As far as I know, the 'We know who we are' chant came about after we won the European cup with "Champions of Europe" at the end. Don't remember it being sung before then. Terry and Mikel got fined. by the club and FA, and banned as well. Nothing happened to Ramires. So. drunk drivers hold the moral high ground then?

ah I'm sorry that was me responding to 'we know who we are?' RACISTS :D

Oh did they, ok, I don't recall that only the FA stuff. May be Ramires should have been given English lessons?

I didn't say that did I. I wasn't around, well not fully aware to say the least so i cannot comment on Tony Adams. Drink driving though on the whole is unacceptable. In my opinion there is no acceptable limit. No one should drink drive end of.

Like I said, I don't remember it being sung until after the Champions league final. I'm sure it came about as a response to the "You know what you are" stick to Terry. In future can you not edit your post until I've finished replying :)

I'm not patronising anyone. Try again Damien. You seem to think it was all done correctly and I'm saying it wasn't. It wasn't just me calling them incompetent neither so step back and think about it, why would there be an uproar for nothing? The Suarez saga dragged on far too long, I'll give the club the benefit of the doubt and say the media did drag it out may be a week or two longer than it really did but even then you have you ask yourself what the bloody hell were they doing in between. Cavani moved to PSG late on. Cavani moving was expected to happen as soon as the window opened, infact before the window opened. Chelsea wanted him but couldn't afford it  imagine that, Arsenal could afford to buy Cavani but Chelsea couldn't!! Juventus couldn't afford to pay Real Madrid 25m£cash for Higuain and Arsenal could!

Its incompetence or fraud.

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

I make several points:
Firstly, For former managers and players, and fans to say that Pardew should be sacked for the 'so called headbutt' is out of order

I have seen the tv footage, and to me its just a clash of heads where he has gone in and under a fit of anger 'it looks like a butt' and that Newcastle have fined him £100.000 for it. BUT maybe the football authorities should crack down on some really nasty tackles and also headbutts.

Charlie Adams is one of the worst offenders of these 'crimes' on the field.

I also believe that Daniel Levy will remove Sherwood from managerial duties and move the Dutch manager in - thats why Sherwood was on a short contract.

Woooo!

Also means Rosicky should be the first Arsenal player since Bergkamp(!) to get a testimonial. Mertesacker will likely be captain next year too.

Also Ramsey will sign a new 5 year contract: http://www.theguardian.com/football/...senal-contract

On the whole most managers are sacked far too quickly and replaced by people who are no better then they are and in many cases are even worse then the ex managers who they are replacing.

I do like it. I would say you need to put a UEFA/FIFA rule that a manager can only hold one registration per season (i.e can only manage one club that season). So it allows a manager to be fired but makes it more difficult for one to be hired from elsewhere until the season is over unless you appoint a caretaker. This would allow clubs to address a serious situation but somewhat limit the merry-go-around. Additionally managers must be compensated for at least the entire reason irrespective of their contract.

I would also close the winter transfer window. The manger and team you enter a season with should be the one with which you finish with.

MalteseFalcon 04-03-2014 20:07

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

Agree about the manager, but with players it should be allowed in certain circumstances. For instance, your 25 man squad submitted in the Summer has a few injuries to it ruling, for arguments sake, 5 players out of the squad for the rest of the season. If you only have 2 or 3 players to submit instead of those injured and none of the Under 21's are ready to play for the first team, would it not make sense to allow that team to sign players to replace those injured?

So what happens if we have another Keegan in charge of England who decides he can't cope half way through qualifying, England don't have a manager without screwing another club over.

What about the small clubs that sell to survive and big south American clubs that sell to pay wages, seems to me you have thought about what would suit your favourite club and stuff everyone else.

England would be free to pick from one of the unemployed managers or will have to wait until the end of the season. They would still screw over another club if they poach their manager.

They can sell at the end of the season or they can sell now but the licence won't transfer until the end of the season. All I am suggesting is that we extend the current ban on transfer windows throughout the season rather than have a opening in the middle stopping the mad rush in January for players.

Tend to agree with the daddy.

Often suggestions on here are biased to what suits there own club.

Pre-ferguson, Man utd supporters decried changing a manager, and look how well ferguson turn out. Then they get Moyes, and it is "get rid of him".

I take the view, let clubs do what they want, I rarely hear about a poor manager, and some seem to make changing their job as a career.

That won't do for me and the vast majority of England supporters, taking an unemployed manager rather than the best man for the job & failing to qualify for major tournaments and fans of clubs having to endure relegation and the likes of glen roader and Avram grant longer than necessary. For me it's such a bad idea it could have come straight from sepp Blatter.

What you're suggesting is players waiting many months for pay instead of just months as happens now in south America, players who can't get in teams wasting their careers waiting for moves and smaller clubs in this country possibly going bust because they can't sell players. It's not broke, why attempt to fix it.

A more balanced way would be to adjust the rule slightly so that you can only change club once per season.

They'll have a choice of both internal candidates or managers that have yet to change to a FIFA registered club in that season. If you take a employed manager then you're screwing over the club they were a manager off and the whole thing cycles round.

I have just watched a game of which l am appalled by officials and the cheating of players - and thats not because of Chelsea's win.

Spurs just fell apart and made some terrible mistakes, and the game turned by the appalling dive of Eto, and the referee gave a penalty - terrible decision.

Even the Sky commentator, said it wasn't a penalty AND a friend of ours WHO is Chelsea fan was inside the ground. Said it wasn't a penalty.

The game was turned by that, there were some incidents in the game that you had to laugh at at with the poor officials, A Spurs player gets smacked in the mouth by a Chelsea boot. Some of the tackles for Chelsea were bad.

Its about time officials done there job properly. The three other goals were scored by stupid and patheitc defending by us. But, some Chelsea players wnt farcically down injured and if they got the free kick would get up. If they didn't they stayed down.

Strong post match from Sherwood. No doubt there will be more to come from the 'pressers'. Clown

So much for me predicting Spurs may still have a chance of getting top 4. With that clown of a manager in charge they have no chance and never will

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

Making Sherwood manager was a bad mistake in my humble opinion as he has no managerial experience at all and you simply can't in the top division appoint recent ex players on a whim as it simply won't work.

I thought it was more down to the players. 3 mistakes cost goals, and an unfortunate penalty. No manager can stop that happening.

They need a kick up the backside.

I thought he was let go, as he had ambitions to leave tottenham...if he had nipped england rumours in the bud...he would still be there

thenry 09-03-2014 14:29

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

It wasn't just the England stuff. Levy got rid because Harry was getting a bit too big for the club, well thinking he was. Going public on MOTD about player contracts, his contract, signing players and then topping it with 'well Levys got other things to worry about at the moment with the passing of his mother so we'll see' sealed his fate.

Anyway with Louis van Gaal looking likely to arrive he may whip the squad into better shape but the squad does need further investment, investment that may hinder stadium plans. That 100m they threw in the summer then fail to play their record signing is mismanagement.

denphone 09-03-2014 14:43

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

You can spend a fortune as some clubs do and the impact from those signings can be minimal so my advice is for clubs to do their homework before they take the plunge.
