Now now Jo, you're spoiling him. :D

My happy is that I'm going to spend a little money and freshen up the PC: Going to max out the RAM, change the main drive to SSD and add a big second drive for data storage. Started downloading some 1080p films and the existing 200G drive suddenly feels very small now.

Mine is I sold my 360 xBox for £100 an hour ago. Nice chunk of the xBox One paid off already.

My Times subscription had crept up from the ~£10/m I paid when I joined back in 2012 to £26/m!! Phoned to cancel but now have ended up with a £8/m package that only meant dropping mpbile app access. Sweet.

Good deal - I have the same problem, but I mostly read it on my iPad, so that deal wouldn't be any good to me....

It certainly pays to barter and l don't know why more don't do it.

Probably because it is the old British thing: never complain and never explain. Personally, I find if you ask nicely to see what can be done you get a lot more help than those who call and demand stuff. Damien is a good example, he called to cancel and without any prompting they offered him a good deal. But I bet if he had gone through and demanded that they cut the price whilst not cutting any of the access they would have told him to take a hike.

Same with Virgin, cut down a lot of stuff the other day as £98 was a bit steep and ended up with a price of just over £77 a month by dropping services that are never used. Apart from SKY 1 and FOX in HD don't watch any of the channels in XL package. Movies went as well, watched 1 since Christmas so wasn't worth the money. And went from Talk Unlimited to Evening and Weekends. Quite happy.

They originally offered to give a discount on my existing subscription bringing it down to £18/19 a month so might be worth a try.

So happy my mum is safe after her vanishing act yesterday. So worried at the time but so relieved now.

Went out for a walk around 2pm and we found her about 10.45pm! Had walked from Rutherglen to goodness knows where and found walking about Baillieston.

She has severe Alzheimer's, normally she is ok walking on her own, but this is now the second time in weeks so supervised walks only from now on as well as a gps tracker.

Glad she's safe

Have you thought about a GPS tag device so she can be found quicker.

Some argue about privacy issue but they can do one.

Dodged a bullet on my Focus yesterday/today.

Noticed yesterday morning on the way to work that the heating in the car wasn't working (only cold air coming out of the vents, but no warning lights showing).

Popped the bonnet before setting off home, and found that there was no coolant fluid in the collar overflow rank - sub-optimal.....

Managed to take the car to the local Ford Garage (where we bought it from just under two years ago), and they took it in to check it today. It turned out one of the hoses had become brittle and split, and leaked the coolant fluid.

The garage said lucky that I had taken it in, as there was no damage to the engine (1.0l Ecoboost), but if it had been run much more without the coolant, a replacement engine would have been required.

Broken hose replacement free under warranty vs new replacement engine at three thousand pounds - phew.......

That is a lucky escape. My Nan was worried, thinking she would need to ask my mum to help buy a new car because even though she had the part replaced that needed replacing (the catalytic converter bit had cracked and needed replacing) there was still a humming noise. Mentioned at her MOT in January and mechanic said oh that's a wheel bearing. Replaced that day. She was so relieved.
