Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

My daughter (aged 27, and not at all sporty) just finished her first (and probably only) mini-triathlon (400M swimming, 14K cycling, and 7K running) - she did it in 2 hours and 3 minutes. Her husband (who used to do triathlons at Uni) did it in 1 hour 26 minutes.

So proud of her, as it is not something she would normally do, and she has raised over £1000 for charity by doing it.

Very well done to both of them! Will she do it again however? Now may not be the best time to ask of course... ;)

Temper your sadness re the donation of a pancreas with the certainty that the loved ones of the donor would be delighted if their loss gave someone life. When my late wife died I didn't think twice about offering anything they could harvest by way of organs since I was well aware of her views on the subject.

I'm sure we all wish you and Natalie the very best! :tu:

Thank you :tu:

I certainly aim to send a letter to the family of the donor to tell them how much I appreciate the gift.

I think I can do that via the transplant centre as I am not allowed to know the donor.

@ Osem I bet Osem Jnr#2 was delighted with his new trampoline.

@ dilli now that's true love.

@ Hugh you must be so proud of your daughter completing the mini-triathlon and raising over £1000 for charity by doing it. I think that's brilliant.

I really couldn't have put my feelings on all the above in a better way.

So can I just add a +1 to weenies post.

Just fixed the new antenna up in the loft, only roughly pointed and the TV shows 80% signal. Not bad for a first try. :)

Well Done Heero ;)

Well now I've routed the cables round I had to add some extra cable and the signal's dropped a bit on some of the multiplexes. Guess I'll need to throw an amplifier at it in a strategic point.

I had to do that on my loft aerial. I found when the weather was good my signal was fine but it went downhill in poor conditions.

I'd love to donate organs, but doubt that due to diabetes I would be allowed to donate.

Yesterday was quite emotional for our family as it was 33 years since HMS Sheffield got hit by a Exocet air-launched anti-ship missile and my Dad was on there but thankfully despite his bad injuries and burns he recovered and praise be to god he is still with us today and is coming up to retirement later this year so hopefully we still will have many many more years to share with him as he is the best Dad you could hope for.

Yes that is VMs current top level, they always give you more than advertised to allow for overheads I think?
