Good luck den.

Panic attacks suck. Had one last night at work, not helped by the fact I caught someone talking about me behind my back. I reported them to their line manager, as I was working in a different department to usual last night. Making me not want to work today though.

Approach a trusted friend and ask if they’ve heard any rumors and remember if this person tells you that others have been talking about you please do not say what this person has told you no matter how angry or tempted you may be you can't break that confidence on what has been said to you.

In regards to the person who has talked behind your back Mark you could always say to other workmates that it really doesn’t bother you that this person has talked about you behind your back as they do it with everyone and once you got to know just how two faced they were you decided to be polite to them but for now on you're keeping all INTERACTIONS on a work related basis end off.

This way it will make others wonder what is getting said about them as through my life I have learned if someone gossips about you then it's a fair bet they will also say negative stuff about other people.

Trust me these people really aren't worth bothering about imho:hugs:

Companies that have no intention of refunding money in a timely manner even though the order was cancelled the following morning and hadn't been dispatched. Looks like they're going to use the full 'within 30 days' required by law.

Building society suddenly returned money paid monthly to them when the new year (1 May) started. Turns out they claim its government policy so you have the opportunity to change where you get your ISA from. Wasted two visits to the society before we got a sensible answer.

Dad has lost more weight he is now only 9 and half stone not good when your 6 feet 2.
At least he seems more happier at being in a side room.

It's heartbreaking seeing how much he has declined within a matter of weeks. He is very weak and is sleeping a lot atm :(

Sister not helping with the situation at all as it is my understanding she is complaining about stuff and I must say I think he is getting great care and the hospital is immaculate and all the staff on the ward are amazing imho.

Why she needs to act like this is beyond me, although my Dad thinks it's wonderful and personally I find treating and being disrespectful to others utterly disgusting especially when they are doing so much for my Dad

I also had an invite at my local NHS hospital together with a stomach biopsy.
Due to my complex meds which include two tabs which prevent my blood from clotting I declined the invite.
Not only did I advise my GP of my refusal, my heart consultant agreed on my actions and sent off a stern letter to the gastro team.
In the end I had a Barium meal which proved no stomach probs.

The thing is with a Gastroscopy although it can be uncomfortable at times it can also treat any potential condition that is prevalent there and take biopsy's when the procedure is taking place as the GP did mention a Barium meal but felt the Gastroscopy although more uncomfortable was the better option for me.

l am also under a heart consultant but l do not take any clotting drugs currently as my heart condition is Dilated Cardiomyopathy and l also have a implanted ICD as well.

All these fancy names for a 'dicky ticker', with me it's just a case of heart muscle damage with every heart attack I have.
Considering 30+years since a triple heart graft followed by stents galore and five heart attacks, just take each day as it comes!

Absolutely shattered as the hospital phoned me to go up as Dad was getting a bit distressed managed to settle him down he just got himself in a bit of a tiss and would not listen to anyone thankfully I managed to reassure him that no one was putting him a home unless that is what he wanted.

My heart is breaking tonight :( honestly it is smashed to bits.

What we have here as I explained to my hubby and the fantastic nurses is we have a frightened old man who seems to trust no one apart from me for some reason as my sister had tried previously to reassure him but to no avail sadly, credit where credit is due at least my sister went up when the hospital called.

Thanks den I'm currently trying to get to the bottom of why my Dad thinks he is going in a home as the hospital has reassured me that they have never mentioned this to my father and as my sister and I don't talk there is no way I will ever know if she has made a passing comment.

The only thing I can think of is maybe she has said come on Dad let's get you home as you don't want to go into care as some encouragement to get him fighting as I truly believe that even she would not say right Dad if your not careful you could end up in a home.

All I know is he was really quite low and depressed at the thought if not getting home thankfully he now knows or seems to believe us when I say no Dad you will see your house again, honestly it was heartbreaking. He does seem very mistrusting at times.

