Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
As more and more live sporting events are cancelled due to the spread of coronavirus what is the right thing for Sky Sports, BT Sports and Premier Sports to do? Should all sports channels become free to air for everyone until further notice?
Admittedly this is by far the least important thing to worry about at the moment however surely people shouldn't be charged for services that are not delivering the relevant content? By all accounts we are heading into a period of financial uncertainty. Surely Sky, BT and Premier Sports should stop taking subscription fees? At least scrap 30 days cancellation notice to allow people to cancel straight away if they wish |

All football matches have been suspended until at least 3rd April. I just can't see Sky nor BT suspending subs for sports channels though but I do think it would be the right thing to do.

It gets tricky depending on your deal. Now TV were selling 9 month premiership season passes in August last year. If the season is over surely they can claim some money back? Alternatively if the season is extended by a month will customers get the extra month free? It's totally unprecedented. It's not Sky or BTs fault but at the same time it's not the customer's fault either. Something will need to be decided as people can't be expected to pay for a service that fails to deliver it's main selling point, live sport. |
