Quick question before I call retentions to get a Superhub 2 posted, do I get tied to a new contract doing it that way ?

Interesting review. I have definitely hit the full 120meg on wireless with it, though (5Ghz). The speed tests I posted when I first got it were all wireless. I only skimmed their review so I'm not sure of their testing methadology.

I managed to get hit 100Mbit via a speedtest on my Galaxy S4 last night on 5Ghz, and that is a good 10m away from the SH2

And this is a test I've just done on my laptop which is in the same place

I've not yet had the 120Mbit upgrade

I've ridiculed the SH1 in router mode, with good cause.

I cannot do the same for the SH2. It'll have niggles and VM still stubbornly slug its capabilities but it is a reliable beast with almost half decent wireless.

Incidentally, seeing what's in th SH2, they could have made the SH1 out of the same stuff!

Why stop there? Netgears CG4500 is already CableLabs certified (last Dec)for 24x4 DOCSIS3 with Puma6 and MaxLinear MxL267 24-channel DOCSIS 3.0 receiver? In fact it was only because Cable Labs doesn't currently have 24x8 test capability that it was limited to 4 bundled upstreams!
(It's also had it's 802.11n dual band upgraded recently to 802.11ac and re-versioned. ;) )

However, unfortunately that'll be far more than VM can provision for next 5, possibly 10 yrs! :(

Got one coming on Tuesday cost £10 but tied to another 12 months contract but as I'm 1.5 miles from nearest BT exchange it's the best I'll get, but hey ho.

Just read BenMcr's post called retentions again and they've removed the 12 month contract so the wifes happy (she is not a VM fan).
So much happier now:D

I wouldn't go that far, although I don't think Virgin will be doing 24 downstreams any time soon, you never know how the liberty global deal will go. I'd like to think that if I was buying a major company, I'd want to invest to make it profitable rather than just plunging it even more into the ground. Who knows, though.

Well, they could actually invest in the network and then make it more attractive to potential and existing customers, but that's just me.

Quick Question, my father in law was inquiring about upgrading from SH1 to SH2. However, CS told him because he is on 30M he cant as the SH2 is only for 60M and up.... any truth in this?