I think that being in hospital with no control over your what is happening is very frightening at the best of times. Someone who is clinging to his independence, such a your Father, will feel even more worried about his future so, add lots of time to stew on what lays ahead of him, a daughter who doesn't know how to think things through before putting her mouth in gear and it's a recipe for a panic attack.

PM me if you want a good rant sweetie.

Oh dear Mark you sound like my youngest lol he hates being asked to round up the trolleys but as I say to him count to 10 and think of your next pay cheque :)

But you have my sympathy as some of the stories I have heard and experienced in retail is unbelievable at times. As I have also said to my son and the advise that I gave him is this yes I also used to hate it when a customer was rude or said I pay your wages and tbh I used to think to myself and that gives you the excuse to talk to me like something you've stepped on  honestly the secret here is count to 10 then just smile politely and the most important thing is look sincere and not patronising and last but no means least say sorry...customers love that IMO.

So with my health getting worse and my kidney function getting really bad, had been down to 35 which is almost 50% I was sent for a kidney biopsy a couple of weeks ago.

Seemed to go ok however next day I get a sharp shooting pain and went back, after bloods and an ultrasound it was found that I had a small internal bleed and was extremely anemic, bloods were down to 62 and kidney function down to 27.

Was kept in for 3 days and given IV iron and put on iron tablets.

Visit to consultant on Wednesday there conformed decreased kidney function is due to diabetes and as it's dropped so much since September that they want to place me on the transplant list and get one done asap.

Not good at all. Have been totally shattered and out of breath at the smallest amount of exercise or walking short distances.

Shocked and worried but hopefully I'll feel so much better.

Still trying to find a job after being made redundant recently too. But not feeling well enough to attend interviews is a hindrance.

I know exactly what you're going through. Going through it myself but with PKD. Just feel kind of in limbo at the mo. I hope you manage to get things under control.

I tend to pee a lot of blood so have to have my blood checked often. My first iron infusion weren't too bad, but they seem to put them through quicker now and the last one I ended up really ill afterwards.

Yeah it's not good. They are calling it renal failure for now or CKD.

I was getting my bloods every 2 weeks before the biopsy. Lots of protein and blood where it shouldn't be.

I have been to see a Specialist about the constant ringing in my years, He said my right ear is blocked with wax, So I put Olive Oil in it today and the nurse will syringe it the end of the week, At present my ears are worse can hardly hear a thing except buzzing. Driving me nuts, I go back to the specialist in four weeks for a hearing test and a Tinites test. But just feel today I could scream,

I've lived with tinnitus all my life, luckily it is usually bearable but when it does flare up it can be really annoying and can stay like that 24hrs, usually waking up in the morning with normal levels of it again, there is NO cure for tinnitus i am afraid.

I have suffered tinnitus for 30 years. Nothing helps except for blasting the same sound through headphones for a few seconds. A few hours' respite then.

I used this software to make a copy of what my Tinnitus sounds like, then copied it to an old MP3 player.

I tend to use pink noise to block mine out for a bit (white noise tends to make mine worse so does anything high pitch). But the key is to find out the triggers. For me smoking was the thing that made it a lot worse, then caffeine, loud noises/music, stress, and high blood pressure. Been coping for best part of 10-15 years now, some days can be bad where I have to be slightly sedated and some days you just forget it is there.

Yours sounds really bad, eating the wrong food triggers mine to get worse, I have loud noise at work, luckily that doesnt make it worse than normal levels.

It's a shame there is no operation to fix it, what I understand is the brain causes it when it tries to correct the hearing so there is no tissue to operate on, it would be nice to be able to pop a pill to turn it off though!

This should be a happy thought but it's not my Dad is getting out of hospital on Friday so why is this on this page well I'm left to do it all again food shopping, waiting in for Dad getting home, buying the nurses gifts etc why because that waste of skin of a sister is away this week and tbh it really does not surprise me in the slightest.

Trouble is that I'm close to running on empty, I hate yes hate the situation I'm constantly put in....not looking for any praise but a thank you would be nice or can you do this but no it's just expected.

