 update can only be the start and it is not just about new features but improving what is there already.

Hi there

Apologies about the delay in replying to this thread. We have been awaiting some information rearding an upgrade that has been done. As of today we should start seeing a reduction in the problems with BBC I Player.

Can we ask that you do a few tests in the next 24 hours and ask anyone who has not done so in the last 48 hours to do a reboot on their boxes and try the application again.

Please let us know if your still getting problems and we can check individual accounts.

Can you also please start your own individual posts so we can keep a track on each persons query.

Once again we apologise for the delay and thank you for your patience with us in this matter.

Thanks

Claire

No I can make my own mind up as I have Tivo, but Tivo is a service not just a box and if I had the reboot issues and features like iPlayer hardly not working then I can understand why some people are demanding Tivo is taken away.

Overall I can put up with Tivo's shortfalls as benefits outweigh negatives.
