If you have a popup blocker it could be that, I use the one built into Zone Alarm Pro and it does the same thing.

If you want to show the icons on your desktop, do shift+print screen, go into paint and then paste, then save it.

to get youres like mine you will need some webspace and an ftp server. (Presumibly your with NTL?) then you upload your desktop picture by pressing the following key on your keyboard, PrtScr. Once you have done this you need to go to Paint. (Start >>> All Programs >>> Accessories >>> Paint.) Once in Paint go to Edit then click Paste. Then save the file.
