Council Tax bill came today. Don't know how they can justify increasing the price when they are cutting services locally.

Less money from central Govt. The Govt. can then make savings and let Local Govt. take the blame. Simples.

Hope the results of the test are helpful in sorting out what is happening. It is at least reassuring that some Consultants are willing to ask, and then act on, advise rather than just assume that they know everything.

brexit is easy to explain.

The UK wants to stop being the EUs money cow, and the then PM gave us the choice to vote (sectretly hoping we'd stay).

The people voted to leave in a close vote, but that doesn't matter in a democratic society.

But the number of MPs in parliment are remainers, and going against the people who voted them in.

She stopped as soon as I appeared, then muttered about her own bin being full, then walked to a nearby empty house that is up for sale and put her bags in that bin.

I have thrown their rubbish onto their path in the past, but it's not stopped them trying to do it again.

Pump-action dispensers, in this case a top brand hand soap dispenser. Why is the supply pipe always too short to get the last of the contents out? One today was about 12mm too short!

We add a little water to ours to last a bit longer but you could either pour from this to new container or buy a bulk refill and just add it in.

I just priced bulk soap to refill. And the cheapest I can find is £1 per litre, the same price as El Cheapo soap in dispensers in Tesco. :dozey:

Dad still in hospital and just waiting for the test results but I have this terrible gut feeling it won't be good news at all.

The hospital phoned saying they have tried to contact my sister but she is not answering nor responding to the messages left so I had to tell them when they asked if I could contact her the whole sorry story in the hope that they understand that i won't nor can't contact her. Very sad when you actually think about the situation but she only has herself to blame as I'm not her keeper.

Honestly who does not respond to hospital calls about their father, I know I have my phone beside me all the time atm.

You family sounds not to dissimilar to mine.

Many years ago (70s) my dads mum lived in Blackpool with her daughter and son in law, she had to ask to make a cuppa and food.

One day she came home and found all her stuff in the front garden she called my dad who immediately drove from ours to pick her up and take her to her sister's in Great Yarmouth.

But my mum was having non of it and said she's staying with us.

It my dad quite a few hours and when she got he my sister an I where pleased to see her.

My mum said before we carry on there one rule here and said there are none.

If you want to buy the kids sweets ok but not before dinner.

She managed to get her own flat.

In about the 80s she had a heart attack which she survived, when she had the all clear and came home we said we were going to put the dog in a kennel even though he hated them, but she was having none of it and stayed at ours.

She told my aunt that she was looking forward to looking after the dog, then it started.

Letters between my dad and aunt, with my aunt say to my dad are you trying to kill mum.

My mum had to tell my dad to stop and think.

Now things are fully back to normal, and my uncle is suffering with alzheimers, we were told this by my other uncle.

My dad isn't bothered and hasn't reached out to my aunt.

They say you can choose you friends but you can't chose your family.

Dare are say you and you sister need a kick up the backside like my dad and aunt, as we ain't getting any younger.

Not offended at all Hom3r but to put you in the full picture I needed counselling because of what happened to me and what I was expected to do (it all) and why did I do it because I always did, didn't I.

Then with the help of my loving family and counselling I just realised that I had to speak up, the penny finally dropped then my courage came from no where and believe me it was long overdue that I finally found the courage to say no more this was because I finally realised that a good family stands behind you, is there for you and the respect runs both ways always no matter how annoyed you are with each other.

I have never in my my entire life had anyone who hurts me as much as she can and does when given the chance and that is why I decided to leave the most toxic person who has ever been in my life my so called big sister and trust me it was one of the hardest decisions I have made due to the fact i knew it would hurt my Dad but I needed to put myself and family 1st as believe me removing her from my life is one of the best decisions I have ever made.

At the end of the day I will and continue to do all I can for my father with the understanding that he has two daughters and one has a family and who is ill, while the other has no family and who is fit.

Quote:

you and you sister need a kick up the backside
If making a decision that was in my best interest then kick away :) some may call my decision selfish and that is ok cos those people are lucky to have never had a person in their or families life who can make the brightest day seem dull if things are not going there way.

:hugs: to everyone who has found the strength and courage to leave a toxic relationship whether that be husband, wife, brother, sister etc because I know just how hard and how much control these people can have over you but with support anything is possible.

Sorry for the long reply Hom3r but everything I have said is from my heart.

Still friends I hope

My moan in my crap Pay as you leave car park.

Every week you park, bugger off and shop, spend over a fiver in Asda you get 2 hours free, via a QR code on a bit of paper.

You scan the paper as you leave enter you reg it then tells you if you owe anything. the you leave.

I just got screwed by them for £30. saying I haven't paid and I have no prove that I have.

I think its time the government ban private companies from access any driver details using ANPR tech, and the DVLA hasn't asked my permission to release to anyone.

The system is crap anyway as in the past I've entered my reg and its told me I've already paid.

Smart meters installed Friday and now getting much higher electricity readings, previous averages over years was 5 kWh now around 10kWh and higher.

Wife has daily readings for gas, electricity and solar panels back over many years. Looks like it might be counting usage off solar as well as from grid. British Gas want us to wait 2 weeks to get better readings.

