One thing you might want to watch out with antibiotics (Especially strong ones) is that they can cause stomach upsets.

Glad your wee one is on the mend Osem. I can understand your sleepless night and the worry you experienced last night. Good luck for today.

Indeed but eating something small before you take them helps plus its important to drink plenty of fluids as well while on a course of antibiotics.

In the end we went to the UTC this afternoon and after seeing a nurse and GP, were referred to A&E where he had XRays and blood tests. It turns out he has an infection and we've been given antibiotics but I just had to say how good the staff were, given his various problems. He was understandably stressed and confused by events.

The last doctor we saw was Spanish and she was totally brilliant with him. I even asked if she'd had with special needs experience as she was so good with him and that's been unusual since he left the paediatric system. I'll be writing to the trust next week to compliment her approach. It makes so much difference when you're dealing with people who have a natural empathy and she is a terrific asset.

glad you got a good result :)

Yes, it is a shame we only get to hear about the bad doctors and nurses. Shame hardly anyone praises the ones who do their jobs and do them bloody well.

Oh, and hope the infection clears up soon.

very true I've been in over four weeks now and only ever had one complaint about a doctor (junior registrar) I didny say anything but Natalie complIned to my consultant about the way he spoke to us and we never saw him on the ward again.

Other than that one time everyone else has been brilliant, everyone from cleaning staff / tea makers all the way up. I could even crack a joke with my sugrgeon :)

Yesterday I lost a £20.00 note and just now when I was doing the housework I pulled the bread bin back to clean the worktop and there it was :)

Love it when that happens. Just thought I'd lost my phone at the hospital this morning but just found it down the side of my chair which is why I couldn't hear it ringing.

Yes, we're on to that prospect - given his normal 'constitution' things could get very messy... :erm: :)

Well they managed to squeeze him in for a DVT Ultrasound and the report came back to say there was no evidence of anything. Due to him being anxious they were unable to scan a couple of minor blood vessels on his lower leg but they got all the main ones so fingers crossed it's just an infection.
He's certainly more his normal self and is in school, albeit hobbling, as I write.
Thanks for all the kinds words. :tu:

Excellent news dilli. Now try not to flirt with the nurses too much otherwise the BP will be up and they will keep you in. Bet you are looking forward to sleeping in your own bed again.

Great news dilli. Is anyone taking bets on how long it will be before your four legged family forgive you for being AWOL? :D

While I wouldn't post it I just saw a photo of my wound and it looks very good and healing up considering what I had done,

The Body is a wondrous thing. I know intellectually how most of it works but when I see how things knit back together, how great gashes in skin heal then it still never fails to amaze me.

On a serious note, please reconsider and post a photo. You can always photoshop any manly bits and bobs that you don't want us to see.
