She is the reason it will cost me. Any one for some horse steak :D

Just booked Le shuttle £364.25p on its own ( caused by taking the dog :sulk:) Normally we fly. Glad we are staying with friends. Taking the wife's tank for the space in the back. That wont be cheap either. Yes she(The dog) is all papered up. Wondering about changing cars once across to get left hand drive & french number plate. Driving in Paris

I went for my medication review at the GP's this morning - I got one of my pills taken off down to 15 a day :)

Then he told me I need two new ones - so it's up to 17 and 5 injections a day.

On the plus side my blood pressure was normal which was great :)

That is some amount of pills. How do you manage to remember? ;)

My happy thought. We had a great time at a concert in Liverpool on Tuesday night. Great singer Dale Watson from Texas. WE stayed at a Premier Inn & came home Wednesday. Brilliant.

Anyway our happy thought of the day came yesterday when Osem snr. managed to get his first match report published on an internet site. Entirely by his own efforts, the lad's made good contacts with our local 'Conference League' team for whom he writes regularly in the match programme. More recently he's got the attention of the website owners and represented the site at the match earlier in the week. Evidently, he sat in the press box and wrote his notes then came home and worked on it until midnight before emailing his final report. I must say what I read was much better than I'd thought it'd be. There were one or two things I'd have changed of course and a couple of minor mistakes but, all in all, it was very good. He even tells me some live commentary work may be coming his way soon! So it looks like we now have a budding karate club sensei and sports journalist on our hands. Who'd have thought?... :)

That's some good stuff :)

Not sure if this is the right thread, but it's the nearest to how I feel - not happy, but proud of, and humbled by, those who sacrificed themselves for others.

Went to the 9/11 Memorial site this morning - really amazing what they have done there.

Very moving and so emotional - I cannot even begin to describe how I felt reading the names of those who died, especially the First Responders, who ran in when most others were running out.

This must be really emotional. I remember when we went there a good few years ago. We went into the chuch nearby & there was a 10 minute service which was very emotional. We were all given a small prayer that I keep in my purse. Going to work & not coming home that day was just unbearable for people.

Just got out of NY before it shuts down for the blizzard/storm - we will be driving down from NJ to Pennsylvania (around 100 miles) just ahead of the snow (hopefully). There is around two inches of snow in Summit, but the roads are clear.

Setting off in in around half an hour.

Just contact your local political party and tell them you want to join their party as l am sure you will be welcomed with open arms as all political parties are looking for new members.

HHHmmm - Well another day in hospital is ensuing. My feet are not in a cast so that's good.

Kidneys are still buggered which isn't so good :(

I also had the post just before I left and it seems that I don't' have to worry about the switch to PiP 'till 2015 which is a little less to worry about.

Still with the govt the way it is they may well change their mind on the time frame.

Sorry to hear your kidneys aren't good. I just had the results back from a urine sample and it came back clear which isn't good, so I'm gutted by it.

Was the letter from the DWP or from some other organisation? Good to have a bit more breathing space ain't it.

I have Polycystic Kidney Disease (and liver) - PKD/PLD. I've been getting over a chest infection that then turned into a kidney infection / UTI.

At the same time I started to pee a lot of blood with a lot of pain in the kidney area, which I hoped was caused by the UTI but it turns out the urine sample came back clear.

So basically from the results from an ultrasound scan my kidneys are now at a hemorrhagic stage meaning the cysts are now getting a bit too big which can burst, leak (causing bleeds) or expand further causing more pain but ultimately will end up as end stage renal failure as the cysts will overtake the healthy tissue of the kidney. (This is a hereditary disorder).

I hoped the bleeding was caused by the infection, so a clear result means it's worse news than expected. An infection can be cleared with antibiotics etc but PKD there is no cure so I know now the PKD is progressing. They are causing more pain than ever now so now I don't know where I stand. As long as whatever is left of the functioning (parts of) kidneys are working, then tests would come back clear till enough is enough and they then cease to function.

A few pics from google images here for a better example of what PKD is. (a warning though as it ain't pretty).

Saying that, my Crohn's Disease and Tinnitus by far has a bigger impact on my life. (For the time being). Also if anyone needs any advice about anything mentioned (Crohn's especially, then please feel free to ask).

You should try eating jacket potatoes, skin as well. It works wonders with crohns.

It might for some, but with strictures I can't tolerate the roughage. I have to avoid fibre as much as possible. I used to love jacket spuds, they were on my safe list till things started to get worse. If I ate them now I'd be in agony for a day or two.

There's no 2 people the same with Crohn's, so dietry advice tends to go out of the window, what works for one will be a nightmare for another. I've seen countless dieticians and they all give up and just either give you build up drinks or put you on elemental diets. That is pretty much standard for everyone with crohn's. They will of course try to narrow down the foods you need to avoid, but that is such a difficult task as Crohn's can and often evolve.

Angua 13-02-2013 16:07

Always makes me smile it's just so good. He's well chained down.

This reminds me of the metal sculptures that i used to pass near Cambridge.

Osem Jnr, has just had his first article published one of the major local papers. A good read it is too, especially if you like football. :)

What game did he cover? Was it a match report, opinion piece, or new story? Most importantly, if it was about Arsenal did he rightly praise them or shamefully slag them off?

That's great news and you should be rightly proud of him.

@ Daniel - it was a match report regarding our local conference league team. He also did a live interview with the team manager recently which I heard via the website he also writes for. He's a sad Man Utd fan so probably won't give the likes of Arsenal much praise. ;)

@ Den - Thanks yes we are. Just hoping all this stuff doesn't affect his A levels... :erm:

Good news Maggy. I remember how frustrated you used to get. Although a necessity at times, life is too short to spend time doing something that does not bring you the satisfaction of a job well done. <<hugs>>
