Correct, it won't. It's not *every* 20mb connection being upgraded, you need to have it activated. That's going to cost £30 unless you [can] sweet-talk a deal.

I'm trying my best to sweet talk them, but my charm just ain't working today!:) And then there's the tivo to come, which I will get a deal on, more confident on that than this.

Huh?

Not sure why you're directing that at me, did I miss something?

Also, the "try again next Monday" comment seems a little confusing. Are you under the impression that I've called in yesterday and didn't get what I wanted or are you suggesting that I should simply call every Monday trying my luck?

I'm not after a free upgrade, I'm willing to pay the one off £30 but I couldn't afford to remain a customer if I lost my discounts.

Maybe I'll get lucky and everyone else in my area will move to XL30 instead and then I can recieve a decent XL20 service on the old Docsis 1.1-2.0 system.

If you want 50Mb then upgrade!

The reason i wanted 50 Mb is because it's free to upgrade not £40 but after SnoopZ helpful post i phoned back up and the £40 was knocked off so now i have excepted the 50 Mb upgrade.

Result then.

I think its pretty clear that VM are using all their new products and services as means and ways of aligning price plans and removing many of the legacy retentions deals at the same time, hence the resistance to haggling. I would imagine TiVo will have even stricter conditions applied.

I've made multiple posts today as I am in the same situation as you and was just trying to be helpful to you without having to type the whole lot out again, which I'm not going to do.

Normal discounts for bundle deals should still apply. Retention deals will most likely be cancelled and back to bundle deals.

Only way to find out is to ring in.

It won't, not yet anyway. It maybe a month or two before any kind of bulk uplift is done for 20Mb customers with superhubs.

If it ever happens.

Nowhere has it been said that existing customers will get it free.

It has been said that those that can't afford the £30 activation fee can stay on their existing 20Mb service.

Re: 20 Mb/s to 30Mb/s free upgrade

So if you are on 10mb, the upgrade to 30mb is free? Thats what the terms say. Anyone on L upgrading to XL gets a free superhub.

So as I am in the 28 days "trial" period, its time to ring up, downgrade and then upgrade again.

Any customers recently installed to 20Mb with superhubs will not have to pay the £30. Eventually all of them will be moved to 30Mb automatically, again this will be 20Mb customers who already have superhubs

No you still pay the £30 activation fee.

If you're on 10Mb broadband you can upgrade for a one-off payment of £30, there'll also be a price increase to your monthly broadband payment.
