Sky Sources confirmed that to us tonight saying: "Very Unlikely that Sky Sports Mix will be on Virgin Media in the near future."

So if Sky Sports Mix is set to have an HD Channel on Sky we now feel that Sky Sports F1 and Sky Sports F1 HD will close on all networks for Sky to reuse their EPG Slots on Sky for Sky Sports Mix and Sky Sports Mix HD.

F1 Motor Racing will then move to other Sky Sports Channels.

We saw listing this past weekend for F1 Motor Racing Live on BOTH Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports F1.

I can now see a problem arising from this.

Sky, could move some big games from the PL to Sky Sports Mix. Therefore, those wanting to watch a big game. Can't

And VM now block any streaming of live games.

Why doesn't VM and Sky, just sit round a table and thrash this out.

But, at the end of the day ITS US THAT END UP PAYING FOR IT.

I think the regulators and Premier League would object if this happened but you're right, VM needs to be wary of this.
Not sure if Sky wants to talk really, they want to promote their own platform which is understandable but frustrating at times.

Maybe for all we know Sky will launch Sky Sports Mix along the same lines of BT Sport Showcase re Showing the same thing on two channels.

Sky Sports Mix look like an part time channel.

This will be a simulcast channel similar to BT sports free, I cannot foresee a situation where a fee paying skysports customer cannot see the sport because they moved it exclusively to skysports mix, this channel is a method of enticing new people to the full package

The interesting question would be will it be on nowtv because that would be a game changer; with the envisaged increase in prices, there is not a lot of difference between skysports via VM, sky or nowtv

It's a very good point. With NOWTV launching a new box later in the year, with a freeview tuner built in, SKY Sports Mix would make it even more appealing. A PVR version would have been the icing on the cake however I think the catch up services on NOWTV makes a PVR option less essential, especially if UKTV launches on there soon.

That's a bit of a stretch, to think that some Premier league games would transfer to Sky Sports Mix, which is just a showcase channel.

Sky Sports Mix might duplicate a premier league game but it won't be shown exclusively on that channel.

Sky Sports Mix look like an part time channel.

From the surveys last year the intention is to show around 10 hours a week of live action on the channel. The rest of the time will be padded out with documentaries, archive sports events, highlights of recent events and shows like Soccer AM and The F1 Show. From there I'm sure any additional time will be filled with SKY Sports News.

They've taken the lead from BT Sports Showcase but all signs suggest SKY intend to run SKY Sports Mix as a proper channel fulltime channel. BT Sports Showcase is pretty much an infomercial channel which shows around 4 hours of live action per week, when European football is played. There's been weeks when there's been nothing more on there than their looped promos.

According to Sky "Sky Sports Mix will be available in the same number of Sky TV homes as Sky Sports News HQ, a channel with an annual reach of 17m viewers."
So we don't know if "Sky TV homes" includes Now TV as well. Certainly, Sky Sports News HQ is only available to Now TV subscribers with a sports pass, not with just an entertainment pass.

You get SKY Sports News on NOW TV with any of the passes be it entertainment, movies or SKY Sports. Even a SKY Sports day pass gives you the channel for a month.

That was true a couple of years ago but I believe it now it requires a Sky Sports pass; I've tried it via a free NPower three months' Entertainment offer and it says you need a sports pass to view. There are lots of links to when SSNHQ was available in the other packs but I can't find one when it ended being available in them.