I walked out of the hospital last night as when visiting my Dad my sister called our Dad and I just thought it was so very ignorant not that he took the call but the fact that 10 minutes later he was still talking so I just said bye Dad then when I got to the car I put my phone off so he could not call me as I was fizzing mad tbh.

Hubby could tell something was wrong and when I told him he thought this was the most ignorant thing that anyone could do when someone has driven 25 minutes to visit them in hospital is to take and continue a call.

I admit I'm battling with some very negative thoughts atm I really do think it is possible to hate and love at the same time :(

We are great fans of washing detergent sheets produced by Dizolve. Sadly no longer distributed in the UK, and even their distributor has vanished.

Mark have you thought about (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) it is extremely good for panic attacks. Also when you feel one coming on you could try and find a quiet place even the works bathroom and try doing this close your eyes and take deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth this technique can also works at the start of one.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can either be arranged through your GP or by going private. I swear by this as it certainly changed my life in regards to how I act in situations that before would have me a complete nervous wreck and in a full blown panic mode at the situation I found myself in.

Watching Gogglebox and they've given away major spoilers for the end of GoT.

Bering in mind I'm waiting for the 8 series box set so i can start to watch it for the first time

We're trying to avoid the spoilers as well as we've not watched season 7 yet. Season 8 is sitting on the media server for later.

Well I have an addiction when it comes to Blu-Rays & DVDs.

I have a small collection of 1,002 titles.

Which if I started on 00:00am on Jan 1st I would still be watching on July 17th and that is 24/7.

I know someone who collected DVDs right from the start. What a waste, as all media has a small lifespan. There should be a way to trade in a DVD version of a film for a bluray for just a small charge.

Being spoken to like a child honestly some people just seen to not realise just how condescending they sound anyway I think I may just have set new boundaries as yesterday I really made it clear that the line you don't cross with me is you do not involve my children in this situation.

This has went on for years and I end it with me not passing the baton to my kids...

To be fair on the weekends when people are not working they will do things like this, i know if my garden needed doing it would have to get done at a weekend when it isn't raining.

What really pisses me off though is people that light bonfires.

Or people that think you want to hear their music when you are sitting out in the sunshine. Love music but always stick in earphones when I'm out in the back garden, also reduces time I need to spend talking to neighbours or wife :D

They dont train these scammers very well. I just had one phoning up saying there is a problem my computer. He then asked me what was on the monitor and I said there was an owl, at which point he rang off! OK so it wasn't an owl, it was actually three cats.

On reflection perhaps they are training them better

If you Google the number that will usually show it on a telepest list and the likely caller.

Caller ID is a godsend here.

My car was rear-ended today when I was waiting to join a roundabout. :geez:

Boot door is dented and a small crack on the bumper. Not too bad all considered. The driver of the other car handled it well.

One question I have is that next week my insurance policy chances to a new provider. I have already paid for that insurance and given my details including a 7 year no claims. Do I lose all that now and have to pay more? Obviously the claim goes though my current insurer and I am 90% sure it will be a no-fault on my side.

If it was protected you wont lose it but it can still affect the policy premium I think, you need to tell your new insurer asap before it starts.

I've phoned my insurer and they'll hold the other party responsible.

However the van that went into me was a commerical one from a large reputable company and they gave me a form that allows me to claim via their insurance directly, they'll handle everything too.

Any advice on if I should go though my insurer or should I use theirs? They'll be 'responsible' either way and my no claims is fine.

Contact your insurer, let them know that they have given you this form, and ask what they (your insurer) want you to do.

I did and they said it's up to me. That I'll have less room for complaint if I am not happy with their insurer but that it won't impact my premium.

Yesterday at the hospital with Dad his consultant asked if he was getting any benefits and Dad said his old age pension and with past experience I just thought oh no and my fear was justified she then said that she would be filling out a DS1500 form for him to get attendance allowance and this will be fast tracked.

