Re: New Speeds - June 1st
Do you think theres any logic in the order NTL are executing the roll outs?
Thats not a trick question by the way, im just curious :-P |
Re: New Speeds - June 1st
When will i get my 10mb ;)
Only kidding as i will probably drop to 4mb when its rolled out.Can no longer justify having 10mb line really,ok from a few sites you get good speeds but the average site only uploads to me at about 600kbps anyway. I can live with 4mb. |
Re: New Speeds - June 1st
Looks like Nottingham might be some time next week then. Shame NTL's online tier migration doesn't work with my Ambit 200!

Re: New Speeds - June 1st
I was told two stories while on the phone the other day (surprise surprise) I was on the phone to retention firstly though so I guess that guy wouldn't be as in the know, he told me I should get 4mb now and he'd send a hit to my box (which promptly knocked off my connection completely)
I then had to call tech support for broadband and set about registering my PC again thanks to that. While talking to him I was told that I'd have 4mb by the end of the month as the work was ongoing throughout June. He made it sound like I'd definitely have to wait until the end of the month for it. I'm getting only 1mb speed today again which is great seeing as I can't even get 2mb speeds. |
Re: New Speeds - June 1st
I think the 4meg upgrade has happened round here as my upto 10 meg service is now offering 2-5meg when prior to this it was 6-8meg.
utter dross and I suspect proves the theory that 20:1 contention is not being maintained. |
Re: New Speeds - June 1st
I can't think of a time when I've ever had speed that resembles 2mb. Of course I'm not going to complain about them upgrading it to 4 for no extra charge but I don't feel I've ever had the benefit of the speeds they advertise.

Re: New Speeds - June 1st
if you assume only 50 4mbit users on a ubr then 20:1 would need 10mbit, thats excluding what you need on top for 1meggers and 10meggers.
worked that out quickly so if I am wrong someone will correct me :) |
Re: New Speeds - June 1st
Saying that now I'm monitoring my speeds and it's flying up and then down, I've had speeds today of more than I should at times here and there. Hmm

Re: New Speeds - June 1st
I'm in Manchester.
It's hard to tell now actually what's happening with speed. I'm a bit unsure. Can anyone tell me the most accurate free speed test to try? I'll post my results once I've done it. |

http://www.broadbandspeedtest.net/ as it checks speeds on a number of servers - the basic tests can be run free of charge once installed :) |
