No Paces or Samsungs will have 1.5Mb yet, incidentally.

So, NTL may have only partially upgraded your area, and also if you are on a 1Mb connection through your STB you may have to wait until NTL have finished upgrading those.

Hooray I've been upgraded from 600K to 750K. Just checked Robin Walkers site. The 4 numbers ranged from 737 to 763. Noticed the speed of going on most websites is a little bit quicker. As also watching videos.

Bizbo, i know of at least 10 people in the Rugeley area who have been upgraded, including the pear tree/springfields and breaton area. That includes all 3 tiers but SACM's only. I dont know anybody who as a STB modem. Also whilst my surfboard modem auto rebooted and got the speed upgrade, my brothers who have an ntl home modem had to power cycle theres to recieve it.

wooo hey hello and nice

Yo all

Long time no see - been all over the place.

Anyway I was really not aware of the speed increase for the 1Mbit service ...

So ..

1st 128K took 718 ms = 182552 Bytes/sec = approx 1519 kbits/sec
2nd 128K took 704 ms = 186182 Bytes/sec = approx 1549 kbits/sec
3rd 128K took 718 ms = 182552 Bytes/sec = approx 1519 kbits/sec
4th 128K took 703 ms = 186447 Bytes/sec = approx 1551 kbits/sec

Thats more like it .... well pleased ;)

Happy weekend people !

Re: [Merged] BB Speed Upgrades

OK, compared to others, I seem to be having real problems. I'm in Glasgow, and have the mid-speed broadband service, which presumably should be about 700K. The results that I get from the speed test are:

Fri, 6 Aug 2004 19:10:40 UTC
1st 128K took 8532 ms = 15362 Bytes/sec = approx 128 kbits/sec
2nd 128K took 8793 ms = 14906 Bytes/sec = approx 124 kbits/sec
3rd 128K took 8602 ms = 15237 Bytes/sec = approx 127 kbits/sec
4th 128K took 11076 ms = 11834 Bytes/sec = approx 98 kbits/sec

This seems a bit slow, doesn't it? I am NOT particularly technically minded  , but I can usually follow simple instructions with breaking too much. Can anyone suggest anything that might help me to speed things up?

Re: [Merged] BB Speed Upgrades

You not running anything like p2p torrents or any fileshare program or MSN sending programs/pictures etc, anything running could lag ur connection right down and make it run much slower.

Sometimes even firewalls can knock a little bit off, one way to check ur on 750k is to click

http://192.168.100.1/

type in

username : root

password : root

and click on OPERATIONAL CONFIGURATION then check your upstream downstream.

This should show around 750000bps down and around 128000bbs up or something close into them figures if i am correct there

Hope that Helps a good speed test is here

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d...speedtest.html

Good luck :D
