You're better off on the other side of the airfield from the avp, up on the bank past the crash gates. Under the runway tunnel towards Wilmslow and first left at the small roundabout onto the service road then up onto the bank. There will be nowhere to park up there though so it means dumping the car (there's a pub and a hotel if you're discreet) and a bit of a trek on shanks's pony. The light is far better in the morning for photography and videos plus you won't have to fight the stinky crowds in the viewing park.
