Sky3 and Sky3 +1 will rebrand as Pick TV and Pick TV +1 on the 28th February.

Programming is likely to remain the same as Sky3′s current lineup.

Pick TV, who the fudge came up with that. Wouldn't be surprised to see Sky2 change to Sky1+1 now.

Sky don't want any of their channels to give Freeview any quality programming.

They will just want barker channels that promote Sky

Too true sky 3 *(available on freeview) Has the very old show Luton airport the planes originally used must be almost obselete by now,and the staff shown on the programme must now have thier sons and daughters in the air.

And still they continue showing it,and probably will in ten years time as well, but not in HD LOL.:D:D:D

It does look like Sky wish to use their freeview capacity as either barker channels or to merely restrict other operators from gaining the capacity and enhancing the platform. In fairness though none of the other pay operators really offer much (unencrypted) on freeview either, UKTV aside if it wasn't for the networks and their spinoffs freeview would be pretty sparse on quality, will UKTV's new owners wish to carry on though, who knows.

Pick TV is a strangely similar name to Picnic (their now shelved although mostly OFCOM approved pay DTT service) i'm sure that's a happy coincidence though.

Strange that, are Sky admitting wrestiling is a game putting it on a gameshow channel!!. I doubt wrestling with go down well with an existing Challenge audience, a very odd choice of programming in my eyes.

Is that why VOD is so slow at the moment? It took me ages to get to the letter 'T' tonight and I've noticed it's been very tortoise like for a few weeks now. Very annoying, but happy to put up with it if it's temporary while they work to improve it.

Instead Virgin are rightly waiting for the advertisers to have a go at Sky and force them to make it available to Virgin Media at a much lower cost sot that it can be included in the XL package for example. If you look desperate to get something from Sky they'll fleece you. We'll obviously get it in the end. I for one would be disappointed if our bills had to go up substantially just to please a few people who demand Sky Atlantic now and would probably then never watch it and demand something else we haven't got.

I take your point eugene, but those of us who want the channel should be able to pay the premium price for it if it's worth it. The problem with Sky's exclusive deals is that they not only make the programme exclusive to their channels, they then make their channels exclusive to satellite as well so that no other TV providers get a look in. This should not be permitted and I think the regulators are letting us down.

I know from a presentation I've seen today, that VM are very interested in TV. Things are going to get even better for customers. :)

So we will get Boardwalk Empire and Mad Men, then!

Sorry, but until we have access to the full range of good programmes available I won't be content.;)

:LOL::LOL:

Sorry, I'm cracking up here - it's like 'that time of the month' though with the forum and VM it's more like 'that time of the year.' It's like Jan/Feb every year people get all wound up and have to have a pop at VM for one thing or another - it goes in cycles.

Reading through this thread and the complaints about Sky Atlantic (and discussing calling retentions to find out what deals people might get) is giving me flashbacks to Jan to Mar 2007 when everyone was throwing their dummies out about losing Sky1 in spite of the introduction of the new V+ box being introduced at the time which revolutionised TV watching/recording (IMO).

I think VM has taken HUGE strides over the last 4 years overall in service and what it provides, and especially in the last few months. They eventually got Sky1 back and weren't held hostage to Sky's ridiculous price demands. We now have more HD content has been provided (though I'm hard pressed in general to see a huge difference between the HD channels and the upscaled regular channels even on a top of the range TV). The Tivo has been a huge investment - and there will likely be teething programmes which more people will throw their dummies out over, but what an incredible investment for something to take things even further.

So what if we don't get a channel or two. It's certainly not quite as bad as Sky taking up a ton of series halfway through production and then us not getting them (ie Lost and Prison break when we lost Sky1). These are brand new series. So we're not getting some new things that are going to show. We may get them eventually we may not. Other channels have caught up with Sky in the sense that they are often now showing new seasons in line with the US rather than months later (which was originally the draw of Sky1).

Of course I'd like to get Sky Atlantic and it would be nice to see some of these new series I've heard about, but it's not the end of the world, and if you can't find something else of interest in the several hundred other channels then there must be something wrong.

I just don't get it.

And as others have said, if you don't like it you don't have to stay. But I seriously don't think I can get the same value for money elsewhere - even if it does mean I'm short a channel or two.

Yep, major upgrades and investment on VOD ongoing for a few weeks. Headend by headend.

We are aware of the slow VOD menus for some customers too!

Is this upgrade the reason why I have lost the use of my internet, phoneline and TV 4 times today?
