Yes my experiences of hospital transport have not been good in the last couple of years as one time we did not get back to Plymouth till 1.00 in the morning from London as he arrived 4 hours late and then we had to go to the moon and back to drop off other patients before l was finally dropped off.

Me, Nashville? Nooo.
So long as I trust the operator, the machanics and the mechanic I'll get aboard anything!
Think of it as getting on a fairground ride or a hovercraft or putting on roller skates.
You fly to the states, yes? 'tis the same thing but a bit more basic inside. And noisier. And no cabin staff.

Well a thrilling day out for me. Blood tests (5 vials of the stuff, I asked her if she was a distant relation to Dracula. She laughed.), an ECG, peak flow, MRSA swabs, temperature, blood pressure, and that was pretty much it.

Now to wait until next Wednesday when it happens. Looking forward to it. And looks like I'm going to be having the full general, with an injection of local at the base to help with pain relief once I wake up.

Aye hard to explain but it's like the mattress is heated, as it radiates heat upwards. We also only use a very light summer weight duvet and that is ample for us even though Mr T is normally complaining about the cold. Once I get in bed I could swear I don't move from the spot and when I get up I expect to see the shape of a body where I have been lying lol! :D:D:D

I attended a conference in Liverpool last month, and gave my business card to one of the stands for a prize draw.

I got home today and found I had won a HP ElitePad 900 Win8 tablet, which I am posting from at the moment.

So now, I have an iPad, A Toshiba T100 Android tablet, a Nexus 7, an a HP Win8 tablet, a Chillblast PC, a Samsung X900 laptop, a iPhone5, and a Samsung S3 - probably enough devices for now....

Excellent news for me today, despite high blood sugars I am not to be put on insulin. However, they want to try me with another 2 tablets to see how that goes. So if I get put on them, that means 1 injection of Byetta twice a day and at least 6 tablets twice a day just for diabetes. Add into that 1 tablet a day for blood pressure and 1 a day for cholesterol and I am shocked I don't rattle when I move.

---------- Post added at 21:39 ---------- Previous post was at 21:09 ----------

Just worked out what my medication costs a month, and before any new ones are added in it costs £197 a month. That's the cost for the production of it. Some are only 77 pence or 30 pence but my Byetta injection pen costs £68.24 a month so you can see why things like that are only given sparingly.

Hope the alternatives to insulin work for you Mark. The stress you are under will not be helping your Blood Sugar levels so maybe having that threat taken away will help a tad as well.

My happiness to-day has been getting my new laptop up and running and being able to stop using my Kindle on line. The only thing I lost was my Firefox profile so, considering how little time I had to close down my old laptop, it could have been a lot worse. At least I managed to save all my Bookmarks so that I won't have to track down a couple of hundred web sites.

The new Samsung seems very good but I don't think I will be keeping Widows 8 for long 'cause, even though I have installed a start button which delivers up the same functions as Windows 7, it just feels wrong. Maybe I am just too set in my ways. :D

They do now the dosages have been sorted out, the nurse mentioned gastric surgery but that seems to be the cowards way out. Although weighing it up, a £5,000 gastric band op as a one off cost versus £2,500 a year medication for the next 30 or 40 years.

My happy? thought.

I was talking to friends last night and apparently in the local community I have something of a reputation as 'that blind guy who is an IT / Computer expert'

I dunno if I feel fluffy or not :)

Your abilities obviously outweigh any disabilities you may have....:)

Best not broadcast the fluffy bit though.

Being known as a 'Pink fluffy blind guy who has been known to enjoy wearing a nighty and is an IT / Computer expert' doesn't have quite the ring to it. :)

Good news, the GP has said I can finally start weaning myself off the anti depressants as I am much happier than a year ago. Bad news, he is overruling my diabetes nurse and is going to start me on insulin in May.

Well today I pre ordered my next phone "HTC ONE" not bad deal 500 mins, unlimited text & Data all for £26 pm.

I question the Unlimited data and I was told the first 1GB is at the top speed, and after that reduced for the remainder of the month.

Just did my first ever Parkrun 5k, looks like I came in at about 23 mins 40 and recorded my fastest ever mile at 7 mins 11. Official times will be up later but considering I've just come off the back of a 5 week lay-off I'm pretty happy with that :)

I am ashamed to admit it is not only the first cake I made with Peter but the first cake I have made ever.

Well the first cake we made was a disaster but things have somewhat improved since that first disaster.

I have baked cakes ever since I was a toddler but the first cake I made in a new fangled microwave oven sat on the lawn for days, even the birds couldn't make a dent in it. :(
When John eventually dropped it in the dustbin you could hear the thud as it hit the bottom halfway down the street.

Ours was like a biscuit sponge. Natalie tells us we didn't mix it for long enough. Going to try again next time Peter is here :)

Good Stuff Russ. My best is just under 23 mins. After a 5 week lay off I'd be happy to duck under half an hour.

Well - another day in hospital and another cast.

But at least it's on the other leg so they can waste away evenly :)

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

Not sure if I should be happy or not. My op, which was cancelled because of high glucose readings, is now apparently scheduled for May 1. Despite them saying I had to get my glucose levels down, and as I am due to start insulin in May, my sugars won't be better managed now until at least start of June.

Totally confused. Wish hospitals could make their minds up. Now waiting for the pre assessment nurse to call me back to discuss whether to have the op on May 1 or leave it until I've been on insulin for a few weeks.

I'm glad you're back on track. :tu:

My happy? thought - Natalie got a second hand wooden bed frame (with new mattress) at the weekend.

Which is has just been delivered.

Trouble is I've got to take the old metal one apart and build this new one before she gets home and I've got no sight or instructions. I am going to have a great afternoon.

Right now I'm procrastinating ;)

Dirty boy. :) You'll do fine building it. Hope it is all back on track, still waiting for a call back.

Finally called back, and it was booked by mistake. I've got to get my GP to refer me back once I've been on insulin for a few weeks and blood sugars are under control. So realistically looking at middle of June, beginning of July.

I think the the green card allows you to reside and work in the US?

Do you still keep your UK passport?

And... was/is the packing all done?

Happy thought - I went off for some warm spring and I came home to find that it's here too at last. :)

On the weekend I spent a night in a hotel, I meant to order a queen concert on demand from the hotels TV channel, but my mistake I ordered a Justin Bieber concert :(

But to save any embarrassment, on my bill they put it down as Porn :D

It's the equivalent of permanent leave to remain here, It allows you to live and work in the US and is valid for 10 years before it has to be renewed. I will still be a UK citizen & keep my passport. No packing done at all & so much to do!

You mean that you could be allowed back at any moment?

Do you have a departure date?

Stay in touch here yes?

If you should run out of packing boxes I volunteer to look after your music collection ;)