The good news is that my Dad seems none the wiser as what this form actually means but sadly I know what the criteria is for someone to need the DS1500 form :( but what really matters now is my Dad as I feel this is my only chance to truly move on from the past and I'm taking it, life really is too short to hold grudges with the ones we love.

Although I admit my emotions and thoughts are all over the place atm.

On it, and Damien I've just PM'd you. I'm a Paralegal for RTA, Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence cases now. Happy to give any forum members non-committal advice on such matters but am not touting for business.

My advice in these cases would always always always be to avoid leaving the other side insurer to handle it.

My knee has been giving me grief on and off over the last couple of years. I wrecked it about thirty years ago skiing and it took a month or so to recover. It comes back to visit me every now and then. :(

I'm using some 5% Ibuprofen gel and that seems to help make it bearable. Last thing I really want is to have it operated on or a big needle stuck in there. :erm:

Yes mine does occasionally, the crank of a wind up cement mixer came out and walloped me right on the knee, every couple of years since when I fall or nearly fall over I'm reminded to be more careful

PC stopped working yesterday (6 years old).

Took it to a shop, and they’ve just got back to me - the motherboard (ASUS P8Z77-V) is fried, and they can’t source a replacement (i’ve looked as well, and can find one, but it’s second-hand, and £140).

If I get a new (modern) motherboard, I’ll need to upgrade the CPU and memory - may as well get a new PC, and then put the old 2TB Drive with all my data in to the new one...

They’ll give me a price for an upgrade, then I’ll do a comparison (I was going to get a new Graphics Card next month, so I’ll factor that in as well).

We're going to lose our weekly wheelie bin trash collections from the Autumn. It's going to alternate with the recycling that is currently fortnightly.

Not an issue for us as we only generate a small swing-bin liner full a week but some bins round here are already overflowing. Fortnightly and that'll twice as bad and what if they miss putting the bin out? Could be a months worth.

Might need a padlock on our trash bin to stop neighbours using it. :D

It's been like that since we got the bins donkeys years ago here.

We have 3 bins, Black(general waste) 1 week, and Blue(recycle) and Green(garden and food waste) the next etc.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

We've been lucky until now, at least the local (Worthing) council and neighbouring Adur have been pooling their resources and back office functions for some time to help maintain services and minimise tax increases despite cuts in central government grant.

We have a general trash Wheelie bin and a recycling one that can take almost anything even including black plastic trays. The sorting station has special equipment to detect these trays in place.

We live about a mile from the local dump and recycle station so our garden stuff goes there when the composters are full. They do do a paper bag (chargeable) service for garden waste that is picked up with the general trash or you can have a (green) wheelie bin for a small charge.

Of course that was well before the substantial rise in the amount of ridiculous, and often unnecessary, packaging that we see today.

All i remember is putting black bags out, then they gave us 2 wheelie bins and a green box then a few years later changed it to a green bin, and it is great and the schedule is adequate for this household.

Yeah, for the amount of 'rubbish' we now dispose of, the bin collections are adequate.

We now have a Grey bin (general waste), Red bin (plastic/cardboard), Brown bin (garden waste) and a small blue basket affair for glass.

All are emptied fortnightly. . . . eventually :D

Blue bag for house hold waste, Black box for paper and plastics. Grey container for food waste.

Glass has to be taken to a bottle bank.

So if you had garden waste you would have to take it to the tip yourself?

I thought that too, then remembered that quite a few people in densely populated areas don't even have a garden

. . . or anywhere to keep a proper bin

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

I live in Trafford, Gtr Manchester and our council is ranked as one of the top 10 places in the country with recycling and composting rates at 59%

We have a green bin that takes all our garden and food waste and this is emptied every week. A half size grey bin that holds all the unrecyclable household waste and this is emptied once a fortnight. We then have a blue bin for glass and recyclable plastics and a black bin for all the paper and cardboard and these are emptied once every 4 weeks.

Sounds a lot more complicated than it is in practice.

The only real bugbear is the space the bins take up if you don't have much space.