Average solar readings also round the 5 kWh daily.

Hope this is sorted as don't want doubling bills.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

When we had ours installed i remember reading some warning if you had solar power installed. As it didn't affect us I didn't look to see what the problems would be.

tweetiepooh 26-03-2019 09:28

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Yes - looked up details after installation as BG insisted it would be OK. BG are installing with solar PV but I now find out EON and nPower aren't.

Today the instant reads are really odd. 0W one moment then 1.2 kW the next without turning anything on. The solar PV's are working - we can see generation and based on yesterday we should be generating more than enough even to cover that. We only have 2.5 kWh panels operating over 100% on last FIT entries.

Don't see where it gets 1.2 kW from. The only device on is the dish washer and the background devices which late last night's read around 150-200W. Very odd.

Still since we have the last few years worth of daily readings we will have some ammo to work with BG. Their smart meter tech support didn't seem surprised so it can't be uncommon.

Scammers on eBay, i bought something on 4th Feb 2019 from China(never had a problem in the past from China) and the item never arrived and judging by loads of negative recent feedback they have been doing this to loads of buyers, luckily eBay refunded but it is a pain in the ass.

PIP is for those who need help with some of the extra costs associated with those who have a long term ill-health or disability.

It was 'tongue in cheek' Den. I have experience of filling the forms for a relative - appointments with unqualified medics, appeals that take over a year, and know what a nightmare it can be for genuine claimants. All designed to put you off claiming, or to pursue the matter.

There isn’t a "benefits day" anymore - it gets paid into bank accounts on the same day as the claim is approved, which is spread over the five days of the working(?) week. ;)

We out to tidy the garden border but gave up as it is too much work turning soil over, Our gardener will be here soon bug he only cuts grass and the hedge when it grows. Funny how they don't want to dig borders, Lovely day and sun shining but I really feel fed up today. Have to give myself a shake,

I'd rather be out digging borders than decorating this bathroom . .

. . a man of my age has lost the flexibility required to twist and bend in order to do those difficult bits under sinks and around toilets :(

I'm gonna ache in places I'd forgotten I had by tomorrow :D

I got to cut the grass and weed the borders today, luckily no digging needed!

Don't think I will manage or even be allowed to visit my Dad. This cold could not have came at a worst time tbh as my Dad is still in hospital, my eldest moved out 5 days ago so this cold needs to clear soon as I really do not want to let either of them down. I know my boy will understand but as for my Dad well I await his response in the hope I'm pleasantly surprised

Had to see dentist urgently yesterday. Turns out there was an infection causing intermittent pain (but not at night!) unfortunately the dentist insisted on giving me a pack of penicillin! The problem is subsiding but no alcohol allowed until all tablets used up

How comes? - I thought 'moderate' drinking whilst on medication was ok

Still can't visit my Dad in the hospital as this blasted cold is not lifting at all and I need to be symptom free for 48 hours before I can visit him, it's killing me not being able to visit.

Then I have another problem and I really do not know if I'm being petty or not the thing is appointments are being arranged and I'm expected to do them without being consulted. Is it so wrong of me to think that the person making these arrangements should make sure that they can do that date, time etc

Is it just me but is it normal to make arrangements and then expect someone who you have no contact at all with to suddenly expect them to do your arrangements like a member of your staff.....I'm just so frustrated at the moment I feel like my head is going to explode with her.

Job hunting. It's a pain in the rear.

Had an interview 2 weeks ago and I had to email them yesterday to find out I didn't get the job as they hadn't bothered to let me know. Lame excuse too.

My St Justin pewter celtic bracelet has developed a crack. I thought it seemed to change size too easily. I'm hoping to be able to use my thermostatically controlled soldering iron to fuse it back together as pewter has a low melting point similar to solder.

A friend & her hubby have separated.

But this is just the start.

Four years ago after 15 years of marriage he dropped a huge bombshell, that he was Bi sexual and still seeing other men.

But she loved him and for the sake of kids they kept together, last week he came home and said I can't do this anymore and I've been seeing another woman, a dominatrix.

So she said go.

She's removed her ring and friends are supporting, one works in a solicitors :D

I'd say he deserves to be punished for all that, but he might enjoy it.

Cancer is a expletive.

A friend at work has spots on his lung and been told to make memories with his kids, 9 & 11.

As he is unlikely to see 10 years.

Having had a mum who survived cancer. I understand what's he's going through, enough to ask how his wife is.

Understandably she is devastated.

4 people I know now, have recently died from cancer. All in their 50s. It does make you re-evaluate things and what's important. It's always the nice people too.

Putting this here as a moan rather than issue with TV.

I hate the move to default being HD as I still have CRT TV HD channels switch it from Wide to 4:3 so I have to adjust screen form when HD plays. HD also takes more storage on TiVo. And most stuff doesn't warrant HD anyway.

You mean you haven't got a 10ft wide LCD ? ;)

tbh unless you've got a silly sized tv, the difference is marginal. And as you say most stuff on cable was never made in HD. As for UHD, 'Emperors New Clothes' methinks....

There should be an option whether you want SD or HD channels prioritised in your channel order.
