Now it is February 2016

But one suspects that will be changed soon if the past is anything to go by..

Just to put a spanner in the works.

I was in the VM shop in Reading today and they 100Mbs will increase to 120Mbs not 152Mbs as 152Mbs no longer exists.

Either they have the wrong info or VM have changed the goal posts.

I think it is cases of the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing!

Re: Virgin Media 70, 150 & 200 Mb Upgrades

They were wrong.

100Mbit sold before 24th November 2015 goes to 150Mbit. And the older 152Mb (which ceased to be sold on 1st October 2015) goes to 200Mbit

100Mbit sold after 24th November 2015 doesn't qualify for an upgrade.

Thanks for clarifying it Ben.

Surely that is wrong as the tiers will be 70,150 and 200mbit or have i missed something? Why doesn't it qualify if that tier won't exist?

Re: Virgin Media 70, 150 & 200 Mb Upgrades

The tiers sold since the 24th November 2015 to new broadband customers are SuperFibre 50, VIVID 100 and VIVID 200. None of these include a further speed boost. These tiers are also the ones that are available to any existing customer making a change to their core bundle.

SuperFibre 70 and VIVID 150 are speed boost tiers only for customers who took out either 50Mbit or 100Mbit before the 24th November 2015, who remain on those tiers and haven't made any other changes to their core bundle.

Will all the tiers eventually be 70,150 and 200 as it seems strange having different tiers?

Not as part of this set of speed boost changes. What plans there may be for any further changes I'm not party to.

Correct.

Thanks, i have a feeling Virgin are going to have issues with current customers on higher speeds than what is currently being sold, really surprised they did it, but i guess the network wasn't ready.

They told me that the VIP sim had absolutely no throttling or limit on it. It was on a 30 day contract. She was shocked when I threw it back at her after leaving due to being hit with a 3GB monthly cap and then 56kbps after that.

Speed upgrade is finally ready here. Bit of a moot point as now on a 100Mb with a new contract.

Have had a change of WAN IP earlier. Possibly moved to a new CMTS? Connection tab still says that we are on Telf11. I thought WAN IP addresses, whilst not being static, are unlikely to change often with VM?

OK, VM are starting to get on my wick!!!

Your speed upgrade will be ready to take your connection from up to 152Mbps to up to 200Mbps. It's all thanks to DOCSIS® 3 - the magic in our cables.

Look out for it between January 2017 and June 2017.
Considering I was originally told to expect the upgrade early 2016 I think their magic cables need a kick up the backside.

Just what are you going to do with that extra 48Mbps that you can't do now?

You could always go elsewhere, but you'll be waiting even longer for 200Mbit+
