DOH!
Pem was a star as well, I'd click his rep button, but since I already did, it won't let me!

Group hug

Is your rep. disabled ? If it is then it will only display a comment and it wont change the rep total.

I'm on the phone with some NTL woman, but she is about as helpful as me throwing my cable modem out the window

Re: Can browse, but cant ftp or anything else

This is frustration beyond belief, I'm too far from a BT exchange to get a decent ADSL connection speed, so I'm stuck with NTL, who appear to go out of their way NOT to be helpful.

I was just asked to mail in my tracert, as it was too awkward to take notes while on the phone! What the hell is that?????

Fortunately I was able to convince her that email was a viable alternative, but it took her 5 minutes to receive the email, thanks to NTL's disgusting mail service.

She then thanked me for informing them of the fault, bye bye

(Sorry, just needed to vent there)

Re: Can browse, but cant ftp or anything else

FYI - it failed again at 17:41 this afternoon :( - same pattern as tuesday - connectivity to various servers lost for about a minute and then all returned accept the connection to the same problem server. It's like something in the network switched over this morning and has now switched back.

Oh well - I'm off to London shortly - lets see if it's still bust when I return tomorrow night.

Judging by the people affected I would say it may be in the Nottingham network somewhere.

Sorry for not replying earlier, replied in PM to at least one of you.

I have a pretty good idea what the issue is now, was working on it earlier, will be either trying to fix or escalating tomorrow. Sorry for the inconvenience all, tricky one, crossed fingers all will be well tomorrow.
