Yup, and that's been had over pay TV too.

But what I mean specifically is the pitch of streaming was that it's not the pay TV model - no ads was part of the reason it became popular.

They are simply giving viewers a choice to pay less and see ads. If you don’t want to see the ads, just keep paying the premium rate.

The linear channels do not give you such a choice.

That’s not a choice though, is it? That is compulsion. Pay up, or else.

As i've already said the £6.99p/m pack which includes Eurosport will not have ads, i'd imagine most on discovery+ will likely have the Eurosport package.
Netflix are getting ready to test a ad tier too, Amazon prime have one via IMDB.

Except that's available even if you don't subscribe to Prime, so it's clearer why ads are there.

People would be better off paying £30 for the year before their current offer expires.

Or they are simply struggling for subscriber numbers.;)

I wish Virgin would get their finger out and get the AppleTV+ app, I've got three months free for AppleTV+ due to a purchase I made.

Don't you have an Amazon Fire Stick 4K or similar device like most people? It's really awesome especially at £25 Black Friday deal and the fact you can side load onto it.

Possibly, but not necessarily. Not everyone can afford premium prices, or even reduced prices. Surely, it makes sense to top up your audience with an subscription free with ads and/or reduced cost option with reduced ads. Whether the streamer is successful and profitable or not, having additional options to attract the maximum audience makes perfect business sense.

Well, as we've not even got Disney+ yet, I wouldn't hold your breath.

So much for Virgin's 'super-aggregator' ambitions. It's a joke.

How long have you got to activate it? If it's an Apple device you got it from I think it's around about 3 months.

The only stick I've got is the Now TV one.

I've got about three weeks yet to activate it, I might not find AppleTV+ any good, I'll maybe activate it on my phone and have a look there.
